  1. Welcome Mike. Your English is much better than my French so no need to apologize. Towing mirrors seem to be a difficult thing to find for the DJ. However, I picked up the strap on ones from CanTire and they work well. (about $35.00 each) You might be advised to get those small stick on convex mirrors for the lower outside corner of both mirrors (the ones that came with the DJ) and use them as well. I am sure in time there will be a custom fitted tow mirror but I haven't come across one yet. Check out the first picture of the four I posted in New Hitch Installed Towing 3350 lbs with Journey Enjoy the trailer and Happy Journey(s)
  2. I posted elsewhere a few months ago about a replacement of the steering rack in my 09 DJ. At 30,000kms the tie rod ends were worn which caused excessive and unacceptable play. So much so it failed mandatory regulated vehicle inspection. There were no suppliers yet for the tie rod ends so the dealer replaced the entire steering rack under warranty. No issues since. They also suggested I get a FE Alignment..I said what a good idea...go ahead but I am not paying for it. Free it was. Can't comment on the ticking as no issues there.
  3. uConnect says you can connect up to 7 phones to it. I have two, a personal and a work cell. Both are pared and assigned priority levels. However....if both are in the vehicle (which they usually always are) the level 2 priority phone (work) is never connected unless I push it to # 1. Seems to me that if I connect 7 phones and all of them are present and assigned descending priorities then all should be recognized when present..correct? I understand the directions to state that the highest priority phone takes precedence on incoming and outgoing calls. Is this a fault or I am doing something wrong here. I pride myself is being somewhat fluent in technogeezer stuff and this one is stumping me. Any help will be appreciated.

  5. It is not a matter of changing the visor or adding the buttons. You need the transmitter as well which is in the roof liner somewhere above the rear view mirror. The Homelink is part of the convenience group I believe, It will work with anything that operates on a radio frequency..such as lights, gate openers. garages etc. I am in the process of attempting to set mine up to turn on and off my house alarm. As soon as I get the wireless link installed into the alarm that is.

    Seat Cover

Question for those who have CoverKing seat covers installed... I ordered / received front and second row covers. They are of superior quality I might add and install/fit very well. My question is - there was a single piece about 12 in X 15 inches with three plastic pieces sewn into one edge. and two elastics with hooks attached on the opposite edge. I thought there was to be a cover for the console and I assume this is it. How does it install? I cannot figure it out. Or if this is not for the console...what is it for?
  7. Navigation updates are available for European operations. They can be had from your dealer or through NavTeq on line. Cost around $200.00. The updates are normally released in early April so you may luck out and get a very recent one. The good thing about these updates is that it also includes an update for the MyGig software. I copied the below from the 300 Forum to give you an idea. Good luck. Chrysler 300C, Sebring, Voyager, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Commander, Compass, Patriot, Cherokee, Wrangler, Dodge Nitro, Avenger, Caliber and Journey. The new update "MyGIG / UConnect" includes more than eight million kilometers of roads and provides maps for Eastern Europe and complete maps for Western Europe and Poland. In addition to the drivers around one million points of interest (POIs) such as banks / ATMs, restaurants and hotels are available. NAVTEQ maps are the most commonly used card in the world .* Geographic analysts make millions of changes to the road network and extend the NAVTEQ map data continuously. This driver is available from Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles, buy an upgrade and ever timely and comprehensive map data available. Map updates contain the latest information on roads, so Navis can be used effectively. With current cards drivers can reduce their travel time and reduce petrol consumption. They also mean that navigation systems and portable devices to function optimally. Map update for Europe are now the dealer for the MyGIG / UConnect-Navi Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge on DVD for $ 199 Available
  8. Sounds like a wiring problem to the motor. Your dealer should have a look at it.
  9. It is possible - if you have thousands of spare $$$. There is more to it than a few extra buttons. uConnect is part of the radio system and is integrated through a separate module. There are lots of options out there but I fear they may not be as good as factory installed uConnect. It is a worthwhile accessory seeing how many jurisdictions require this 'hands free' technology. I understand all FOBs for the Journey are capable of being programmed to the vehicle. So a used one, if functioning properly will be programable.
  10. Separate. All you get is the wire harness and oil cooler. Lots of threads here on the hitches / receivers available. Ensure you read them before settling on any one style. This is due largely to your towing needs.
  11. Now this is a strange problem. Not heard of before by me although I have heard the RKE can be programmed to ensure the windows are 'up' when locked by the RKE.
  12. No it can not. Remote start tricks the vehicle into thinking the key is in the ignition, except for the brake wiring that shuts it off if the key is not in and turned on. The only way is to avoid radio on with remote start is to turn off the radio before you remove the key.
  13. Are you going down to the 'dock' to greet it? Enjoy your new ride...
  14. On flat ground it should move ahead slowly. On a hill or slight incline the built in 'inclinometer' engages and keeps it from roiling backwards / and going ahead until you hit the gas pedal. (So I'm told)
  15. "I dont plan on loading it up with anything to crazy. Just normal stuff like water gas bedding and the likes. Does that stuff all count in the GVWR?" YES The 3500 lbs rating for the DJ includes everything the DJ will have to tow. Including dirt. I expect you may not have any difficulty moving this unit. I may suggest that you ask your dealer (travel trailer dealer) to 'borrow' the trailer for a test pull. You will be able to tell quickly if you will have any troubles. One way to keep your GVWR to a minimum is to not haul fresh water to and from campsites if at all possible. (Full tank of fresh water is about 250-300 lbs. Most sites have water hookup. Dump stations at or near the sites should be visited when leaving the camps as well.
  16. Costco.com has the Coverking WetSkins covers on sale. $30.00 off one row, $60.00 off 2 rows, $100.00 off 3 rows. Starts 2010-04-05. Ends April 25
  17. Check out the Towing and Hauling section in this forum. I have pics there of a class III with load leveller and 3500 lbs of trailer attached.
  18. Welcome to the forum maaddmax. Here are the answers you are looking for. Transmission cooler.... Don't think it is needed. The transmission fluid is already cooled by a coil wrapped around the A/C condensor. You may be referring to an engine oil cooler which may or may not be needed. It is your choice - depends on the road surface (paved vs dirt) , trailer weight, amount of towing, speeds etc. Changing the oil at 3K miles / 5k kms may be the easiest and safest way. First - dry weight - is the weight of the trailer without any accessories, water, food, sewage, clothes, lawn chairs, TV, games etc etc. GVWR is the Gross Vehicle Weight and is the the maximum recommended overall weight including all extras. It includes the dry weight and anything else you put in the trailer. If you have a trailer loaded and ready to haul you can stop at a State / Provincial truck weigh scales and if they are not busy they will weigh your rig for you so will know. The example camper you mention at 3450 lbs (dry) is close to the max recommended for the DJ. You can add another 1000 lbs to that weight when loaded and that puts the weight a fair bit over the max. You will have difficulty moving the rig. This also adds 480 lbs to your DJ (tongue weight and load leveller draw bar) and with two adults and three kids (and maybe a dawg??) you are nearing the max of the GVWR for the Journey as well. Is this a single or dual axle trailer? Judging form the dry weight I suspect dual. You may want to consider a hybrid ultra light. They are a Travel tralier camper with drop down tent ends that give the space you may be looking for and lighter in weight. Palomino Stampede 17 ' is an example trailer. Good luck and happy camping. Bugs
  19. Costco.com has the Coverking seat covers for sale again. They are custom cut to fit the DJ and in a variety of colours. For Canadian members of Costco you cannot order and ship to Canada. The only way to do it is to purchase a Costco cash card in US dollars and arrange for a US shipping address. Perhaps you have a friend in a border State that will accept the delivery. I am expecting mine this week. Three weeks from order to delivery to me through a US shipping address. Not bad. $40.00 Customs fee. Total $400.00 two rows. You cannot use a Canadian addressed credit card on Costco.com thus the Cash Card use.
  20. There is a topic on tis already. Search it out. Short answer. Yes it can be done. Your SXT has a transmission cooler and the oil cooler setup will cost +/- $500.00 to install. In the end it may not be needed as the oil is already cooled in the rad.
  21. All season tires are not snow tires. period. As far as getting an alternate size. Try this site and pound in your tire size to see how it changes your speedometer. www.Miata.net or google tire conversion calculator and follow the link to Miata
  22. REN is single disc player. I do not think you can store video on the hard drive either. Sounds like it will be one movie at a time unless you upgrade. That would be expensive.
  23. What model do you have (three letters in lower right corner..ie " reu, req etc? If you have mygig with nav you should have the six disc.
  24. Welcome to the forum. You will not be disappointed (too much) with a Journey. However, the level of disappointment will rise with the 4 cyl choice. This is a heavy vehicle for a 4 cyl to propel. If you plan on doing some towing, more than two in vehicle etc. then the 3.5 is the way to go.
  25. The hard disc will always 'charge' when you open the door. It is getting set for ignition. The noise you hear is normal and has minimal or no power drain. The radio is off when the ignition is off and the shutdown timer has expired (usually 30 seconds to couple of minutes depending on how you set it up). I may suggest you ask the dealer to check for residual power drain with the ignition off to see where the power is being drawn. I cannot comment on the protection afforded to the battery in this vehicle but in some it is standard (higher end) or aftermarket install.
