  1. I have a set installed on 2009 SXT. It may or may not help your young Journeyer in and out. These rails are pretty well in line with the black plastic rock guard that runs the length wheel to wheel and stick out no more than 4 or 5 inches. I know they are of no use to an adult for entry/exit but a child maybe. The best use, other than cosmetic is that seem to keep other people's car doors off yours in parking lots.

    Gas mileage

I have 75,000 kms on my 2009 SXT. I do not separate city from hwy mileage and my average is around 11.2 l/100km. I do have some hwy only calculations as low as 9.6 l/100 to a high of 31 l/100. The low was at 100 kph over 900 km. The high was towing 3500 lb trailer in the tail end of a hurricane with 80 km/h headwind. Really sucked the fuel that day. Every two hours stopping for a fill up. Overall I am satisfied with the fuel consumption.
  3. My 2009 has it as well. A far as i have determined it refers to engine hours (run time)
  4. Uhaul makes a class III hitch for the Journey. Installed runs arounds 250.00. There should be some pics in the hauling section under 'towing 3500 lbs'

    towing

I have posted elsewhere on this forum relative to towing large weights. For a 6 cyl 3.5 l I have had no issues hauling 3500 lbs of trailer with two adults and a dog. Yes gas consumption increases and why wouldn't it. With the proper distribution and draw bar set up (load leveling) you will have no problem towing your boat as described. That is providing of course you are not powered by the 4 cyl. Check out the hauling and towing section for further info.
  6. Any of you with 2011 model year Journeys with the new 6 cyl engine computed any mileage figures yet? If so, will you share them and don't forget to mention if US or Imperial gallons are used. Thanks
  7. Try in the frame directly in line with the scissor jack points. That where I have success.
  8. Someone is excited. Congrats, we will all be waiting your review after a few days of custody.
  9. Does the 2011 model year have the SXT label? or has it been dropped for 'crew' edit never mind that SE, SXT, Crew and R/T are available or 2011
  10. And the correct answer comes from Deckster. It is the sensor for the auto climate control. Check closely, you should be able to adjust temp separately for passenger and driver. The rear view sensor is beside the green light on the mirror.
  11. My hound loves travelling in the back and I understand the problem you have encountered. Here is my solution. I went to the building supplies store and purchased a 6 foot rolled outdoor rubber / vinyl backed carpet. It is the exact width of the storage area (wheel well to well)) so it fit in perfectly. When I put up the rear seats the carpet follows and bends with the moves. No need to remove. it covers the holes too and is washable with the garden hose.
  12. Wondering if the tow weight limit was increased with the increased HP of the Pentastar 6 cyl. Anyone? Currently at 3500 lbs. Hoping for 4500 lb or even 5K lbs
  13. Found this in a Police Det on my travels last summer.
  14. WASHINGTON — Chrysler is recalling nearly 150,000 trucks and SUVs to address several problems, including steering, air bag issues and the potential for trucks to stall. The recalls were posted Thursday on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website. Chrysler is conducting three separate recalls to fix the problems. The first one covers about 22,000 Dodge Ram trucks from the 2008-2011 model years to address steering problems. The second involves about 65,000 2009 model year Dodge Journey SUVs to fix side air bags that might not deploy. The last includes about 57,000 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks from the 2011 model year to fix components in rear axles that could cause the trucks to stall. Chrysler says owners can call (800) 853-1403 for more information. Check on yours before you need the air bag (hopefully you will never see it !!)
  15. Human nature dictates that we will complain before we will congratulate. That goes for complaining about our vehicles as well when things just don't go the way we hoped. When you look at the number of complaints on here and how relatively minor they are and correctable by proper maintenance and dealer attention then I think you may do well with the purchase. My suggestion to you is this --- Ask your father if he would buy this vehicle knowing what it has done for him since he first drove it. $10K for a 2009 SXT is a great price. I do not know what options are included in this vehicle but considering what else is out there for this kind of cash, I would seriously consider it. 64K miles is a lot for this 2 year old vehicle and if all he has done is replace brake pads twice and have a 'ticking' noise cared for then i suspect not much else is going to happen other than fair wear and tear. Have a good chat with Dad and come to an informed decision. Good luck
  16. Look close at the downloaded photo of the center console which includes the shift stick. Autostick is there, the +/- is there quite clearly. I wonder what the tow capabilities are with the new engine.
  17. Yes you should be here, and finally - welcome..I hope you got a Gem of a Journey after all you went through. Enjoy
  18. Well this must be a record. Seventeen months with an unanswered question. I am using a simple set up. I cannot recall the name or manufacturer but they have a mirror head (flat for drvr, convex for pass) with a 1/2" aluminum arm which is attached to a suction mount. They install / remove easily and do not vibrate. The best thing is they are adjusted by the remote because they attach directly to the mirror glass. Costs about $35.00 each. If the arm was 2 " longer it would be even better. try this link. They are called Tow and See http://images.channeladvisor.com/Sell/SSProfiles/43000128/images/4/23-0386.jpg
  19. It is mid morning Monday here on the east coast of the 'Americas', mid afternoon in UK. So --- did you get it? fingers crossed here for you both.
  20. Welcome and bummer on the first days with the ride. Hopefully all was repaired properly and you are enjoying your buggy.

    new journey

40 views and no welcome - how unfriendly of us. Perhaps it is just visitors checking you out. Welcome - Bienvenue (sp?) to the club, take time and search around. Lots of great info here. Share with us what it is you have for a Journey.
  22. This is truly disturbing. It sounds to me that your dealer is holding out so that they may benefit from a finance incentive. Hopefully you have a record of the contacts and can refer to them when you negotiate the 0 % when the the vehicle finally arrives. If they are so certain that the vehicle is arriving 'tomorrow' then they will have access to the VIN which you have every right to acquire. Get the VIN and ask them to do a locate on the vehicle. You may be surprised to see where it is. It could very well be in the lot hidden away - or even better still - not even in the country. Good luck and keep pressing them. Hopefully you may become a legitimate member with a prize in the drive to back it up.
  23. See video of line workers in Detroit on their 'lunch' break. That may explain the reason.
  24. Sounds like a similar problem that JessicaA is having. (See I hate this POS Journey). I experienced the same issue more than once in the past. It turned out to be the 'handshake' between the key fob and the receiver. Have the dealer re-sinc the two key fobs to e vehicle. I had no further issues since it was done. Good luck.
