I believe it's 1" lower. I know for certain the liftgate on my 14 R/T Rallye hits my head much more easily than the one on our 14 SXT Blacktop. There also appears to be a bit less wheel gap. Only other difference between the two is the SXT is FWD I4 and the R/T is the AWD V6.

B4ZINGA got a reaction from dhh3 in Why no towing on dolly for FWD?
The only reason a FWD vehicle could not be dolly'd is if it was a vehicle with low ground clearance. My FWD 300M Special has lowering springs on it from the factory, along with factory ground effects. Putting it on a dolly would damage the front fascia from catching the dolly, and damage the rear fascia and exhaust system from any significant bumps in the road. The Journey, however, is not low ground clearance. so FWD models can be dolly'd all day long. My Special has to be flat-bedded and that's what I've used the few times I needed it to be transported somewhere.

B4ZINGA got a reaction from BlindSquirrel in What kind of the phone holder do you use in your DJ?
The cubby under the radio, or the cupholder. Although I can control the phone without ever taking it out of my pocket, it helps the microphone catch my voice if it's out. Besides, even when I say "OK, Google Now, Navigate to the Landing Strip Gentleman's Clu... err Kroger!" I still have to enter the unlock sequence before she pulls up the directions. Kind of annoying that they advertise it be controlled without hitting the wake button, but it still needs to be unlocked if it needs you to pick options...
One of these days I'll get a mount that sits on top of the dash and grips its (no sticky pads) so I can have the nav screen in view. My buddy has a Nexus 6 on a magnetic mount with wireless charging in his 2015 200... and it looks ridiculous with such a big phone blocking the windshield lol.

B4ZINGA got a reaction from dhh3 in Rattling Headrests 2nd Row
Over rough roads (every road in MI), mine rattle a bit. I can see in the mirror the whole backseat upper shaking around. This is my first wagon, so I figured it's just normal for vehicles that don't have the backseat fastened at the top and bottom like it is in sedans. There are large gaps on either side of the Journey backseat upper section that my father's old Tahoe didn't have and that didn't rattle, so with the Journey second row being held in on only one side, I'm not surprised.

I use Zaino Z-9 leather cleaner for seats that have a lot of soil, and Z-10 Leather-in-a-bottle conditioner for that like-new look, feel, smell. I used that combo on a set of light taupe leather seats I got from a junk yard that were heavily soiled. Now they look and feel great and in the back of my show car, which recently won a best custom interior award.
My driver's seat looks exactly like Rolys. It looked like that when I bought the car at 2,086 miles and hasn't changed at all right up to the currently 14,800 miles. Leather does that, especially the cheap leather/vinyl Dodge uses. If you don't want to see cracks, get Katzkin installed and condition it daily. The seats in the Journey were clearly designed to crack in that spot, what with the plastic seat trim being positioned in such a way that you need to jump in and out to avoid stretching and creasing the cushion over it.

B4ZINGA got a reaction from daddyRT in Awd
Downshifting while coasting downhill is normal when it detects the vehicle is gaining speed without driver input via the accelerator pedal.
AWD is normally off, and kicks on only when the traction control system detects wheel slip at the front wheels. Switching off the traction control (or as much of it as the TCS button permits), turns on the AWD all the time (until TCS is turned on again). During the winter months, when the snow is fresh, I'll locate a large empty parking lot and have some fun with my AWD R/T's TCS dialed down. Yes, you can kick out the rear end of a Journey, and do donuts. When it's snowy, anyway.

    B4ZINGA got a reaction from dhh3 in 27 MPG at 77 MPH
The SXT I rented to go to Toronto in June managed to get 32, driving at 65 MPH through Ontario (limit is 62 after conversion, I'm not about to test how trigger happy the Ontario highway patrol is with my US license).
My R/T has gotten 30 in the past, 65-70 MPH. Around town I get anywhere from 14.5-17. Michigan, in its infinite wisdom with left turns (you can't turn left in Michigan, at least not within 50 miles of Detroit), has traffic lights every twelve feet on roads with 35-45 MPH speed limits. By the time you get up to speed, you have to stop again. In rush hour, you have to sit through 5+ traffic light cycles every mile. The result? The 14.5 MPG my EVIC is presently reporting. Try using the highway, you say? You mean the one that's gridlocked from the millions of folks that thought they had the same brilliant idea? It takes me 40 minutes to cover 4 miles some nights. Meanwhile, our 2.4L Blacktop SXT Plus never drops below 20 MPG, and although the commute it uses is less harsh, it still sits in traffic frequently.
At 75 on the highway, in this relatively flat region, I get about 24-26 MPH. Not bad for an SUV, but not stellar either. My R/T Charger got that much with two extra cylinders and one fewer cogs. 65-70, I think it can go over 27 reliably. So, city mileage SUCKs if you have the 3.6L version. Highway mileage is pretty respectable for what it is, if you aren't re-enacting the storm-drain scene from the Nick Cage remake of Gone in 60 Seconds.
Could be worse. The Grand Cherokee I'd like to have as a daily that I can go offroading with gets an EPA estimated 21 MPG on the highway. 2004 Overland. Even Liberty got 21 max through 2012, and Grand Cherokee stuck to 21 until recently as well.

$2.50/gal? Yikes. I guess it's pretty pricey to get fuel out to the islands.
I won't be going to those particular islands, however I will be hitching a ride next week on the worlds largest passenger ship, Allure of the Seas, to a few islands south of the continent starting this coming Sunday. Can't wait to get away from this 20F BS.

B4ZINGA got a reaction from dhh3 in 2017 Chrysler Pacifica
Yes, the Journey was made to replace the SWB Caravan and to get Dodge into the car-based SUV market.
The new 2017 Pacifica is on the updated RU minivan platform, and Chrysler is currently preparing a crossover to be made at Windsor Assembly on the RA platform, a derivative of the RU minivan platform. They did the same thing with the original Pacifica crossover (basing it on the minivan platform). The name of this minivan-based crossover is still unknown.
The current RT Grand Caravan will continue for at least one more year alongside the RU Pacifica before meeting the ax. Mum is the word on what, if anything, replaces it.
Marchionne stated this week that the next Journey will be a completely different vehicle. The current Journey is a mid-size FWD crossover with available AWD in 5- and 7-passenger configurations, so who knows at this point what Marchionne is talking about. All we know is a new model was due a couple of years ago, but the Journey is gaining sales every month year-over-year, so I doubt there's any rush to replace it until either sales fall or they get serious about the sporty brand image.

A lot of fabbing is needed regardless of the type of supercharger used. The type used on the GM 3800 or the Hellcat might require work on the hood (unknown if totally necessary, remember it would likely replace the upper intake plenum). Other designs would have it mounted like a turbocharger, but then you would need to fab a system to transfer the power needed to run the supercharger from the passenger side of the engine to the drivers side.
Of course you also need to crack the PCM so you can made changes to the programming in order to make full use of that supercharger and avoid wrecking the engine.
No, there is no bolt-on supercharging system currently on the market. AFAIK, none is in development, either. Plan on investing $10,000 to start.

I'll be using the standard Gatling Guns with my MH1 7.0 low beams. They finally came in on Friday, though the harnesses I got aren't what I was expecting. Couldn't order the Mopar harness with the MH1 stage 3, so I ordered canbus 9006 and got canbus eliminators with no HD relay harness... working with TRS to figure out exactly what it is I'll need for it to work the first time.

I highly doubt FCA will put any more design work into the Journey. It was engineering in 2008, refreshed for 2011, and a model added for 2014. The sell-by date came and went on this generation. The next one will likely have the improvements you seek, available probably as a Chrysler in 2018/2019. We'll see what the updated product plan is next month.

B4ZINGA got a reaction from jkeaton in Power Lift Gate
Keep in mind, it was designed as a Dodge back in 2007 and 2008, when Chrysler Group had to make cuts on their products. When it was refreshed for 2011, the focus was on the bigger complaints of the interior and engine/trans, and bringing the aesthetics up, than on the convenience of a power liftgate. Power liftgates are starting to be more common, so I'd be surprised if the Giulia-based replacement doesn't have it. Even the new Edge has it for 2016.
Only way to get it on a JC Dodge crossover (Journey) is to have an aftermarket company make one. That can get pricey. I haven't really thought about it in the past year and a half, so I don't think Journey needs it. It's better suited to owners of minivans and full-size SUVs, who might need it to open on its own while they're carrying fussy children or need it to close itself because it's high up.

It was my understanding that only uConnect 2.0 (not available on JC platform vehicles) was capable of the things you want, so screaming at Chrysler will get you nowhere.
Interesting that some of you claim it does indeed work. Hasn't ever worked for me, though I rarely use BT unless I want to make a phone call, and I've never used the USB since my phone doesn't support USB OTG+Charge (it might, now that it runs 5.1 and supports Android Auto). I don't really care though, as my 2013 Moto X automatically detects when I'm driving and asks me if I want to hear the message, and dictates responses. Only problem is if I have it connected by BT, the uConnect thinks its a phone call and gets screwy, so I leave the BT disconnected.
I'm curious, does anyone who says the features work for them use a phone manufactured by ANYONE other than Samsung or Apple? Those two AFAIK are the only ones who support it, and it tends to be hit or miss. If that's the case... we're SOL. I've sworn off of Samsung as their products are nothing more than cheaply engineered products that look pretty and aren't worth much else... my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Series 7 Chronos laptop can attest to that. Apple just isn't worth my time and money... I have no interest in their proprietary crap.
IMHO, if you want all of these 1st world features to work right, buy a car or head unit that runs Android Auto and/or Apple CarPlay. Automakers are notorious for having awful infotainment systems, and uConnect just happens to be the lone C-student among all the flunkers. They're realizing it, too, as more and more carmakers are giving in and signing up for AA and CarPlay.

Sales, parts, and service all different departments run by different people, so experiences will be different, all in the same building.
I bought my Journey at Southfield Dodge, closest to my house, and the sales staff were "okay". They tried to pull some tricks on me to lower my trade value and I wasn't having it. Then our other Journey needed a new wheel speed sensor, and it took their service department a week to find the problem and fix it, and it was nearly impossible to get them to talk to us while they had the car without getting in their faces about it. That wasn't a weeks worth of diagnosis. That was a weeks worth of the car sitting in their service lot untouched. They were not busy.
Suburban Chrysler in Troy is generally better for both sales and service. That's where I go for service now, though they outsource their scheduling department to an outside company, so when we show up for an appointment they almost never are prepared since they aren't expecting us. It was fine when I needed a washer fluid sensor, but getting the remote start and rock guards installed on the blacktop was irritating when an appointment was set, and the guy doing the installation had already left for the day. Had to leave it overnight.
My next purchase, if it is new, will likely be from Szott M-59. They're about 40 minutes away, 15-20 miles. The local mopar enthusiast group is in love with that dealer, and that dealer is a sponsor to the group, so a good deal is possible. Has to be, with all the members who have bought brand new Dodges and Jeeps (including AEV Wranglers) from them. Their service also gets glowing reviews, but it's a bit far to go for an oil change. Thankfully oil changes and tire rotations are handled by fastlanes now, so I don't need an appointment. Just 30 minutes to an hour depending on their customer volume that day.
