  1. I've seen a couple of cracked housings before. We did two just last week. One was a 3.6 Avenger which had not yet had an oil change. The other was a 3.6 Grand Cherokee that had been serviced the week prior. The cap may have been overtightened on that one, causing it to crack. Can't tell for sure, though. This is something I'm keeping an eye on in my shop. I've also seen one where an independent shop serviced the car and omitted the seal on the cap when they put it back together. That one had to be towed.
  2. Au contraire - the expected rail shipments are available to dealers. They are not always updated in a timely fashion but give an idea of a vehicle's progress. Ray's Journey departed Villa de Reyes today and is due into Laredo on 11/2. Here's the expected movement: Future .. Railcar - Interchanged 11/02/2014 09:03 AM EST Laredo, TX .. Railcar - Interchanged 11/07/2014 05:03 PM EST Memphis, TN .. Railcar Placed at Destination Facility 11/09/2014 11:10 PM EST Nashville, TN .. Unloaded From Railcar 11/10/2014 06:10 AM EST Nashville, TN ..
  3. There is a difference between Sentry Key Immobilizer (SKIM) and Security Alarm. All Journeys have SKIM but the Security Alarm is optional. It is standard on Limited and R/T only.
  4. Make sure that it is armed before opening the door. I always test from the driver's side so you can watch the LED in the tach to see when it is armed. When the LED stops flashing rapidly and blinks once every few seconds, then it is ready. Perhaps your Journey is not equipped? I could check for you - all I need is the last eight digits of your VIN.
  5. Sorry I misunderstood. The way to test the alarm would be to lower the window on the driver door. Then, close the door and lock it with the fob. Wait 30 seconds for the alarm to arm, then reach in through the open window and open the driver door using the inside handle. The car will see that as an intrusion and sound the horn and flash the lights. Disarm by unlocking the door with the fob.
  6. The oil sending unit is a known problem which has recently been granted a warranty extension beyond 3/36 here in the US. Like you, my only complaint is the tranny and I've only had one problem - had to replace the radio due to a corrupt navigation map.
  7. Locking the door with the key fob, or by pressing the power lock button and then closing the door(s) will arm the alarm system. There is an option in Settings on the radio to enable/disable the horn chirp when the doors are locked.
  8. If the car wash has one of those high-pressure fans to blow the water off of the car at the end of the wash, it is not unusual for it to spit a couple of drops into the interior. My 300M has done that during the fan cycle but has never leaked water otherwise in all of its 14 years. If you have compressed air and a blow gun, you can run compressed air down the sunroof tub drains to make sure they are clear. If the car does not leak any water thru the roof in any other circumstance, then there is nothing to worry about. Leave the shade open during the next rain storm and see if any water comes in. If so, then it is time for a dealer visit. This would be a warranty matter.
  9. That is a badass setup for sure. I love it on the Durango, Charger and Dart. Best of luck with your Durango. I love it also, but my wife felt it was too big. I have to say that the Journey really is the perfect size for us.
  10. Guess what, Ray? At 2:47 PM Central time today, your Journey became reality! Still showing shipment of 10/28 and *tentative* delivery to your dealer by 11/18. I'll watch that date for changes. Mine varied a few days back and forth before actual delivery. You'll probably be driving it in about a month. It'll be the longest month of your life! Start pacing...
  11. Deep Sapphire Blue is probably my favorite color for the 300M Special. If you're a member of the 300M Enthusiasts Club, or have visited that forum you've no doubt seen many PBW Specials over there wearing the requisite Zaino as you describe! I've suggested a Blue Streak Pearl (new color this year) Crossroad to our sales manager for stock at my store. I think it looks cool in the pictures and would likely sell in a heartbeat.
  12. Does your Durango have the Racetrack taillamps?
  13. Copperhead Pearl was the name used for this color on the Ram 1500 truck, yet on the Journey it was simply called Copper Pearl until recently. The colors, and the color code were identical, just the name anomaly was the only difference. As for the "on fire" pic - just shoot it in direct sunlight after just waxing and you'll get it!
  14. It's all good, Ray. I checked my status every single day from order to the day it rolled past my office on the truck. I just checked again...status unchanged. Watch for updates this weekend from me. The dealership name that is listed is Lander-Mclarty Chrysler Dodge in Huntsville, which matches your post. As of now, it goes from Toluca to Laredo, Texas, then Memphis to Nashville. Tentatively scheduled to be unloaded from the railcar in Nashville on 11/08. It will presumably be trucked from there to Huntsville, but none of that has been posted yet. And remember, these are tentative dates which usually swing a day or two here and there along the way. Mine was built on 4/25 but did not make it to my store in NY until 5/15. Sat in a yard in NJ for a week which killed me. Yours *should* get to you quicker since you are a lot closer to the plant than I. I'll be watching!
  15. Durango is a viable alternate as well. Like the Journey, it has three rows of seats but it is several inches longer than the Journey so there may be room for your stuff in the tailgate with all the seats up. LIke Lobitz stated, you can fold one side down and still keep a seat open for the baby. The best overall vehicle for seating and storage, though, is the Grand Caravan / T&C, hands-down. They really do it all.
  16. Welcome to the forum and to the world of Journeys. Nice car, you will love it if you don't already. Post pics!
  17. Ray - I tried the VOTS system again tonight with a VIN and name of a customer who has a Jeep on order from us and it came back with this message: "Dear customer, the VOTS website is undergoing some remodeling and is currently unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience, if you have an inquiry about your order please contact your dealer directly. We appreciate your business and thank you for your patience as we work around the clock to improve our services." So...with that, I checked your status again thru DealerConnect and you are still D1, but it also still shows a projected date of 10/28 to have your Journey loaded on a railcar out of Toluca, which tells me that you'll probably be built this weekend, maybe Friday. I'll post as soon as that updates.
  18. STAR Case Contact the STAR Center for assistance if no solution is found Chrysler Group LLC Version 3 Case Number: S1308000070 Release Date: 02/28/2013 Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Auto Headlamp Request, Vehicle Is Not Equipped With LMG Sales Code Discussion: Owner would like to add auto headlamps to a vehicle that does not have the option. Required components: auto headlamp switch, twilight sun sensor (harness take out with connector is secured in the steering column area, needs routing to the center dash), addition of the LMG sales code to activate. Perform a vehicle restoration to complete
  19. Looks good to me, JK. I'm getting a lot of requests to add sales codes to newer (2014+) vehicles and it no longer can be done. Maybe raising some awareness will cut down on some of these inquiries. I'm always willing to help but in this case I'm no longer able to do so. If they continue then maybe moving to main forum would be wise. Thanks!
  20. I was surprised to see LMK omitted from your database. I thought maybe yours was a late 2013 build but it was built in 2/13 - earlier than mine. Either your vehicle configuration does not support DRL or Chrysler has recently removed the ability for the dealers to add LMK retroactive to earlier models. I doubt that to be true because I enabled them for a member here just two weeks ago on a 2012. Sorry! But yes, your dealership was honest with you.
  21. They added a sales code - LMN - but the one needed for DRL in the US market is LMK, which does not exist in your VIN database. Sorry that I'm unable to help you. Your dealer did indeed try to make them work.
  22. The site that I use is proprietary to Chrysler dealers. You will have to use the VOTS system to check your status. Unfortunately, it is not as detailed but at least you can follow it on your own. I've been checking your status almost daily. I think one of our members here sent you a link to the VOTS site from the Jeep webpage . I tried it and it worked.
