  1. Beautiful! How did you get those large pictures into the post?
  2. This is exactly what I said months ago when I first posted about problems with album art not always showing and artist names sometimes being incorrect. I detailed this a Chrysler rep I was in contact with at that time. DodgeCares, anything you can do to pass this info along to those inside Chrysler? Any chance of an update coming out soon to remedy these issues? This is not a new issue and surely must be known by Chrysler at this point?
  3. One more person to add to my ignore list.
  4. The upgrade here in NA comes on a DVD. I wrote about it a while back in a thread I started about my map being out of date. It seems bizarre to me that the Journey in South Africa would have a totally different way of handling map updates? DodgeCares, any info you can provide here?
  5. The SD card in the Journey has nothing to do with NAV. The NAV Maps are stored on the radio hardware itself. The SD Card is only used for holding music.
  6. Wow, your 2012 is already saying your map is out of date? I didn't get that message until I had my 2011 for almost a year. I did buy the map update from www.garmin.com/chrysler. Not cheap and not something I would do every year. I don't think there are any firmware updates available for the 2012 8.4N. There was a firmware update released for 2011 models that added iPod playlist support but I'm assuming your firmware would already include that update.
  7. You sure you didn't turn down the voice guidance volume by mistake? When the voice is speaking, you can try turning the volume knob up. I believe this volume also works when the voice is speaking for items like making phone calls. You could try adjusting the volume of the voice when it is asking for confirmation of dialing a particular number, for example.
  8. I'd be really surprised if that is causing the issue. I leave mine on auto all the time. I've never taken it off auto in the 13+ months that I've had my 2011 Crew. My gas mileage is routinely in the 12-13 L range in mostly city driving. In fact, it is supposed to be better for the A/C components to keep them being used year round, from what I've read.
  9. Welcome! FYI, Canada Value Package is the name for the lowest trim level on the Journey. Unless you have the word Crew on the lower right side of the rear hatch, it's not a Crew model.
  10. We've had this discussion before. The 2nd dimmer switch absolutely does dim the door map pocket lights on my 2011. Maybe they changed it for 2012 so that it no longer serves that purpose, since it is completely useless on 2011 models because those tiny lights are already very dim at max brightness?
  11. The correct size for the Journey is 225/65 R17. I don't think you could use 245/70 but don't know for sure?
  12. I would assume the 2013 Journey won't start being built until July or so. I don't think any info has been published yet about what is changing for the 2013 model year Journey.
  13. Yes, it was possible to have NAV without Bluetooth. Had something to do with Chrysler having changed the way dealers ordered Bluetooth for the 2011 model. It became a separate option that many dealers were not aware of at first, so you had many 2011's with no bluetooth but it was definitely possible to have NAV and no Bluetooth as well. I saw many like this on dealer lots in early 2011.
  14. Yeah the highway mileage of the Pentastar is fantastic. My best was 7.8L/100 kms driving at a steady 110 kph (a little over 900 kms on one tank!)
  15. I've never heard of a Journey with a 3.7L V6. Where do you live? Are you sure it's not the 3.5L?
  16. Yup, I've started one or two threads on this topic! We 2011 owners really got the shaft as far as voice commands are concerned, especially when compared to the 2012 model. No voice NAV commands at all (except for "Repeat Guidance" WTF!!). Voice commands for music playback do not work at all, despite what the manual says. Voice commands for phone work very well. I am also able to use voice commands to change FM or Sirius channels, or to change inputs (i.e. from FM to Sirius or ipod). That is it, no other voice commands work for us 2011 SOBs. My understanding is that all voice commands work for music playback and NAV on 2012 models. Best of all, it appears that Chrysler doesn't give a shit and isn't going to do anythiing about it.
  17. I have the same issue with my 8.4N. In fact, it also shows some of my Van Halen as Hale! Must be an issue with the Gracenotes database? I know for sure my music is all tagged correctly but I think it uses the Gracenotes database exclusively when Music Cleanup is turned on.
  18. My guess, you have the instrument panel dimmer switch on the first detent, which is max brightness of the display all the time, even with the lights on. If you move off the first detent, to where you can adjust the brightness manually and just leave it at the top, right before you click into the first detent, that might be your issue?
  19. I for one, am very happy with my Journey and also liked my 97 Cirrus and my 07 Caliber. No major problems with any of them. I will stick with Chrysler, thanks.
  20. Just because you have had bad luck with a vehicle, doesn't mean the entire company is shit. I have had Chrysler vehicles for the past 12 years and haven't had any major problems with any of my vehicles. I will continue to buy Chrysler vehicles for the forseeable future. I am really happy with my 2011 Crew.
  21. God damn, that is crazy. Just out of curiosity, is there any way can you ask one of the dealers to quote on the larger piece that goes over to the passenger side vent? I'm really curious about this. It makes no sense!

    Different fog lights.
  23. Something has to be wrong with that price. I replaced the much larger trim piece to the right of the radio controls - the one that goes all the way to the passenger side vent and it cost me just over $100 CDN for the part. No way that small piece to the left of the radio controls should be more than $20 or so. Are you sure they didn't give you the price for the larger piece?
  24. If you are using the bar graph at the bottom of the display as an indicator of your gas mileage, that would explain your numbers. That graph only shows instantatneous fuel economy and cannot be relied on in any way, shape or form as a true indicator of the mileage you will get over a full tank of gas. If you are using the mpg inidcator on that same screen, I have discovered (as Windancer has too) that the average mpg it displays is usually not accurate. It is much less accurate in stop and go, typical city driving. I have found it to be reasonably accurate if most of your driving on a tank is highway. The only true way to get an accurate mpg rating is to fill up your tank at the same gas station and pump for two tankfuls and calculate the mpg based on miles driven and gallons used.
