In the salt belt, stuff like wheel bearings can be a bit of a bear. Even a Journey that was rust check sprayed 3-4 times like this one.  If you are changing a loud bearing hub on an awd model. You can leave c/v shaft in place fairly easily if you have access to a sliding hammer. If diff lip seals aren’t leaking it’s easier/faster to not disturb things. Mine were already changed few years ago.

Original bearing had 250k kms  or 155k miles, not bad really for the crappy roads vehicle was driven on.

just looking at these pictures makes me feel good living in Al. since we hardly get any snow or ice, cars last so much longer down here

  2. the one time that I did have a problem with discount tire shipping the tires to my house I received 2 tires bundle together that were  same size that I ordered and then 2 tires bound to gather one the right size and the other one a way bigger tire, what the hell was the  the guy putting the order to gather  was thinking I don't know,, but I called them that day and they apologized a lot and sent me the correct size and also gave me free warranty on all for tires as well and they said just leave the wrong tire outside the garage as well I rec the replacement tire less than   2 days later

  3. well if it works okay with the hood up BUT doesn't when the hood is closed then you have a restriction somewhere,, the journeys use the plastic little lines, mine was cracked on the drivers side at the rear of the hood by the hinge, I replaced most of my squirter lines with new rubber lines and the good thing is the rubber lines fit tight and just slide over the plastic lines so you don't need any clamps when splicing the rubber lines onto the plastic lines

  4. from reading  your post, it  sounds like your at the end of the road with your current mechanics. you probably don't want to hear this BUT sounds like its time to take it your local dodge dealership and show and tell them everything you have done and let them check it out, YES there will be a diagnostic  fee but that does go toward the repair, and the repair WILL be higher than a local mechanic but they have more experience with your engine and vehicle...good luck and take care

  5. Just wondering how has your seats held up? I have the leather /fabric inserts in my 2014 crossroad and my 2011  had the all fabric seat material which still looked great when I traded it in on my 2014 and I remember a lot of post worried about the creases and wrinkles in some of the seats, actually I like the look of the ones in my journey and had noticed real leather looked like that as well.mine has held up real good no rips or real foam breaking down in the seats and since I am close to 250-300 over the years I think has done ,of course I have taken good care with leather/protectant on them over the yrs,   In my opium dodge used a good quality seat material in our seats,,,,my grandson has a 2018 altima and his has the beige vinyl / leather seats and they look terrible and the fabric has broken and ripped on the edges, I was looking for replacements seats at the local scrap/ junkyards and all the beige ones were the same just junk now the same year altima with black seats were in a lot better shape not sure if it was a different material or if it was real leather.......

  6. i use discount tire for yrs ,i just seen where they bought out tire rack or at least that is what they are saying, i use to order on line when they didnt have a store in our state and that way i didnt have to pay sales tax and also you need to wait for a holiday as they always run great sales during the holidays and then id take them to our local Walmart to have them mounted and if you buy their tire warranties they are great to work with and they replace them with no argument, my grandsons is really rough

on his tires with chuck holes and they have replaced 3 different tires ( MICHELIN )for free and all you do is pay for the new tires warranty which is around 20-30 depending on how expensive the tire is

  7. if its the turn signal or backup bulb ...it is real easy to replace it yourself with just a couple of flat screw driver, also some auto part stores might change it out for you when you buy the bulbs from them about a 10-20 minute job..here is a site that shows on how to to do it,,,or check out you tube as well.........https://www.paulstravelpictures.com/Dodge-Journey-Tail-Light-Bulbs-Replacement-Guide/index.html

If it's LED I think the whole unit has to be replaced not really a bulb?

correct if they have led, which I have for the brake bulbs ,,the turn and back up bulbs can be replaced with regular bulbs or replace with led bulbs as I did,,.but mine has a sticker on the unit saying it has to be serviced by a dealership.... that said just remove your unit and see if it has that sticker if so you might want to see how much Thur the parts department it would be or call your local junk yard for a used replacement or check on amazon/rock auto parts

Green with ENVY! may hit low 60's between showers on Mon. and Tues. Got to get the brakes done on the Buick, the Journey's fog lamps will be quick as the splash pan is not there like most DJ's...and I prefer it that way!

I surely wish I had a garage to work inside of at my home☹️

lol.  My wife wanted all that.  Watching cartoons as we drive keeps the kids in check.  I'm thinking I might do screens in the headrests for that.  The radio has outputs to do it.

It really wouldn't be bad if someone had explained how the canbus worked in the settings beforehand and that the CD player part had to be removed to get all the plugs put in.

I could do it in 10 minutes now.  It was really easy.  The hardest part was guessing through the canbus part.  That is why I made the video.

It is pretty much exactly the one in your link I'd guess but I couldn't say for sure.  It has a different canbus box for sure though. There wasn't any splicing or cutting or anything to install.

This is the CD player if anyone comes here and wants that EXACT one.

sounds like you could make some $$ from the manufacturer to use your video and help with their sales...........congrats

This guy works on a lot of journeys there was 4 others parked out front when I went to do the TB relearn and ya woulda been ALLLOOOT. more expensive cause he didn't charge me for the relearn or the further diag. Dealership wanted $200 just to diag prior to even doing a relearn which would have been another 190$ and then they'd wanna keep it to do the PCM which would be 1200$ and instead it's gonna cost me $350

and yet it still isn't fixed another lost day of work and throwing more parts at it,  just saying sometimes the ceap ends up costing more in the long run . not trying to argue hope everything turns out great for you, take care

    UPDATE

I finally found at reasonable cost fog light bulbs for the '14.

Phillips PSX24W/CVPB1 @$16 each thru rockauto. SUPPOSED to be brighter, but with disclaimer of possible shorter lifespan.

I had to order rear rotors and pads for my Buick and the bulbs were at the same location for shipment, so I got them. Parts were from Syracuse,NY and ordered Friday morning and were delivered FEDEX ground this morning. Fastest processing and delivery I've seen yet! Yes the city of origin was only about 3.5 hours away.

Will install on the first warmer DECENT weather day we get here, been raining and cold for 4 days and next week does not look much better! 😞AND the Buick brakes have the priority to get done!

    78 here today in alabamaaaaaaaa

WELL.... Not ready today and says the RF also needs  the ball joint replaced. Cam and rockers done, but have to do the filter unit and install the intakes. Waiting for him to call me back as when I called enquiring, said it'd been a bad day with lots of interruptions.

I will report results when the car is done and back home.

It's great you have a friend that helps you out on the labor cost....

We have replaced the coolant thermostat three times now, and now we are being told thermostat housing melted to block, after repair found cylinder head gasket is excessively blown. Found coolant purges from cooling system while running due to exhaust gasses leaking into cooling system. Would this be caused due the thermostat not doing what it's supposed to be doing in the first place. And now it's going to cause thousands of dollars to fix my car.
