Journeyman425
There are condensation drains built into the mufflers to allow water to drain out. This helps prevent the mufflers from rotting out from the inside. Normal condition. gazjoureny and OhareFred
redtomatoman
There should be a right leak too ; ) If there isn't, you should get underneath your DJ and unclog the drain hole. Peace.
Journeyman425
That is correct, unless it's 2.4 with only one muffler.
jkeaton
Also the rear AC drains there. Mine leaves a puddle of water on the garage floor all the time.
Addicted to Dodge
Completely normal, your engine is achieving complete combustion. I notice it more after short driving distances.
redtomatoman
That is correct, unless it's 2.4 with only one muffler. Right. Didn't think of that. My 3.6L definitely has two puddles on the garage floor each day. Peace.
price9714
I check my drain holes at least once a month, and drilled two extra holes to help make sure all the water is drained out.
jkeaton
I've never had a vehicle that produces water like this one does. Either that or the drains on the DJ are very efficient and not so much on other vehicles I have owned.
gazjoureny
I was just about to ask the same question, thank goodness for this forum. Perhaps though a moderator could fix the spelling of EXUST (Exhaust) in the thread title, that way it would make it easier to find using the search function jkeaton

That's one ability I do have. Lol Edited April 29, 2015 by jkeaton

LVLG
Both mufflers on my 2015 Journey 3.6 drain at least a cup of water a day. I'm in the desert with low humidity and I've never had a vehicle that left a puddle like this before. Thanks for the responses. My Jeep Grand Cherokee parked next to Journey in garage with same engine: zero.

Journeyman425
We see water draining from 3.6 Grand Cherokees at my shop as well, but the exhaust is routed differently and drains elsewhere besides the rear mufflers. Nothing to worry about at all with yours. As long as the engine light is out, then the engine is performing within specs and emissions levels are where they should be. jkeaton
Gemm75
its all normal and even if one muffler drains and the other doesn't it is still okay as one of the two mufflers might have more condensation than the other....
rossco
It's not just condensation. The catalyst/s turn harmful gases into water and other less harmful gases like co2 in the catalysing process. So even in zero humidity you'll get water of some amount. jkeaton

If people would only educate themselves just a little bit on how emission controls function. rossco
