  1. Success! Thanks, it was fairly painless. Though I was overly cautious not wanting to completely destroy anything with my lack of experience.
  2. Thanks. I've used that process once or twice [many] years ago. Not real happy with it's location and position, but when are we . Hoping it's not tight
  3. 2013 Journey with a snapped antenna. The stud is flush inside the base, so I can't just remove the broken part and install a new one. I haven't messed wit it really. I've found the replacement base, have no idea how involved it is to change, and maintain a weather tight seal. I'd consider an extraction. It looks like maybe brass or soft metal? It's not really in an "work friendly" location or position. Since it's on the roof, secured to/through the roof I don't want to get carried away. In it's current condition, it still looks reasonable. Anyone with any experience or knowledge how to proceed? If I get a new base, I don't want to strip the headliner, never goes back the same. Suggestions for removing the broken stud?
  4. And, you may find a slot for an SD card just at the base under all the controls. Doesn't use up an USB port which you could use for changing and/or bump into a "stick" while digging around the bin. Works the same, format fat32, load with mp3 and have weeks of music ready to play. Just another option. As for the phone, I believe it bluetooh connection is, form the phone's view, an external speaker with controls. So you don't get to see playlist for most models. I understand some of the newer systems with different phones may have enhanced features.
  5. I understand there are many quirks and issues we all run into. Many have new batteries. Test fine when shut down, the next day... then eventually has lost it's voltage. After a couple days not driving, it would start. Let it sit another, hesitant, but might start. By the third or fourth day it might turn over once. It just slowly lost power over a period of days - it was charged when shut down. I'm not discounting your grounding deal. I don't doubt it's a problem for more people who never realize it... someday I may have to look into it.
  6. I had a similar problem... let it sit for a few days and the battery would die. First got a new battery, under warranty so the just gave me a new one. Next, well sometimes the telemeterics (bluetooth and voice response) module sometimes works, sometimes don't... replaces that. Eventually I tell them, showing the past receipts, I really want this fixed - where do I need to go? Ok, enough ranting. Eventually (several weeks) they discovered something wrong with the radio. $270 fix actually. At one point deal said they talked with (not clear on exact name) technical consultants. The draw/drain was minimal when measured and I guess didn't calculate into a problem initially. I had pointed out, each time I bring in it in, battery disconnected, seems like it resets. When it becomes a problem, it gets progressively worse - takes less time to die. There are other topics here about dead batteries with different endings.
  7. You gotta know it's not for everyone... But I can't deny that it really makes a difference - sweet. Great talent and skill behind all that.
  8. Deleting it... reinstalling it - you're thinking MS Windows I think. If you don't know what the problem is, just making it go away, until it comes back doesn't actually fix anything, does it? I had to have my "hands free" module replaced. It includes the bluetooth function, it is ridiculously expensive. At the time, when I pressed the button to set up phones - nothing would happen, just the beep. So, you may not have the same issue if it's giving you an option.
  9. Seems my "Why does the battery die" issue goes beyond the hands free module. I still had issues! Had the fuse pulled for the module, still the battery dies if I let it sit for a day with out driving it. It's back to the dealer, for a week I checked for an update. Said the took out the battery to make sure it gets a full charge. When I dropped it off, pointed out - seems "something" gets reset when they disconnect the battery, and it'll look ok for another month every time I get it back... but I'm not a technician.
  10. Unless you have the "What drains Dodge Journey's battery when switched off?" If you could easily disconnect the battery, it would be nice to be able to start your vehicle the next day. But, yea, relocated the battery really isn't the answer.
  11. No, I don't see the comparison. Your 10yr onld blower doesn't interact with with a newer ...anything. Although I do understand your frustration. Bluetooth is bluetooth. It's primarily hardware and backwards comparable. The "new" features just, obviously, aren't supported between the old - new, but basic connectivity shouldn't be an issue. But comparing it to a blower motor, just blowing air and an electronic component interacting with newer version, doesn't seem to be right.
  12. I wonder was it turning it's self on, or was something trying to turn it on. The module was defective in that it didn't always work, there was some error code related to it... but was it flubed up it's self, or were/are there "outside forces" causing it to flub up. Thanks for the positive outlook!
  13. It seems to be a "known issue" I have recently (07/2019) got a 2913 Journey. Thought it's great, I do like it. After about 6wks, as others, dead battery if sits more than a day, until overnight kills it. I ask them to find out what's killing my battery. Say it's original 5yr battery and sell me a new one. About 6wks later, I let it set for a weekend and... dead battery. Again, ask to find out what's draining it. Since the battery has a 2yr warranty they'll replace it. For about another 6wks... I ask if they can really, really try to find out what's wrong. After a day they "think" it's the hands free module (voice response crap - it's more than just the bluetooth). Since it is expensive ($600) they want to keep vehicle to make sure. Disconnect module, battery stays up over weekend. Install new module, battery stays up over night. I'm not totally convinced this is the end. I didn't drive it for 2 days, started it in the morning and the lights (interior and headlights) went off with the starter draw. For the most part it's otherwise working. I did wonder if I could just not have a hands free module, would it impact the system. For no reason in particular I do suspect that wonderful touch screen system - way more than a "radio". If anyone hasr definite conclusion what's killing batteries... does pulling the "radio" fuse, and letting it sit for a couple days keep things alive?
  14. THANKS! Just yesterday I purchased a 2013 Journey Crew... without floor mats. I thought I wanted official Journey mats. I stumbled upon this forum and your post was near the top... and hoped you have more than a clue! I'd prefer not the logo either, but for the price difference and it's not like I'm really going to see it much.
