The 2.4 as used in the Caliber SRT4 had enhanced innards for use with the turbo. I was on the Caliber forum 5 yrs and people that tried turbo on standard 2.4 blew them up.

2012 could have build date in 2011 and if it's the original battery that means it could be 5 yrs old. Have it load tested , on average 5 -6 yrs is the norm with regards to OEM batteries.

I think the OP is referring to "oil cooler" and not filter. Talk to someone who sells trailers they must have references for someone who installs after market coolers. Have the tranny serviced by dealer/tranny shop to start fresh with fluid and filter in tranny.

Drove for 5 yrs , cvt is a learning experience. I missed it when I bought the DJ and it never gave me a moments regret or problem , I could burn rubber with it.
