Mind you It was mostly 2 lane highway, passed a lot of slow drivers and my speed was averaging about 120 km. It can probably be lower on a divided highway on cruise control. Last summer I was able to get 7.8 on one tank of all highway driving (911 kms!). That was with only me in my 2011 Crew and with the cruise at 110 the whole time. Start adding people/luggage and higher speed and the mileage obviously suffers but the highway mileage is still great for such a large V6 and vehicle. The best I ever got was 9.3 liters/100 kms in my 2010 R/T AWD on a 500 km. trip from Lethbridge to Regina, I probably could have gotten a weeeeee bit better considering I was going 120 kph all the way and the Highway from Lethbridge to Medicine Hat is single lane and I was fairly aggressive in my passes. devo13 Posted November 29, 2012 Report Share Posted November 29, 2012 Gooday Journeyers.....well I've put 6000 miles (app 10,000 km) on my 2.4 litre, 2012 journey and when I'm over 90% highway, I'm getting 7.6 litres per 100 km and when I'm over 90% city, I'm getting 9.5 litres per 100 km. All above done with an easy foot on the gas pedal and I changed my oil at 2000 km. For my driving habits, the 4 speed auto seems to have its sweet spot at around 105 kph, with it turning at 2200 rpm's (doesn't downshift into 3rd, going up hills) Anyone switched to synthetic oil and noticed a mpg increase..?????? Im on my 80% empty in this third tank and still stuck on 21.8 aveage! Pure city driving.. Hopefully it change soon its my 1100 kms now. From the last two ful tanks i mean. I actually get 12.8 in the city wich is not too bad for a 6 Cyl i guess. One more thing does the speed really affect the fuel consuption on the highway. I mean if you drive 120KM/H and you have 200KM to do you get there in 1h45m taking a little bit more gas. If you drive 100km/h taking little bit lest gas you get there in 2h.So if you drive at 100km/h you be burning gas for 15Min more does that come to the same thing. VincB23 Posted December 12, 2012 Report Share Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) I get that you get more wind drag and on a short distance like if your rushing for the next red light you let more gas by pressing more on teh throttle You just burned more gas for no reason but lets say you drive a 120km/h and do 9.1L per 100km because of the wind drag, You need to do 300KM. it will take 2.5hr to do at 9.1L per hour or 0.1516L per min so it takes 2.5hx60min=150min 150min x 0.1516L= 22.74L to get there now if you drive 100KM/H and do 8.2L per 100 km with 300KM to do it will take 3 hr. gives you 0.1366L per min at 180min gives 0.1366x180min= 24.59L so you end up saving 1.85L and 30 min. If you use 22.74 L/300km your fuel consumption is 7.58 L/100km not 9.1/100. Not sure where 9.1L/hr came from in your calculation. The consumption is actually 10.92 L/hr It is a fact of physics that aerodynamic drag is the reason for increased engine work at higher speed i.e. lower fuel efficiency. Peace. Chris I live just south of you in Regina, I would have a talk with your dealership as your mileage is much to high. Although this time of year and winter on the prairies is not kind to gas mileage. Right now I am only getting 18.5 liters/100 kms. with all the idling and "warming" up I seem to do. Since I bought the car in August 2010, I have used 85 fillups and averaged 15.7 liters/100 kms., this is still somewhat high but shows what the Journey is capable of. If you click the My Fuelly logo below it will show everything. Interestly enough in October using higher octane fuel I drove up to Saskatoon and back and I got 9.3 liters/100 kms. I discussed this issue to my dealer before when i brought in because my airbag was lit. For some ridiculus reason the service man says i have to talk about this to my sales represenative because he knows more about it.. Confusing eh? So i went to him tell my issue and he said "you cant trust the evic what it says because when ur idle it actully 99 or more liters / kms. When he said that i just shut up because thats bullshit. And thats not true! Because it also match my distance to empty. Btw, what do you mean by running too rich? And the choke thing? I dont know about it. Can we control the choke on it. What i just observe is when u use remote start the rpm sits higher than normal when u press the botton start.
