  1. Probably because this thread is from 2008. The Journey was a different vehicle back then.
  2. Go here and enter the last 8 digits of your VIN. https://rsur.extra.chrysler.com/rsur/Uconnect.do
  3. Reading text messages is advertised as a feature of Uconnect, but it only supports a very small number of phones that nobody actually has. It works great with my wife's Explorer and my iPhone. Chrysler doesn't seem to update existing versions of Uconnect, so the current functionality is most likely what we're stuck with.
  4. That was debunked in the first season of Mythbusters.
  5. I think an adapter will be your best bet. Then you can just use a regular zero rise (or even drop) ball mount. This is the one that I have: http://www.amazon.com/Manufacturing-45013-Vertical-Receiver-Adaptor/dp/B003721BVK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1371128533&sr=8-1&keywords=vertical+hitch+adapter
  6. Nope, that's not the case. I have a 2012 Crew with the smaller brakes.
  7. Works fine with my iPhone 5 and my wife's Explorer (MyFordTouch). Doesn't work at all with my DJ. This would have to be fixed by Chrysler, but judging by the frequency of updates that they've released for Uconnect thus far, I think we're out of luck.
  8. I've asked this question many times. You won't receive a logical answer because there is no logical reason why they would be disabled from the factory when there's a perfectly good menu option in Uconnect to turn them on and off. My guess is that whoever at Chrysler made the decision to have them disabled didn't realize that there was already a user-accessible option to turn them on and off. The good news is that once you get the dealer to enable them, they work perfectly and can be turned on and off at will
  9. Even though it's in the owner's manual, that feature didn't exist in the 2011 model. They added it for 2012. Same with voice command for the Nav system.
  10. It does take a bit of driving for the car to auto-learn the new sensors. But I've never seen the warning come on during that time. My guess is that Costco installed the wrong sensors. Not all 433Mhz sensors are the same.
  11. Yes, I called the Chrysler Customer Care line and reported the problem. I'd love any help you can provide, but I'm not in Canada. I would imagine that will limit the help you can provide? Thanks!
  12. Goodyear is now making these tires in the stock 225/55R19 size. Not sure how good they are, but it's nice to see other tire manufacturers providing options for this odd size. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Assurance+CS+Fuel+Max&partnum=255HR9ACSFM&vehicleSearch=true&fromCompare1=yes&autoMake=Dodge&autoYear=2012&autoModel=Journey&autoModClar=Crew
  13. I would be perfectly fine with that, but it's never less than 10 minutes for me and often closer to 20. Chrysler and my dealer both say there's nothing wrong with my system. It's working as designed. My dealer even went further to say that every time you cycle the ignition, the system is supposed to recognize the iPod as if it was plugged in for the first time and do a full index. I pointed out that the manual clearly states it should only re-index if the content changes. He just shrugged.
  14. Saying things like "It doesn't work" isn't specific enough to tell anyone anything. The article above was referring to the 8.4 system, which is quite different from yours.
  15. At first, I was using an iPod touch with thousands of songs. But since I've been having the re-indexing problem, I've switched to an iPod Nano with 195 songs. It doesn't seem to make a difference. Can you select songs with voice command right after starting your car? I can't until it's done re-indexing, which makes the feature useless except on longer trips. It's not always 20 minutes, but it often is. You system plays the remaining time on the song that was playing when you left? Mine starts the last song over every time. Another annoyance.
  16. I like the 8.4N system overall as well. But there are a few little issues that really annoy me. The biggest issue for me is that every time I cycle the ignition, the iPod has to be re-indexed and voice command isn't available until it's done, which can take 20 minutes. According to the manual, that's not supposed to happen unless you change the content on the iPod. I've complained about this issue to Chrysler and my dealer, but both say that it's working as designed, which makes absolutely no sense. Why would they design the system to re-index the iPod every time you restart the car when it already has a full index? I was hoping this would be fixed in a future update, but now I'm fearing that fixes and new features may just be added to future model years, and previous model years will be stuck with the version of Uconnect that came on them.
  17. Maybe they mean that the old-style Garmin system that was still in the Ram and several other Chrysler vehicles has been tossed and is now being replaced with the new-style 8.4" Garmin system that's used in the Journey, 300, and Dart? Dunno.
  18. Looks like Chrysler and Garmin have made some improvements for the 2013 Nav system. It clearly states it's for 2013 models, so I'm guessing that means that these updates will not be coming to 2011 and 2012 models. http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/01/garmin-new-in-dash-features-chrysler/
  19. That annoyed me too, so I just turned off the autolock feature. Now the people in the back can get in and out at their leasure. Much better, in my opinion.
  20. The Sirius tuner will have its own remote ( it comes with two actually), so the kids can control it themselves. There really isn't much to control though. They can flip between the 3 channels, but that's really it.
  21. I installed it myself. I just have it plugged into the AV inputs on the back of the center console. Works great, and the kids love it.
  22. I believe they started showing up on dealer lots around February, but it depends when your car was built. It's an easy modification if you'd prefer the red stripes.
  23. As I posted in another thread, that update does NOT apply to the Journey.
  24. I checked with DodgeCares as soon as that update was released. It does not apply to the Journey.
