  1. Thanks for the comments. I sprayed some peppermint oil throughout the engine bay and sliced up some Irish Spring bars of soap and put that into both bays of our vehicles. I did the same for the shed. We'll see if they work. If I see a chipmunk in the yard wearing a scally cap, I'll have to come up with a plan B.
  2. The Mrs. tells me the passenger side high beam isn't working. I open the hood and notice the wire behind the bulb is cut/chewed cleanly. I'll have to unwind the bundle of wires that goes across the front of the car to see what it connects to and how long it is to replace it. I could strip and wrap the wire where it's cut or replace the entire wire. Anyone do this?
  3. Hi, Looking to prevent any mice or chipmunks from getting into any part of our Journey. It's used everyday but I've found acorns in the engine compartment before. Is peppermint oil working for anyone? Any other suggestions other than getting a cat? Thanks!
  4. https://tinyurl.com/y3n79k28 looks like a full kit to replace everything, but the reviews aren't kind. Maybe I should just get the nozzles and get the hose locally. Rock Auto has the nozzles https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=10938540&cc=3309784&jsn=415 and the Mopar hose https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=5038845&cc=3309784&jsn=423 for just under $18 plus shipping (minus 5% discount available using any search engine). I've had good luck with Rock Auto over the years. Might as well grab some cab & air filters while I'm at it.
  5. "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." Thanks for the link. I'll bookmark it and search elsewhere for it. Replacing the hose sounds like a good idea, too. Thanks!
  6. The Mrs. told me her Journey was out of washer fluid. The fluid was full but the hose to the nozzle came off. Looking at it I see the plastic tip which goes into the hose looks like it's broke, that is, it's at a 45 degree angle inside the part attached to the hood. Anyone replace one of these? It doesn't look like the nozzle piece is easy to get at. I reattached it, but I think it will come off again. I might have to jury rig something to make it stay on there, i.e. superglue.
  7. I'm wondering if replacing the rear drive assembly fluid and the power transfer unit is worth doing if you're not towing or doing any hard use.
  8. Turns out the wheel bearing that was replaced two months ago failed. It was replaced under the warranty I got when the job was done. That explains the clunk I heard as I didn't think a failed sensor would cause that. I'm glad I didn't replace the sensor thinking that was the cure.
  9. I think it's the wheel sensor and the wheel bearing and new tires this year are unrelated. Thanks for posting.
  10. I also have code C003A, Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor: Signal Compare Failure & Signal Erratic. I had that wheels wheel bearing replaced in July.
  11. '15 Journey AWD 3.6 showing code C1502-96, ABS & Traction Control lights are on. Low tire pressure light isn't and tires are @ 42 & 41 psi. Pulled out of the driveway and there's a clunk when going slow, every 50 ft or so. My scanner shows this code meaning TPS 2 Internal: Component Internal Failure. It says it's a common code and a frequent fix in replacing a tire pressure sensor(s). We had new tires put on 4 months ago, now we're at 71K. Bad sensor? Thanks for any input
  12. I contacted the dealer through their email to book an appointment and asked if it was covered under the 5/100. No response so I called yesterday and will be going in on Monday. The person I spoke with sounded really young so I didn't bother asking. I'm going to call Dodge before my appointment and get an estimate from a local place I trust. A guy I work with buys a new Ram every 5 or so years. He had this issue with a previous truck and it wasn't covered while his powertrain warranty was still valid, although he admitted he didn't ask if it was. Maybe it would have been, but the dealer didn't know or didn't let on. You be the judge.
  13. I found this tonight on what's covered: "power transfer unit and all internal parts; viscous coupler; axle housing and all internal parts; constant velocity joints and boots; driveshaft and axle shaft assemblies; differential carrier assembly and all internal parts; output ball bearing; output flange; end cover; overrunning clutch; vacuum motor; torque tube; pinion spacer and shim, seals and gaskets for listed components only." Output ball bearing? Is this another name for a wheel bearing?
  14. I think I have the same issue with my '15. It started after getting new tires and I thought they were just louder than I expected. Is this covered by the 5/100 powertrain warranty since it's part of the drivetrain or will tell me it's a wear item.
  15. When I had my 05 Cummins Ram, I did an Excel spreadsheet tracking maintenance including mileage, date, what was done and by who if it wasn't me. Prior to selling it, I emailed it to any prospective buyer that asked as I put it in my listing. At some point, most of us will be selling or trading in our Journeys to someone. This simple act will help getting the most $$ you can.
