  1. Welcome burnhard22. It will be your wife's until it needs fuel, service, tire changes and the list goes on. Enjoy it (the Journey) (and the wife too!)
  2. The harness for the tlr prep is the hard wired to PCM model. There is a bag full of wire there. In days gone by one could go to the local hardware store (and you still can) and purchase for a couple of $$ a pigtail that you spliced into the tail light wiring. The power draw for lighting in todays vehicles is strictly controlled by the PCM. If too much draw is detected on a circuit it will shut down to protect others. The wiring harness for the Journey was quite impressive in my opinion. It included a complete harness from the plug to the PCM, with fused links etc prewired. It takes some doing to install but if one is able and has some working knowledge of vehicles it can be done by following the included instructions. It does call for the drilling of one hole in the well above the spare tire so make sure it is placed exactly as described or you may run into resistance. I had the PCM end soldered into the module as described, all wires tied into place to eliminate movement and unnecessary stress. The trailer connection end may require you purchase an adaptor to connect to a four wire harness as the original is set up for 7. These are easily found at uHaul and places like it. Make sure you map the wire from the well to the hitch in a fashion that leaves enough remaining to actually reach it to plug in the trailer. It is about 4 inches too short in my opinion, however it does the job fine. I have not had any issues with the harness whatsoever and having a larger unit to tow I am glad I went this route. The harness also powers the battery charger in the trailer as well as the electric brakes along with all required lights.
  3. If the hood releases from the post in the front it is usually one of two things. 1. Post is not collecting the hood latch and locking, or 2. The frame (radiator mount) around the hood catch is cracked and mobile when the vehicle is moving. Get both checked. This is a dangerous condition you are experiencing.
  4. If you bought the Trailer Tow Prep package, then you should find the harness in a bag in the rear under the floor lid. It is not installed as part of the package for some reason. If it is not found then I suggest returning to the dealer and getting one form them. Make sure you get the harness kit that hard wires into the control module in the engine compartment and not one that splices into the rear lights.
  5. The shift lock is tied to the brake light switch. Perhaps there is an issue there. There is also a manual release. The following is from the manual (pgs 307-308) Brake/Transaxle Interlock System This vehicle is equipped with a Brake Transaxle Shift Interlock System (BTSI) that holds the shift lever in the PARK position when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position. To move the shift lever out of the PARK position, the ignition switch must be turned to the ON position, and the brake pedal must be depressed. BTSI Override There is an override for the BTSI that allows you to move the shift lever out of the PARK position if an electrical system malfunction occurs (i.e., dead battery). To activate the override system, perform the following steps: 1. Firmly apply the parking brake. 2. Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch and rotate it to the ON position. 3. Remove the cubby bin liner located in the center console behind the shift lever4. Insert a screwdriver or similar small tool into the hole at the front of the cubby bin and push the manual override release lever forward. 5. While holding the release lever forward, move the shift lever from PARK to NEUTRAL. 6. Release the manual override.
  6. Welcome Sucosam. If the red light on the dash flashes then you have the alarm. Touching the door handles will not set off the alarm but opening the doors or trying the ignition without the proper key will. Enjoy your R/T From the manual. SECURITY ALARM SYSTEM — IF EQUIPPED The Vehicle Security Alarm (VSA) system monitors the vehicle doors and liftgate for unauthorized entry and the ignition switch for unauthorized operation. If something triggers the alarm, the system will prevent the vehicle from starting, sound the horn intermittently, flash the headlights and taillights, and flash the Vehicle Security Alarm Indicator Light in the instrument cluster.
  7. The OEM Kumhohos are not snow tires. They barely make it a summer tire let alone all season(except winter) Do yourselves a favour and buy four good snow tires and put the kumhohos in the shed. Better still leave them out and maybe someone who does not know about them well will steal them.
  8. I don't have the glove box connector, only USB. REU does not support the glove box setup...you would think it would at $2K for the system.
  9. Welcome.. there are all kinds of topics on this forum to explore with many hints and suggestions regarding mods, maintenance and general use and care. Check them out (may take a few days to go through them all so use the search feature to help. On another topic....my 2 daughters are wandering around on your 'island' somewhere enjoying the sights. They travelled 26 hours to get there. So if you see two great looking Canadian girls drinking all your beer - that would be them.
  10. Anyone try plugging an iPad into the USB on the entertainment system yet. Wondering if there is any support there? ie" charging, audio transfer etc.
  11. Stock Nav and bluetooth is integrated and works well. The only set back is the cost. You can purchase and have installed some very nice after market units that do all that and more for half the price. Mine (stock) has the dash top screen which I love, (but no iPod support available.) It is easy to see without taking eyes off the road, unlike the screen down low on some models. To install the stock Nav unit you will need to place the antennae as well. It fits in the center of the dash, back from the windshield between the cowl and the dash bin (if equipped).
  12. I am surprised your Journey does not have Nitrogen in the tires. You can usually tell...one way ..once installed they normally put a green valve cap on the stem. Two..there may be a sticker (green) on the door glass indicating same. Nitrogen can be had from most reputable tire dealers. Nitrogen is air with the water removed basically. It does not leach through the tires and is not effected by temperature swings. Word of caution. Ensure all earth air is removed and the tires are dry inside before having nitrogen installed. Then if necessary top up with nitrogen only. It may cost $5.00 per tire but worth it. Because the H2O has been removed there is less water and therefore less corrosion on the rims as well. Race cars, airplanes and emergency vehicles have been using it for years.
  13. If you are using earth air in your tires don't forget that tire pressure can increase as the vehicle rolls along on hot pavement. Likewise, in cooler weather it will decrease. The only option to stop this fluctuation is using nitrogen. I believe most Journeys come with Nitro in the tires. Transport Safety recommendations as stated on the sticker in the vehicle that deals with the tire size and pressure is there for a reason.

    Rust Check

Krown is what I prefer. I have seen some studies where it outperformed other name brands quite well. Some city bus's were fitted with steel plates behind the rear wheels and were coated with several products to see which one suited their needs best. I was surprised at how inferior some 'reputable' products performed. Krown performed the best in this case and I have used it for about 10 years now on various vehicles. Always satisfied. Now one must continue the annual maintenance of course (re-application) just like others. New parts, added on accessories etc are touched for free anytime as part of their guarantee. Repairs after damage are done as well as part of the package. I have no other affiliation with this company other than as a customer who is very satisfied with the purchase and the result. The 'rust proofing' applied by the dealers is no better and costs 2-4 times the price. There is no effect on the vehicle warranty by this application. Another thing, get it done in the spring of each year if you can. Before humidity season sets in. Winter ice and salt found in eastern Canada plays havoc with all of these products.
  15. I can't load another picture unless it is 56 kb. Seems the three pics I loaded in the hitch forum ate up my 'quota'. So how do I get more credits?
  16. In North America if you want to find the F E you have to go buy one first and then put it where you can find it later. I take it you are in Europe or elsewhere where these items may be mandatory? Sorry I cannot help you there but perhaps one of the others may know.

    Seat Cover

I have not tried to see if it fits the rear seat armrest yet. Haven't got to the 2nd row yet. In any event, it was in the box with the front row covers so I thought it must be for the front somewhere. I do have the flip up seat and the cover fits perfectly. I guess thanks are in order - so - Thanks
  18. a small piece of painter's masking tape over the indicator works too. Write the mileage on it for the next the oil change and when you get to that reading remove the tape...voila - the indicator says it is time to change the oil. Then repeat.
  19. Don't forget the Nav screen can be dimmed using the multi function selector on the left of the steering column. The same one that dims your dash lights. When the multifunction switch is set to auto (all the way counterclockwise or ahead), the auto dim should activate. It should also dim slightly when the windshield wipers are activated for more than ten seconds. The sensor for the autolight is the one on the dash in the center at the base of the windshield.
  20. I left both phones on with the priority one phone active. I 'asked' uConnect to select phones and switched to my work phone and it worked OK. It temporarily overrides the priority one phone. Still it would be nice to have both active and able to connect but what can you do?
  21. Malnik is correct, it is in the mirror frame bottom facing to the rear. If you tint your rear windows, obstruct the view through the rear window by cargo or it is covered in dirt it will be slow reacting. The sensor for the auto light is on the dash near the base of the windshield. Make sure the green light is on then you know it is activated and ready to respond.
  22. There has been no mention of iPod integration with REU models. Does anyone know if the integration kit will work with those? (REU is 2009 MyGig 20gb, uConnect, nav, rear view camera etc) My only option at this point is the aux input on the front and this is basically useless. Seems that a unit with all of the features this one has a simple iPod connection would have been included.
  23. If the express up and / or down fails to operate at the second indent on the PW switch it can be reset. Hold the switch until the window rolls up and stops and hold the button for 2 more seconds (you may here a click in the door under the switch). Then hold the switch down until the window rolls completely down and continue holding the switch for 2 more seconds. You will hear the click again. TaDah the switch is reset.
  24. Thanks for the info jaycsin... I will give that a go and see what happens.
  25. Bummer.... sounds like your DJ doesn't want to hang out with you. Hopefully it is corrected quickly and permanently. Keep us posted.
