  1. Outrageously helpful resource to have! Thank you so much for sharing.
  2. I am putting together a plug for our PTU, that will be easier for others to put together, and requires no machine work, milling, tapping, etc. I have ordered an M22x1.5 thread male-to-1/4" female pipe thread adapter, and will be putting a grease zerk in the 1/4" pipe thread end. I will take the entire thing out of the PTU, to drain the fluid, and reinstall, and use the grease zerk to fill the PTU with 75w90 synthetic gear oil. I will add a plastic grease zerk cap, to cover, and protect, the grease zerk. I will come back here with pictures, after the adapter has arrived, and I put it together. This should be a cheap, and easy, way to streamline everyone's ability to perform routine maintenance on their PTU. I will also add the part #'s for the adapter, grease zerk, and cap, that I use, after I confirm that they perform the function that I am hoping. Wish me luck guys!
  3. Well, I am on the lookout for a viscous coupler. Really wishing the used parts dealers would sell them separately from the rear diff.
  4. Here is the diagram, and part #'s, for the PTU. Hopefully they help someone out.
  5. Here is the diagram, and part #'s, for the rear differential and viscous clutch assembly. Hopefully they help someone out.
  6. Found these photos of the 8" OEM sub, out of the box, with a measuring tape on it, that might give a little help with deciding what route someone might want to go with replacing their factory sub.
  7. Mark, did you ever get any further on this project? I've been considering the JBL GX963 6x9's, and a Skar IX8 D4 8" dual voice coil 4ohm sub (due to it running off of very low RMS wattage). I read somewhere else, that the Journey door speakers with the Alpine system receive full range, but you said that they only receive mids & lows. Have you confirmed that they only receive mids & lows?
  8. bramfrank, My first step is trying a reformat, and reload, of the music files. Hoping it's something simple. It's weird, because on "Album" search mode, it treats some files as though they are corrupted, and just skips them. But when in "Artist" search mode, it will play the same files just fine. I just prefer the Album search mode, personally.
  9. So, I have always had a USB stick in the console, and played music off of it since 2014. I use the far right button, and dial, below the A/C controls for navigation. All songs on the USB drive have always worked/played, using the "Folder" search option it that automatically goes to when you press the far right button control below the A/C control. Well, a couple of weeks ago, about half of the folders when selected, may just play a single song, and it may not even be the song that gets selected. Also, when you turn the knob, it stays within that same folder, or just plays that specific song over and over again. It used to loop through to the next folder, and you could go through the entire USB stick with the knob. This is getting frustrating. No settings that I have messed with, have nade any difference in this issue. Anybody else had any similar experience?
  10. I have a similar issue with my 2011 R/T. I have left/right controls, but don't have rear A/C controls. My right side blows cold, whether on feet, combination, dash, or defrost. It doesn't matter if it's on Sync, or not. I've tried messing around with adjusting the temp while sync is on, while sync is off, adjusting to cold with sync on, turning sync off, and adjusting each side individually, and vice-versa. I'm really hoping there's some simple "trick" to fixing this, and I don't have to replace the blend door actuator.
  11. I have a 2011 AWD R/T with factory 19" wheels, and factory Kumho's, and untreated roads covered in ice that we've had here in Birmingham, haven't fazed the R/T a single time. I drove all over the place, when the vast majority of people were stranded at home, or the side of the road. I actually was able to help lots of people eat, drink, get home, or get back to their cars that they had to leave in the roads.
  12. I agree with jkeaton. I would most certainly get another opinion from another service department. I have a 2011 R/T, and haven't had any issues with the brakes so far. I hope your issue gets resolved soon, and I hope that you're not getting the run around because you are a female.
  13. Kayaks would be my main reasoning for the roof rails. $400 isn't too terribly bad of a price, but doesn't sound too good either. Haha.
  14. My Journey doesn't have the factory roof rack. I was wondering if anyone has had the roof rails installed after purchasing their Journey? How much did it run you, what was the time for completion, was it done at the dealer, or private shop, and how's the quality of the results?
  15. So, I picked up the new R/T last night, and I am thrilled with it! That AWD kills the FWD feel, IMO. But get this, the owner before me left all of his phone contacts, stored in the UConnect, and had his home and work address still stored in the GPS. He better be glad I'm an honest person.
  16. Cool! Did you match the color, to the lights that are already inside?
  17. I bought a 2012 Journey SXT AWD this past January, and since, have had a pretty unlucky year with it. I absolutely loved the Journey, and no other vehicle compares as far as the combination of features and options goes. Well, less than a month after driving it off of the lot, and before I even made my first payment, I was rear ended on a trip to Mobile, AL. It caused $3500 in damage, and the rear door that needed replaced was on back order, and it was in the shop for a month before finally getting it back. I got the recall notice for the cylinder head having to be replaced, luckily it was in the shop for only 3 days that time! They did a reflash on the computer while it was in also, to fix the rough shift. A few months later, I go out to leave work for lunch, and notice that my side rear window has been shattered by a rock thrown from a lawn mower, by our lawn service. The next month, I walk out of the grocery store, to see where someone had hit it with their car door. Then driving down a dirt road, a tree branch that I couldn't see, scratched the drivers side, from the front fender, all the way down to the rear bumper. Then the whopper! On November 3rd, I get t-boned by a girl that is in a hurry, and doesn't pay attention to me coming from her left side. The quote was at $6900 in damage, and there were parts on back order, that got extended again. More damage was found after tearing down the car, and the insurance company finally made the decision to total it out. And their offer for payout actually ended up being more than I initially paid for the Journey! Almost $2000 more at that. Anyway, the new addition to my driveway is a 2011 Journey R/T AWD!!!! I don't really care for leather interior, and I actually found one of the few that I've seen, with cloth seats too. :-) Needless to say, I'm a happy camper. This is a major upgrade from the 2012 SXT that I had too. Here are some pictures.
  18. The cargo cover has slots that it sits in, that are molded into the trim of the cargo area. There is not a seperate piece that the cargo cover snaps into. Maybe you have a Journey that didn't have the cargo cover option? I didn't even realize that it wasn't a standard feature.
  19. Correct, that nobody was injured in either of the accidents. And I got the feeling that it was cursed, when the dealer got the exact Journey that I wanted, just one week after it was too late to swap the one I had already bought. Haha. But anyway, no pics, or details on the new Journey until I have it in my driveway. Not gonna jinx anything. Haha.
  20. Well, more bad news for the Journey. I was t-boned on November 3rd, by a girl trying to get ahead of someone else as she was leaving her parking deck. Damage assessment was just under $7000. There were parts on back order, and the week before last, they started tearing things down, and found more damage. The already back ordered parts were extended to a farther wait. And last Friday, the insurance company decided to go ahead and right the Journey off as a total loss. I will be posting pics as soon as I get to my computer. Good thing is, I have found a replacement Journey! And it's even better. ;-) I will do another introduction for it, once I have possession of it.
  21. Hopefully you can find a good dealer to go to. I'm sure bad personal experiences there, can make you not confident in their work too.
  22. I agree with the above 2 responses. Is there really anybody alive, that hasn't had a bad experience at a dealership??? Haha. I think it would be more appropriate to focus on the "happy endings". Jim Burke Automotive in Birmingham, Alabama has been great to me so far! My 2012 SXT AWD has been in their body shop for rear end damage in February, and the only problem so far was that the rear door was on back order, which is out of the dealers control. Last month, I had the cylinder #2 misfire, and when I first started talking to the service manager about the issue, he was familiar with it, and put an order in for the "already on back order" cylinder head, while I was still standing there. Although it did take 1.5 weeks to get there, once they received the head, I dropped my car off, and it was ready the next day! Along with a trans reflash, and oil change.
  23. I would talk to a lawyer immediately, and possibly discuss with him a counter suit against her, after this is over with. Frivolous/false claims lawsuits will never end in this country, until the people are held responsible for attempting them.
  24. Pics or it doesn't exist!!! :-P
