  1. If you do not know the age of the battery, that may be the issue not that it is not big enough. If you are concerned get it load tested or simply remove the current one and replace with a quality new battery. If I recall there was a little extra room where the battery sits but, getting it into position was tight. I do not know if you could get a bigger battery into position in the first place. If it is cold enough, any battery will be affected, just buy the same physical size battery with the highest CC amps if that is what you want. Do yourself a favor and treat all the connections with protective grease before sealing everything back up, a bit of a PITA having to open it all up multiple times.

  2. My dad installed the flat running boards, they looked good and were black.  The only issue I saw was they did not stick out enough, were tough to get a good footing on.  They needed to be wider, not sure how that would affect stepping / using them then. The vehicle is not quite high enough off the ground to need them I think. It was weird using them, you were forced to take a half step.

  3. Can't believe it has been 10 years here, enjoyed reading  and learning from all of you.  Our 2012 SXT 3.6 L with 131,000 kms has treated out family very well but just was time to move on to another vehicle,, more and more things starting to need replacement it seems simply due to age / mileage ( plus the $6000 trade offer I got ).. The boys no longer need a baseball and hockey team equipment hauling around vehicle.  Guess that means it is time for dad to finally get something for himself, a black 2021 Colorado Z71 midnight edition.  Thanks to everyone who helped educate me and hope I in turn was able to help some others a little also. My journey will be remembered as one of the most trouble free vehicles I've owned besides the damn partial heater core plugging / poor heat on passenger side issue LOL. Take care everyone.

  4. I always buy the better brakes, even if you only get twice the miles out of them, your still saving money.  Rotors, I buy OEM and haggle a better price buy showing them the aftermarket prices and warranties. just find the OEM rotors are better overall IMO. I think if you put a better brake on a cheaper rotor you just wasted all your money, you'll end up replacing both sooner than later. Never bothered with ceramic brakes, maybe I'm missing out, but again probably need to pair them with quality rotors too ?

  5. Howitzer,

My 2012 SXT  FWD with 127,000 kms  did not have any play in the wheels, but had low volume howl, and no noticeable temperature difference. Perhaps just not at that point yet to feel play in hub bearing when when performing  the 3 and 9 test.  Changing both front bearings solved issue, then could hear slight rear noise …..changed both those too; no more noises LOL

  6. I mentioned the core sand months ago, after speaking to a neighbour and, having your exact same issue. Glad to hear the thought was confirmed ...kinda ?  Decided to live with it until the 2012 is replaced, not changing the core again. Awesome write up, really hope your fix works for a long time, you did a lot of work ( making a air / water flush gun )  LOL

Having problems with heater vent system on 2014 dodge journey.

Let us guess, little or no heat on the passenger side vents ?  Check all actuator door operations, if working; my guess lower half of heater core plugged. might need to replace the core ?

    As mentioned, need more details.

  8. I probably spent about $100 cdn in fluid in total , as mentioned 5 liter original pan removal / cleaning, gasket material and filter replacement ( $30- $40 ). Then syphoned 3 ltrs at a time out twice about a week apart each time until oil looked brand new. Maybe 4 hours time for all those changes. Probably cost about half what your are being quoted, easy job on nice days plus a good excuse to sit and enjoy a beer while the pan finished dripping. John / Horace I think is correct, change the filter don't just do a flush job, no matter who is doing it, mine was done at 100.000 kms

  9.  Mechanic said it was the computer. I had Dodge ordered the computer ($500) and had Dodge install and program it today. ($469) The mechanic at Dodge said it needed a new battery too. I got that. He installed and went to start it and black smoke filled the garage and it started and was running. But was running in limp home mode. Absolutely no power and the lightening bolt thingy flashing again. It stalled and wouldn't start 4 miles down the road. After paying Dodge and towing it around all day, I'm broke

Dodge dealer diagnosed the problem and did the work, to fix the issue they found ( they scanned for codes then,) It stopped working after you left their shop. Speak to that shop manager or call the customer complaint line for Dodge...someone here must also know that number for you. You paid for professionals to diagnose and repair the issue, make them stand by their work, and warranty on that work performed.

  10. I hear ya, our 2012 SXT has treated us well, wife is saying I should look at another vehicle now that we have 125,000 kms (78,00 miles) on her. Other than routine things like brakes, tires, plugs and trans flush the only other things changed were hub bearings, thermostat and heater core. Plenty of road trips to ball tournaments loaded with team gear over the years for sure, those scratches on the bumper plate always make me smile. ( always told the players lift the bags don't just pull LOL ). Our journey has treated us well, its a tough call put new tires on her or, trade her in in the next 3-4 months. Hope your car continues to treat you as well as mine did, thanks for reminding me Armando G.

  11. Scroller61,

As 2late4u said once the actuator is exposed, I used a 1/4" philips bit on a small ratchet and a stubby philips screw driver on the two screws. Easy to change but, a PITA to get in there, plan on a sore neck and back from laying on the floor bent like a pretzel looking up. Another forum member indicating after changing the actuator will self adjust itself after a few cycles.

Hi, I have a 2012 Dodge Journey and I am getting heat coming out of all the vents except for passenger side floor. Has this problem happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to fix the problem?

    Thank you

    Scroller61

Is it just the floor vent has no heat to the passenger far side  or all vents on that far side ?
