Anyone interested in a class action lawsuit against Dodge?
yyz replied to Uulalaoc's topic in Brake, Chassis & Suspension
Brilliant post to a 10 year old thread, thanks Helen! -
Sorry for the late reply, i cleared the codes with my obd scan tool. Been fine since.

Yes this is my second battery change. This time the battery was around 8V or so. Tried to jump it but no go and then the climate fan wouldn't shut off either. Had to pull the power to stop it so I think things just got a little scrambled from the low voltage.Anyway all good since.

I also have a 2013 that I just replaced the battery about 2 weeks ago. After the battery was changed it started fine but I had codes coming up regarding the accelerator pedal position and 1 other .Car ran but absolutely not much power, running a little rough and couldn't get up a big hill.Took it home put the scanner on and cleared the codes.Problem solved.I think that even just changing the battery put some glitches into the computer and it needed to reset them to run properly again. Do you have any warnings on the dash?

Updates and the infamous 'one click no crank' issue
yyz replied to Tedybear315's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
That's been mentioned before. There is definitely corrosion that gets on those grounds, a removal and cleanup does wonders. -
The one on the right side of the cabin filter is the recirculate actautor. That's the one that causes fogging when it gets stuck in recirculate mode.
-
Did you ever get this done?

Does the Journey have a switch to turn on/off the courtesy lights?

Yep ground connections under the hood a great place to start.
-
Couple of weeks ago we had that, dash lights flicker Journey wouldn't start.Charged the battery fixed it and I tookk all the grounds off the strut tower and cleaned them up.No problems since so yes this is a great suggestion to try.

Again, behind the glovebox remove the cabin filter. That actuator is the one that does the fresh air or recirculate function. The fact that cracking the windows open helps means that it is stuck in recirculate mode. You can remove the power from that actuator and with your hand flip the vent to the fresh air position. That will solve that problem.Reinstall the cabin filter .I never use recirculate anyway but I did replace the actuator.Sometimes that is not even necessary as the old actuators will start to work again.

That post was from 2015 don't expect a reply from them.

Dodge Journey service manual 2009-2011 and 2012-2016

Agree, many thanks for the uploads! -
So what did the dealer say when they did what they said was needed to fix the problem and it didn't?
-
The once and only time my 2013 did this it was a bad alternator.
-
Pretty sure all 3 actuators are the same.

2017 Dodge Journey, voltage regulator??
yyz replied to Mark.M.E60's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
If you read 14.7 v at the battery when the vehicle is at idle , that is charging the battery.Normal. Define what drains battery when not in use.Days? Overnight? -
Not a recall but I did receive a letter from FCA a while back that extended the active head restraint warranty to 10 years and it covers quite a few different vehicles including the 2012-2018 Journey.I will attach the notice later.

That sounds like quite a story the csr person is telling you.I'm sure the same bt modules are used by multiple vehicles.I was amazed when my wife changed from an iphone (not sure which model) to a Samsung budget galaxy phone. The Samsung can actually read text messages through uconnect while the iphone never could.I was very surprised by the less functional iphone integration

Not starting when cold out - Solved
yyz replied to Ray_Richter's topic in Electrical, Battery & Charging
You lost me when you said these battery chargers/ boosters were putting out ac voltage. How is that possible? There must be some rectifiers in them to output dc voltage. And they should be bridge rectifiers. So how are they outputting ac voltage? -
Awesome hope that solves your problems and maybe somebody else!
-
Doesn't the recirculate only work in certain modes? I think I have seen that behaviour before with the button flashing.
-
You can easily disconnect the connector from the recirculate actuator and manually put it in the fresh in position. The fact you crack the windows and let fresh air in is telling you it's the recirculate actuator. You can watch it work if you have the car running and remove the cabin filter and watch to see if the door moves. My guess is it's not.
