Hi,

I just bought a 2011 Dodge Journey R/T. Great vehicle so far. Comes with NAV, and assumed it came with Bluetooth..but doesn't, so will be searching for ways to alleviate that. Also came with a towing prep package, but no Hitch, so will be looking for advice on what to do with that, too.

Cheers,

Mike

Welcome to the board!

Get a bluetooth speakerphone - it can be found for ~$40 on Amazon (I think that particular option is a Jabra). They charge via USB, so get a 12v charger with 2 USB ports (if you don't already have one).

You can add the Dodge integrated Bluetooth fairly cheaply... Only difference between getting it at the factory and adding it after the fact is that there will be a microphone to mount (the ones from the factory are actually part of the mirror assembly and are hidden well). Also, the "tow package" doesn't come with a hitch. Stupid as that is, many have added it and there is lots of info about it on the forum.

miker14,

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your Journey!

I would agree with Lobitz68 and suggest visiting your local Dodge dealer to verify what your add-on Bluetooth options are.

Welcome to the forum. Odd that you have Nav w/o Bluetooth.

That happened a lot in 2011 , Chrysler changed the Uconnect ordering process.

This was the year they redefined Uconnect and if you wanted BT it had to be

ordered as a separate line item many dealers weren't informed/cared and

the dealerships ended up with these Uconnect only DJs.

I went through this when I got my '11. Your dealer has nothing from the manufacturer.

The OEM BT add-on does not work for the new generation DJs - you are stuck with buying an aftermarket, external BT device - my vehicle didn't have NAV, so for me it was a no-brainer. I got a Garmin unit with a built-in speakerphone.

There are lots of stand-alone BT adapters on the market.
