  1. The Journey is built on the Avenger platform and they brought the brakes with it. Doesn't seem to be fixed from what I hear. You should be able to get a couple of good stops out of the factory pads before you need to change them. The average life is around 20K km or 12K miles. Perhaps as part of a sale deal you can talk the dealer into ceramic pads right of the get go. I am sure they will know exactly what you speak of when you mention the bicycle brakes they put on the Journey on the line.
  2. Not heard of this before. I have REU as well. But I let my Sirius lapse so I can't look at the screen. However, I do not recall seeing a 'pen' when I did have that option. Can you describe it better. Is it an icon on the screen, bottom, top, left, right. Even a pic would help.

    Mirror lights

You are probably looking at the light sensor pointing out the rear window. It senses light from behind and dims your mirror.
  4. Depends on it is you are talking about?
  5. If you say 'call house' as one command it won't recognize it. Try saying 'call' wait for the prompt for the name and say 'house' or 'home' or whatever it is called. If this is what you are doing and it is not working, then I say there is an issue. This way works in mine. It sounds like it is not storing the names that are assigned at all. Perhaps it is being done wrong. from the manual.: ² Press the PHONE button to begin. ² After the 9Ready9 prompt and the following beep, say "Phonebook New Entry. " ² When prompted, say the name of the new entry. Use of long names helps the voice recognition and it is recommended. For example, say "Robert Smith" or "Robert" instead of "Bob". ² When prompted, enter the number designation (e.g., "Home", "Work," "Mobile," or "Pager"). This will allow you to store multiple numbers for each phonebook entry, if desired. ² When prompted, recite the phone number for the phonebook entry that you are adding. After you are finished adding an entry into the phonebook, you will be given the opportunity to add more phone numbers to the current entry or to return to the main menu. The UConnectt system will allow you to enter up to 32 names in the phonebook with each name having up to four associated phone numbers and designations. Each language has a separate 32-name phonebook accessible only in that language.
  6. Here it is: There appears to be no remedy for changing non EVIC equipped vehicles. However, one may ask the Service dude to hook up Star Scan and maybe it can be programmed through that for up to the ten minutes. For vehicles not equipped with the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC), the power window switches, radio, power sunroof (if equipped), and ignition-powered power outlets will remain active for approximately 45 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position. Opening either front door will cancel this feature. ² For vehicles equipped with the EVIC, the power window switches, radio, power sunroof (if equipped), and ignition-powered power outlets will remain active for up to 10 minutes after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position. Opening either front door will cancel this feature. The time for this feature is programmable. Refer to “Key-Off Power Delay,” under “Personal Settings (Customer Programmable Features)” under “Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC)” in Section 4. Section 4: “KEY-OFF POWER DELAY” When this feature is selected, the power window switches, radio, hands-free system (if equipped), DVD video system (if equipped), power sunroof (if equipped), and ignition powered outlets will remain active for up to 10 minutes after the ignition switch is turned OFF. Opening a vehicle door will cancel this feature. To make your selection, press and release the RESET button until “Off,” “45 sec.,” “5 min.,” or “10 min.” appears.
  7. Not a problem ale2010. I am not familiar with the 2.7 and just assumed it may have been a diesel. We will all wait the arrival of your new friend and anxiously read your review.
  8. I am assuming you refer to the lugs with the tamper proofed edges (round) and the engraved recess that accepts the key? They work well and cause no balance / alignment issues. They are easy to install (one per rim) and make sure you keep the key in the vehicle somewhere - especially service time - also make sure you get some with the same shoulder & thread as the factory lugs.
  9. The compass is looking to be 'calibrated' Usually calls for driving in a circle away from metal structures. Should be explained in the manual, page 225 of said booklet says this: Automatic Compass Calibration This compass is self-calibrating, which eliminates the need to calibrate the compass manually. When the vehicle is new, the compass may appear erratic and the EVIC will display “CAL” until the compass is calibrated. You may calibrate the compass by slowly completing one or more 360-degree turns (in an area free from large metal or metallic objects) until the “CAL” message displayed in the EVIC turns off. The compass will now function normally.
  10. You will need a uConnect module & a GPS antenna for either of these to work. The wiring harness is different too. Does the CD, hard drive or radio work?
  11. Just as a reminder to all: 2.4l and 2.7l requires 5W20 and the 3.5l is 10W30. Warbird: sounds like you enjoyed 'exploring' under the block. Doing it yourself is a great idea if you are comfortable with it. That way you can tell if something is amiss from the last time you crawled under and you can deal with it or least report it to the dealer.
  12. Diddo on the welcome. I am curious to know how the 2.7 diesel behaves. I assume it has ample power and gets decent mileage. It is mentioned throughout the forum periodically...we in North America just do not have access to the option of a diesel. Too bad really.
  13. Welcome to the club Tro1104.. Sounds like you found a vehicle you are happy with. Hopefully you have reviewed various areas of this forum to understand all the little details of the vehicle. Most of the stuff you describe is standard issue on the SXT except for the upgrade stereo, sunroof and dual climate (nice feature). Keep an eye on the brakes. If they haven't been renewed yet they soon will be. Enjoy your ride.
  14. If you frequently go on long travels it is wise to keep a spare thermostat handy (they do not cost much) and make sure you have a jug for water or spare antifreeze. If your temp rises. Pull over, let it cool down, drink your beers and use the empties to fill up the overflow. Every body wins.
  15. The cruise control is trying to keep to the speed that you set it to. To do so the CC does not have the option to brake so it uses engine compression to slow it and this requires a downshift sometimes.

    Damaged Floor Bin

I do not know if the bucket comes out, likely not. Can it be punched back close to its original shape?, at least enough to allow the plastic bin to fir in. If so that may be your best option and then just coat the outside with undercoating and reseal the metal inside.
  17. I am told that these trannys (TCM) will 'remember' your driving habits and adjust the shift rpm accordingly. Perhaps the previous owner drove differently that you do and the tranny is just getting use to you.
  18. Lucky you, glad to hear only damage is to Journey. Looks like an animal strike.
  19. Heh, I am in Nova Scotia. I got my Journey in the Fall of 2008. The wiring harness I got was for a seven pin and had a bag full of stuff. It is run along the frame in the channel next to all the other lines and direct to the PCM where I had it soldered into the approriate connections. The harness I have with the adapter (separate) allows me to hook up 7 pin and 4 pin trailers.

  20. Yes welcome. So which one is the keeper? I figure both are eh?
  21. OK you got me. I know what Softball is...but pickelball? Please explain.
  22. Welcome pito1cayey. I take it the SE was a loaner or demo prior to your purchase to have that kind of mileage on it. Enjoy the Journey and the forum.
  23. I modified my hitch harness today. No pics but I will describe. It is a factory issue harness and quite elaborate as previously described elsewhere on this forum. The issue was that I did not have enough harness from the jack well to the connector to allow a mount on the hitch bar with the mounting bracket I got from UHaul. So i mounted it directly to the bumper frame and cut out the plastic bumper cover to expose it. It is just left of the draw bar in the center of the lower fascia portion of the bumper stopping at the crease. The hole was cut easily with a Dremel tool and cut off disc. The edges of the cutout are trimmed with door edge trim to finish it. Looks like it belongs there now. The outlet has 7 pin and a 4 pin connections side by each.
  24. Seems weather across the America's will co-operate for the weekend. In Canada it has been quite nice on the east coast, central and the plains (except for heavy rains in the Prairies). Holiday on both ends of the weekend for all of us here in NA. From us up North, Happy 4th southern friends. Bugs sorry about the mis-spell in the title
