  1. You get a new RB5 module and plug it in - you get an unlock code to tie it to your VIN and you're good. Note that there are several different generations of the device, you want the 3rd. And it can't have come from a Dart. I have a spare RB5 on the shelf in my garage that is for sale for what I paid for it ($800) plus shipping.
  2. You have the navigation package (hence the icon that says 'nav' at the bottom of the screen). You also have a sick Bluetooth module. You have four hours of driving plus the usual wasted time sitting at the dealer to look forward to. Check to be certain he has a new module on the shelf to avoid a second 4 hour drive.
  3. Wasn't that recall simply to correct a issue where a key with a heavy ring attached would cause the ignition to turn off?
  4. It could well be that the antenna for that wheel has gone defective or the antenna cable has broken too . . . . . .
  5. You DO realise that I already answered his question, right? There isn't anything more than your tech support can do. If he wants integrated Nav he/she needs to buy the right version of the TGM and spend the 5 minutes it takes to install it.
  6. If your unit had Nav it would have a soft key for it on the bottom row. So you have no nav. I bought an overpriced replacement TGM that has the nav in it (and bought a spare because no one knew how o deal with the 'ca't load maps' problem that appears from time to time for some people). So now I have nav (and also a spare Nav-equipped TGM that I bought as a 'just in case' spare that is available for purchase at my cost).
  7. That's just the way it works. If you want to see titles and artwork connect via USB. As a bonus it will keep your device charged.
  8. Actually, no Journey brochure says it is a software option - an order-time option for certain, but not software enabled.
  9. You were looking at the wrong brochure. uConnect 8.4 A and 8.4AN are the configurable models. The 'A' requires a code to activate the navigator. Neither has Carplay as far as I know. uConnect 4C, yet another incarnation does have carplay Assuming your vehicle has the 8.4" display it has Uconnect 8.4 or 8.4N - previous generation devices.
  10. My 14 Crossroad is just fine. Of course, because I wrote this it will soon all go bad!!!
  11. If the people who changed the battery did it right they connected a small keep-alive battery to maintain the various settings - however if something glitched, all that would do is carry the fault past the battery swap. Have you tried a reset by disconnecting the battery and leaving it sit for an hour or so? If you try the disconnect/wait/reconnect sequence, when reconnecting the battery try not to bobble the connection to prevent glitching.
  12. The most common reason is chafed wiring in the harness where is passes through the corrugated conduit that connects the body to the lift gate.
  13. I don't know why you said this. uConnect with Bluetooth works perfectly with my Android 10 phone, and with all my previous phones. It also works with my daughter's IOS phone. On the other hand, if you are diving the '09 listed in your profile, it might explain a lot. The entertainment system in the old models is indeed very outdated.
  14. There's good news, and there's bad news. Most (but not all) vehicles quipped with the 8.4 have Bluetooth. Only *some* vehicles with the 8.4 come with navigation. You can swap out the TGM (the radio/aircondtioning/controls interface, located behind the temperature/volume/tuning panel) for one from a vehicle with the navigation - that's plug and play with no codes required to flash nor any antenna to purchase because the GPS shares the Sirius/XM antenna. You will need an easily obtained unlock code to enable the module. If you have the Bluetooth/voice command controls on your steering wheel you likely have a blown Bluetooth module, which sits under the dash, above the steering wheel. A new module will make it play. But if you don't have the buttons, then adding the OEM Bluetooth is not going to b a simple task because the buttons and cabling will not be in place. From there, you can also add he backup camera - the kit you'd need for that includes the cable harness and does require flashing a code. I happen to have a nav-equipped TGM sitting on my shelf, available for purchase. I got it before we figured out how to get these things going again if they failed with a 'can't unlock maps' error and the dealers were useless in fixing the problem - this is one of the later ones, which were equipped to receive traffic guidance from Sirius/XM (a subscription service).
  15. That last one is to keep someone from driving off without the FOB. And if someone tried to put the wrong oil filter in (there are 2 versions) you'd be replacing the assembly.
  16. You have at least one bad ground - that's why the rear wiper only works when the backup lights are on. And where here's one bad ground there are likely more. Up where live I rustproof our vehicles and as a result we don't get those types of problem.
  17. The issue I had was with the statement 'spotty at best'. 'Spotty' means they fail more often than they work and clearly that is not the case. I've had two journeys and have had no BT issues beyond an infant mortality failure of the BT module on my current Journey within a month or so of getting it which was resolved during a one hour visit to my dealer, where the defective component was replaced. Has the dealer (who admittedly may well be useless) had the opportunity to fix your 'spotty' Bluetooth?
  18. I wonder whether the update file wasn't for a vehicle manufactured for spanish-speaking markets - this might well be a mistake uconnect would made posting the update files or perhaps in allocating the update file for your VIN. The version of CTP17 I have for my 2014 works just fine in my vehicle if you'd like me to send a copy to you.
  19. "Spotty at best"? Nope. Perhaps in your specific vehicle, but there are many, many hundreds of thousands of these out there working perfectly, just in Journeys and millions more in other FCA vehicles. Get your vehicle/phone properly diagnosed and join the vast majority of FCA vehicle owners whose BT works properly. Find a good tech to handle the job (easier said, than done).
  20. You don't need the donor vehicle's VIN or any permission letters to have the dealer generate the code. And powering the radio down ought not have triggered the lock.
  21. My vehicle was/is supposed to have the pre-installed harness - I couldn't find the connector if it was. I ran the wire from the stern to dash and had the dealer make the connection when I brought it in to have the sales code added - he agreed to a price of 1 hours' labour for both (which is apparently the shop minimum anyway). So, yes.
