rolly reacted to jkeaton in Transmission Shifting
It has been discussed before as being "completely normal", even by my dealer. You can take it in and have them "flash" the transmission module. That has not seemed to help though. Welcome to the forum.

2 different journeys from2011 and2014 havent noticed any thing like that. take it back to the dealer and have them check it out.... take the manager for a drive and point it out to him......

Reflashing the transmission brings it back to factory specs. It will then "learn" your driving habits and shift accordingly. The previous owner probably drove it differently than you. I purchased mine new, and have never had an issue. Usually, I can not feel it shift.

You say you don't want a V6. IMHO, the Pentastar is almost too much engine for my FWD DJ. Torque steer is horrendous. Why could they not come up with equal length half-shafts? I can burn rubber in any instance, even with my oversized tires. I have to keep my hands tightly on the wheel while hard downshifting, but she scoots when necessary.

Take that first dealer off your 'go to' list. You might also want to let him know that their diagnostic skills leave something to be desired.

Welcome to the forum. Happy to see it was an easy fix. A lot of times you can simply undo the battery for 1/2 an hour and it will reset.

rolly reacted to Potlicquor in Seems a good ride...
... owned and driven (maybe not a whole lot) for a year and a half + now, nearly 10K miles and all seems well with the 2015 DJC V6. Initial problem with fueling up was corrected at dealership with a replacement fuel filler neck assembly, two FCA recalls completed (one pending) and a minor broken part by a service technician (dealership will replace) are the only issues thus far. I'm well aware that not all DJ owners are satisfied with theirs for various reasons and I hope they can get any and all problems and/ or issues resolved to their complete satisfaction, praise the Lord mine has been 'a good ride' !

rolly got a reaction from jkeaton in Dont like your Dodge journey? crush it with a tank
I knew a guy who never changed his oil in all the time he owned his car. He would just check the oil and top it off when it was low. Saved a lot of money on oil changes. I don't think I need to tell you how this ended.

rolly got a reaction from dhh3 in DJ comparison
My son had a 2007 Jeep Compass with the CVT and never had a problem. I drove it quite a bit and it was "different" but overall, not a big deal. He just traded it in on a new Journey and I'm sure he'll notice the difference.

Have a 2016 Nissan Altima rental this week. Not nearly as nice to drive as my 2011 DJ.
Likes: Engine has plenty of power, transmission shifts super smooth, base comes with backup cam, great fuel efficiency.
Dislikes: Steering wheel is too small, interior controls are wonky, seats are a strange material, no lumbar adjustment, backup cam screen is small.
Overall the Altima is not as fun to drive as my DJ. Lots of interior noise and twitchy steering. Small steering wheel makes that worse. Engine and transmission seem good but I'm afraid to use all of the power. Maybe that would get better with time. I miss the cargo space of my DJ this week.
Anyway, good car, but I prefer my 5 year old DJ overall.
Peace.

rolly reacted to onecrazyfoo4u in Lifting the Vehicle at a Certain Point to lift Both Wheels
I always jack it about a foot back from the front jacking point, on the pinch weld. That gets both wheels in the air at the same time, then throw jack stands on the front and back. Never had a problem doing this, and I've done it on all of my prior vehicles this same way...

The owner's manual shows the jack points in the tire changing section. The vehicle may not be designed to do what you are attempting to do.

This sounds like the guy from Argentina. His car also suddenly quit on his way home. He never posted back what the problem was.
I never had any electronic issues with my 2003 Jeep Liberty Renegade. My 2006 Jeep Commander and my 2011 Nitro each had occasional electronic hiccups! Thank God for warranties.

I love my DJ, but man it's like sensor madness on these new cars. I have no idea what's going on in this case, but it seems like some sensor caused you to be stranded. Which is worse, the problem it's sensing or the sensor? Ha! Compared to my Dakota, the DJ is more like the space shuttle! Sensors on everything. I suppose it's better now? I'll be waiting for an update. Good luck.

rolly reacted to jkeaton in Wheel fell off, Tire spoke broken
Don't know if she's talking about wheel studs or wheel spokes. At any rate, it is not a common issue and it had to have hit an object (curb, pothole, etc) pretty severely to break either one of those things. Need more info besides "this car has given us nothing but issues".

rolly reacted to Neto in Wheel fell off, Tire spoke broken
Either they have an extra car, or she got her spokes figured out. Here & gone.

rolly reacted to dhh3 in Wheel fell off, Tire spoke broken
Over torquing the lug nuts might cause the aluminum wheel to fracture around the stud holes. Some tire jocks go way overboard with their air guns.
