It would seem to me that the OP's vehicle wasn't babied. My ex used to complain about brake life on ANY vehicle she had - we used to give her the new one and I'd get her old one and strangely I always got twice as much mileage out of brakes and much better fuel economy than she did.
The OP might do himself a favour by perhaps taking a look at how his wife drives when 'unsupervised'.
I have 40K on mine and am still on original brakes & tires, though the rear pads will be replaced shortly. I do a pretty even mix of highway and urban driving. Fuel economy tends to sit at between 11-12 l/100 km, so I'm not driving like an old lady, either.
The only issues I've had to date were a leaking manifold gasket and a stuck air door in the heating system.

I only have the 4.3 in my Journey. I tried this a few times as well with no luck. Soon I became frustrated and said screw it, I have better things to worry about. I have the same problems with my wifes Town and Country. I just assumed I was electronically challenged.
As long as I can plug my mp3 in and listen to music I am good. To hell with the rest, its way over my head anyways!!

Finally. Someone who has an answer to this question. I have spent hours updating and monkeying around with my phone only to see this option fail time and time again. My dealer and the Chrysler help line consistently told me it was my phone. Three phones later, no text in my DJ.
Since we, evidently, cannot rely on dealers nor the Chrysler help line for accurate info, Chrysler should spend a lot more time on employee education and/or create a position for someone to review the owner's manuals so that they are correct. I was also told when I purchased my DJ that my vehicle would support text. Again, poor employee education is likely at the root of that statement.
I love my DJ, but that $#!+ pisses me off!!
    Peace.

Any premium set from Centric, Raybestos, Wagner, NAPA are good and reputable aftermarket brands. Rockauto sells the Powerstop rotor and pad kits which are also good.....my advice is to stay away from any of the cheap Chinese slotted rotors and pads that sell on ebay.

It's real disappointing that GM couldn't carry on the design of the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice in their Chevy line up. That is a sharp looking car.

Many posters frustrated with a problem vehicle will use car forums as their platform to vent there frustration and I get that. It happens on all forums but I still don't feel that is the majority sentiment with the Journey.....I love mine and other DJ owners that I know are quite happy also. My DJ so far has proven to be a real workhorse and I will definitely look to upgrade in the future.

Dodge will celebrate by launching a new trim line, the 2014 Dodge Journey Crossroad , at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. A few updates, liking the tinted rear tail lights and the new 19" wheels. The tire size seems different as there are Firestones on them, and presently Firestone does not offer the 19" tire size of 225/55r19.
I think it looks sharp, still like my BlackTop package.

    .........simply the keyfob being COLD!!!!
I discovered this by accident - once, I was out snowmobiling in December, and instead of putting my keys in my coat pocket, I put them in a storage bin on the snowmobile. Temps were near 0 F. When I got home, I couldn't get in my Journey - but once the keys warmed up, it was back to normal.
I thought it was just a fluke - So the other day, I had the Journey in for a NYS inspection - temps were in the single digits - the garage wasn't far from my house, so the Journey never got warmed up. Because they needed the keys to do the emission check, I left them in the cup holder in the Journey. The garage was almost non-heated in side ( I could see my breath) Well, the Journey couldn't detect the key after 20 minutes of sitting in the cold - I had to warm it up in my hands for it to work.
I was wondering if maybe the battery in the FOB was weak, causing the issue, as I've had the Journey over 2 years? Well, this weekend I did a little experiment - I was given 2 fobs when I bought my Journey - one is brand new, I never use it.
I put the brand new fob in my freezer, which is 0F-10F. After 15 minutes took it out, yep, it didn't work. Neither the automatic proximity sensor nor the manual buttons worked. After 10 minutes of room temps, it was back to functioning normally.
Refrigerator type temps - mid to upper 30s, the fob works fine. It's just very cold - below 20F - that disables it - So long as I leave the Fob in my pocket, never an issue. But this might explain some 'mystery' key fob issues that have cropped up.

Probably the most accurate statement I have read in a long time concerning these cars. Let the car do its thing. I wonder how many less complaints there would be if everyone adopted this attitude.

    Update at 1200 km.
Only been a few weeks but the car has been driven plenty. My wife and I kind of fight a bit about who gets to take it each morning, but that will be resolved soon as her new job will include a pretty fancy company car.
One of our main priorities for this car was that it should be comfortable on long trips (at least compared to our Wrangler Unlimited - not a high bar to clear). It certainly is all of that. Just such a nice place to be with the heated leather seats, separate rear entertainment system (with wireless headphones), light coming in the sunroof, sat radio - what a pleasure.
It continues to work great in this very wintery winter. Probably 85% of our driving so far has been on roads that are either completely or partially snow-covered. Even with the OEM all-season radials it is just fine. I imagine with proper snow tires it would be a real mountain goat.
The electric steering provides practically no feedback, which increases comfort but prevents one from treating it like a performance car. This is a non-issue for me but I could see how an aggressive / sporty driver would be disappointed. Not sure why such a driver would buy a 3-row crossover though.... Personally, I find with all of the electronic driving controls (AWD, traction control, stability control, ABS), in the snow I just point the car where I want it to go, give it moderate throttle and let the computers figure out how to make it happen. A different way to drive for me, but very effective.
No problems to report at all. I am finally accustomed to the whole keyless ignition thing. That took a while but I do love it.
Fuel economy has been kinda crap. First tankful was terrible but the dealer warned me to expect that. Second tank was better but still nowhere near what I would hope for based on the ratings. I attribute this to some extent to the fact that we are driving on snowy roads most of the time. On one dry highway run the fuel consumption was pretty good (9.2 L / 100 km), so I am hoping that that is indicative of what to expect.

We have over 36,000 kilometres on our Journey and have only had the radio and navigation system replaced and weatherstripping on three windows replaced. No mechanical problems and the Kumho tires have been regularly rotated and still in good shape. We love our Journey as well. Best vehicle I've ever owned! By the number of forum members who are repeat owners I would say that says a lot about the Journey! Unfortunately you can get stuck with a bad product with any manufacturer and there should be a better way to resolve these problems. I feel bad for those who have been stuck with a vehicle that they paid good money for and can't get satisfaction. It also doesn't help when you have someone who posts a few times just to stir the pot.

My point was too him who said he was giving up on Dodge because of his ONE bad one. I would not go as far as to say "full of unhappy customers and crappy Journeys"...no more than any other automotive forum I belong to. There are good stories and bad. Some people make the bad worse with crappy dealer experiences, but that goes across all manufacturer lines as well.

Addicted to Dodge reacted to Journeyman425 in Need some info on who to contact regarding warranty issues...
You are most welcome. The good folks at Chrysler want to keep their customers happy, and standing behind their product is the number one way to do it. In the big picture, some out-of-warranty assistance to a customer for an unusual failure is a relatively small investment to make in the hopes that the customer will become a repeat buyer. Think about it. How many millions of dollars do companies spend on Super Bowl Sunday just to attract buyers to their products? How much did Chrysler spend to satisfy you? A whole lot less, but it just may very well get you back to their showroom if you have faith that they stand behind you.
I don't advocate people picking up the phone and complaining to the company about every nickel and dime they have to spend on off-warranty repairs. The vehicle has a stated warranty which we all agreed to when we purchased the vehicle. But some items are expected to last for a significant period of time or mileage, especially with proper maintenance. We have to show Chrysler that we did our part. If you have done so - and in this case you did - and you have a major repair just outside of warranty, then the company should step up and help. Glad to see that they helped you out.

Thank you very much, exactly the type of response I was hoping to get. My wife is all freaking out...lol she went online and started pricing parts, and of course she was pricing the wrong parts and looking at stuff that costs 300 bucks....she has this costing us 500 bucks in her mind. I told her A- speed sensors are 30 bucks online, B- we shouldn't be paying to fix this.. its a warranty claim. Although I couldn't say it with certainty because I really didn't know how it would be handled since the sensor is completely broken off. Looking at the diagram of it, I am also dumbfounded as to how this thing would get completely broke off through simple daily driving. I am convinced that when they fixing whatever it is they were fixing on the front left "Brake and suspension" , they broke this sensor. When she first got the car.. there were a couple of times it acted funny during rapid acceleration...like it fell on its face and the traction control light flickered, but the car was on dry pavement., I even told her I didn't like that, i wanted the car to go when I told it to go..I am trying to get on the interstate. She asked if it worried me, I told her no..that is what traction control does, it will cut your power back to maintain traction, but it shouldn't be doing it on dry pavement like that, especially with the car already moving. I kind of wrote that instance off because her tire pressure monitors showed one front tire at 35 psi, and another at 30...I figured that might have been messing with it a little so I evened them all out at 32psi. I don't drive the car very much..but she told me a few weeks later that the car had done it again... like it didn't want to go for a second. I just told her to start turning the traction control off. It all leads me to believe that this sensor as always been broken...and it didn't start really creating problems until it showed.
Anyway, sorry for the book, and thank you very much for the responses. Dodge owners rock...I typically get the same type of thing on the Ram truck forums when I have a question and I appreciate it, the thing that used to aggravate me on the Silvy forums before I got rid of that truck was asking a question trying to fix an issue...checking back a couple of days later and seeing 367 views, 0 replies. But ohhhhh if you posted a picture of a new grill you just bought... 5 pages of "looks good man" "where did you get that?" "did you have to mod anything to install that"
