    Had the 60000-mile service done and the DJ seems to be purring like a kitten!  I just have one regret, I had replaced the cabin and engine air filters a month before the service.  Without reading the fine print, the dealership replaced them for a total cost of $90.00.  I should have had an alignment done vice the filters changed :(

    Hard lesson learned though...know thoroughly what you are being charged for before signing off on the work. We have all done that before somewhere in life.

  2. I appreciate the post as it illustrates a possible explanation to what many Journey owners complain of. It is more a point of curiosity than an actual proven fact.

    I have come to live with the fact, as many Journey owners have, that the gauge will often be just short of full. Rarely, but sometimes, the needle will be solidly beyond full. Air pocket? Maybe and it is my best guess. As for range, my Journey starts absolutely crying for a fill up when it reads empty, yet only takes 16 - 17 gallons to fill. I can drive 100 miles, with the light on, and still not take 17 gallons.

    It is a minor issue outweighed by a great experience otherwise but it will always be a curiosity.

    However, this whole thing does not make sense. All the evidence pointed to the offending fob. For the dealer to tell you they would not cover it under warranty is not acceptable.

     

    Both of my fobs began having issues in the cold weather, at 2 years old. Actually I have 3 and the two original ones, with the remote start, were the problem. I changed both batteries and the problem continued.

     

    I changed both batteries with a quality brand and they have worked flawlessly for a year, regardless of the weather.

     

    For a separate issue, my car battery was also changed due to a bad cell, at only 2 years old. The dealer covered that under warranty.

  4. You can put your VIN # into the Uconnect website to see if you can upgrade the software on your radio. Mine has 2 upgrades available. I did not pursue it and don't know if this makes the radio compatible with Uconnect Access but the upgrade option is still of value to anyone having one of these radios. There was no mention of Uconnect Access in the upgrade titles but, a some point, I will likely update the software anyway while it is available.

  5. I agree. Sounds like it's working fine to me also. Like you say, you do have a very short trip and the engine likely does not warm completely up.

     

    My 3.6L has a very difficult time reaching 195 in the cold of winter. It is functioning normal just tends  to run on the cold side in the deep of winter.

     

    If the problem comes back and you are confident that the engine temperature is correct you may have a bad temperature sensor or lose connection.

     

     

  6. Condensation or a bad solder joint. When a circuit board is cold, it contracts. When it warms up it expands. This creates problems with weak solder joints. Granted, the problem will usually manifest itself in the opposite direction than what you seem to be experiencing.

     

    I won't guess on the component but I also would suspect something electrical. Have you had the battery load checked? It may be weak and only showing in the colder weather. It is a simple item to rule out first and seems to be one of the most common trouble points in the Journey.

  7. Your description is somewhat vague but there are two thoughts that come to mind.

     

    If your heat is working good in general but just not coming out the one side you may have a blend door problem. There is one on each side of the vehicle that moves to open or close controlling the amount of heated air. The door may be bad or, more commonly, the blend door actuator.

     

    Does the recirculation button light up at all? I believe it will only function in certain position settings but I don't ever use it. I know that is how it works on other cars I have driven.

    It is a common problem in the Journey as well as other vehicles. I just did the driver's side on an Impala. The part was inexpensive but it required hours of labor.
