  1. Okay.. I have a 2010 Dodge Journey with the 2.4 litre. It has 140,000km's on it. (85,000 miles) It has the strangest intermittent starting issue I have ever seen. DEALER COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM I will describe this the best I can. Went to the bank today. 10 minutes of driving. Came out and it cranked over fine and it would fart occasionally but not catch. I would let go of the key and when it did the starter would stop. Tried again with pumping gas pedal but even by adding gas pedal it didnt fire up or change any farting behaviour. I doubt that gas is the problem. I have put in cans of Sea Foam over the last few fuel fills and I even tried running 94 octane But here is what also happened on 3 of 10 or 15 starting attempts. The whole car would shake like the engine and starter was running but when i let go of the key and the key sprang back to the run position, the starter kept running on its own along with the maybe idling engine...even though the key sprang back. As it does this, the car kinda shakes which is why i think that the engine is actually idling with the starter motor running along with it. I wish i thought to open the door to see if i heard the exhaust as that might have helped confirm if the engine was idling. Also could be a separate problem that the starter motor is not disengaging. Whatever tells the starter to keep cranking and not let go. Is there a module or relay or solenoid i dont know? But if you wait a few minutes then the car starts fine This seems to be the pattern. It usually only happens with a hot engine. Only on one occasion did it not start when cold. But then started fine after a couple hours Also when it did start , the starter and engjne maybe idling at the same time, this would last for 4 or 5 seconds and then it would all stop together ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
  2. Hello Fellow Journey owners! I'm very happy to have found this forum about the Dodge Journey. My wife and I have been downsizing the fleet and replaced our daily drivers with a low mileage 2010 Journey SXT 2wd White Gold Clearcoat. It's a low mileage at 71,000km's 3.5V6 6 spd auto. I'm hoping to get up to speed on how these SUV's are making everyone happy or sad about ownership here & how to tackle anything that needs attention in the future. This one has a few mechanical challenges to sort out and I am hoping I have made a good choice on this one. We hope for many years of enjoyment to come. This is our 3rd Dodge in 5 years with the other 2 being classic 66 Polara convertible and a 1st year 1960 Dodge Dart Seneca.
  3. Is there a common electrical/electronic component to these two failures? Door lock - doesn't work. Door unlock DOES work. Remote or button. Front windshield washer fluid pump does not work. Rear windshield washer fluid pump DOES work (I know its the same pump!). I am ready to try replacing something in the hopes it will fix my electrical issues without a confirmed diagnosis already, in the hopes all my issues disappear. And in the might be related category: rear wheel drive engagement for AWD is not smooth when turning. Mechanic actually disconnected it for me. Occassionally (especially after rain maybe), absolutely no electrical at all. Waiting a couple minutes and all is well. Occasionally no start. Just a click. Wait 20 minutes and it might start. Eventually it will. New starter and new battery has not solved. Shawn. 2010 Dodge Journey R/T AWD
  4. The driver window button came off in my hand so I ordered a replacement by searching 2010 Journey on Ebay. I didn't realize there would be different series because the one in the picture and the one I received are identical to mine. Lo and behold, different part numbers. The new panel only lights up and works the rear windows. The difference is the new one has a LOT more pins in the connectors. These are the interchange numbers for the item: 4602632AG, 4602632AH, 4602632AF, 4602632AD, 4602632AC 04602632AG, 04602632AH, 04602632AF, 04602632AD, 04602632 Mine is 04602533AE. Can I just pull the extra pins instead of dealing with an ebay return?
  5. I'm having some serious issues with my Journey and was hoping to get some insight. Here is a list of problems... Traction control turns on and off by itself Car won't start (won't even turn over). Radio works, isn't a battery issue or alternator issue. Car starts and continues to act like it's trying to start.... after it's already started. Blinkers act like they are possessed (won't come on or won't turn off) Today was a new one... check engine light came on and it was...sputtering and acting like it was going to stall out. Drivers window is a nightmare to get up...sometimes. Then other times, it's completely fine - no issues. I have my thoughts on what it is but wanted to reach out for ideas.
  6. smell towing uphill

Hello...I couldn't find any info on this topic... maybe someone can help. I have a 2010 Journey R/T. 6 cylinder. low mileage. The Rv is tiny. 13' Little Bigfoot. About 1200 lbs. Plus gear and food for 2 people. It did not come equipped with the tow package and there is no oil cooler listed on the window sticker. I towed with it for the first time and going uphill there was a distinct smell, like burning rubber or the like. This happened twice. on the trip out and trip back. It was a short trip, less than an hour and the oil temp gauge didn't move. My understanding was that all the Journeys had a transmission cooler , but only those with tow package had an oil cooler. I asked my dealer about installing only and they were totally useless, couldn't find any such part, didn't know what it was.?? Does anyone know what this could be? Also, I may be paranoid, but I sometimes think I hear a "tick" from the engine since that weekend. thanks for any help.
  7. First set of LEDs came in the mail. Wanted to share with everyone to show how simple it is. First the link to the bulbs on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DHXSSQ/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B005DHXSSQ&linkCode=as2&tag=kinsrev0a-20&linkId=QRKRGQDOXEFN4YL7 Next, here is what I received: To install the new bulbs, you will need just a small flat head screw drive and gloves (unless you don't mind hot bulbs on your fingers). If you look at the image of the removed cover, there are two hinges that control the pivot of the map light cover (which also serves as the switch). Use the flat head screwdriver to slowly ease the hinges out. As you can see, they are really delicate. Should pop out easily. Here is the old bulb. My owner's manual says 578s. Looks like 194 to me. Should pull out easily. Add your new bulbs. Activate the switch to make sure it works. If not, switch the polarity by installing the bulb the other way. Viola!
  8. Hi everyone, I'm looking for new 16 or 17 inch wheels for my 2010 Journey SE. I'm looking specifically for light-weight wheels as my main concern is fuel efficiency. I will also be picking up a set of Michelin Latitude Tour tires. I'm having a hell of a time finding ANY wheels for this car so any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.
  9. Go Ducks :D

  10. Hi All So for the last little while I've been enjoying my new (to me) 2010 DJ SXT - was nice getting back to Dodge after having Nissans for the last few years. My only issue is the brakes which I'm planning on replacing and bleeding in the next couple of weeks for a nice weekend project and lets face it, you want great brakes for Alberta winters I'm just looking for suggestions for new rotors and ceramic pads for my Journey, hopefully I can get a decent consensus from a few people before I head over to part source and stand in front of a giant wall going Eeny Meeny Meiney Mo...
