While I agree that thoughtful informational posts are easier to understand and hence allow us to better help, folks have to be able to post what they want, when they want, and how they want.  Sadly, many people have poor grammar and writing skills.  Another issue is that English is many peoples' second or even third language.  I think that even when language and grammar are not an issue, many people don't know what is important or just forget to include important information.  I'm not sure how we could control input of info like year and engine size short of making those fields a required part of the post template.  I guess that could be done by the forum moderator.
I think its good that people here want to help others.  Its a good thing that we get a little frustrated when information is omitted and we can't help. . .     Its hard to help one post wonders or complainers.  Those that really want help tend to return and clarify posts or add new info, I think.

This forum has helped me over the years.

My 2011 has been very good as well.  One funny story.  I was traveling to Vegas and I was late for a show.  Of course it was snowing all the way from my home to flagstaff!  After that it cleared up.  I was passed by a federal police officer going almost 100mph.   Desperate times call for desperate measures.   So I got on his rear and we drove about 100mph all the way to Kingman.   Continued to LV from Kingman with cruise control set at 95mph.  Made it to my show on time.  DJ was smooth as butter and didn't skip a beat.  Still got 17mpg while traveling almost 100mph.  Ha!  I never drive that fast, but my DJ sure did save that day!

Never did figure out why the fed was traveling so fast.  He wasn't responding to a call that I could discern.

Travel link is a pay service added to a sirius subscription, btw.  I have sirius travel link and I have found it to be useful at times.  No weather location choices means that there is something not right with your travel link or uconnect.  I have at least 12 cities on my state choices in my 2011 uconnect menus.  Colorado shows at least 12 different choices, including Denver, on my unit.  I keep the weather on my home area as my favorite and it's useful when I am traveling towards home.  I have used the nearest weather station option when traveling other places on a number of occasions.  I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the weather info, but one could say that about any weather source.  I also use the gas station finder when trolling in unfamiliar areas.  Its helpful to locate the next truck stop which is often the cheapest gas.  Works fine.  If your're paying for the service, I'd investigate further with sirius and/or your dodge service center.

I have resisted the urge to get seatcovers due to the side impact airbags.  I think most seatcovers will inhibit these airbags unless they are specifically designed to allow them to inflate.  Honestly, I think most are not designed for side impact airbags.  Correct me if I am wrong.  The active headrests make installation a challenge as well.

    Hello DJ Forum,

Greetings from a fellow DJ owner. Should have joined sooner but better late then never.

My Dodge Journey is a 2010 3.5L AWD SXT in Silver. My faithful Journey has a total currently of 208,000 miles on the odometer and keeps going on the original engine and transmission. I follow all maintenance schedules and everything has stayed in great working order with the exception of a few things. I've had to replace the typical items like tires,2 sets of spark plugs now, 1 pair of outer tie rods, all 4 shocks, brakes - A lot before mechanic noticed the brake hose to both front calipers was being squeezed down by the metal bracket that holds it. Apparently it rusted/swelled up and was restricting back flow keeping the brake pistons pressed down. Dodge replaced a leaking and failing transfer case/PTU under warranty in 2015 when it had 159,000 miles on it. Sentry key sense module went out causing the mysterious no start issue(Often misdiagnosed as starter/battery) randomly around 170,000 Miles $600. Just recently the rear differential/carrier started making noise and clunking at 202,000 miles $600 for a used replacement installed. Heater core clogged up and had to be back-flushed a few times, issue was no heat on passenger side.

I love my DJ and all the space in features. I'm saddened to see some people bashing theirs or having bad experiences with parts that fail prematurely. Mine is a GEM and proof that if you take care of things it will be a investment that will take you on many.....Journey's :D

I don't know the answer to your question.  Why not just check the return policy of the store, keep the receipt, and return/exchange if the 350mm isn't sufficient?  That's what I would do.  Do you have a torque wrench?

Hey now!  I love my voice recognition for phone calls.  Hardly a useless feature.  It's possible to make a phone call without VR, but it's just a lot more dangerous.

@ Bob,  there is a tsb for the VR, although I'm not sure if it applies to your problem.  Try another dealer.

A roof rack may need to be your next purchase.  I love my Yakima cross bars.  There is almost nothing I can't tie on and get home on that thing.   Sorry for your mishap.   Best of luck getting that screen installed.

How did consumer reports recruit so many mopar haters into one place?  While the DJ is not perfect, neither is any other vehicle.  I really like mine.  Still runs like the day it came home from the dealer.   My mileage has been pretty darn good.  In New Mexico, speed limits are 75 mph on the highway, winds are often quite strong, the elevation is nearly 7000 ft, and there are plenty of hills; I still get 23-26 mpg. . .   That's even with roof cargo such as bike.

Consumer reports really is unfair and unknowledgeable.

One other thing.   I assumed that the smell was coming from the interior.  If it's coming through the vents, that's a whole other ballgame.  You may be smelling mold and mildew through your vent and AC system.  Cleaning that can be difficult.  Not impossible, but difficult.  Consult an AC professional.  The dealer may not be your best bet.

The first thing I would do is to be sure there wasn't any spills or other events that you are not being told about.  If that isn't it, then I would purchase some pet odor eliminator and use that everywhere that could possibly be the source of the odor.  If it is urine, that will eliminate it.  It will likely eliminate other odors as well.  Hopefully that will do the trick.
BTW this isn't a known issue or anything.   Something happened in your DJ in the last week to cause this.  I hope the pet odor stuff works, but it would also behoove you to figure out how this occurred.

    Best of luck to you.

Its the opposite.  Running without a thermostat, the cooling system is always open.  The cooling system works by circulating when the thermostat is open.  Circulating fluid takes heat from the engine and it gets cooled in the radiator.  The thermostat is closed when the engine is cold to prohibit circulation and allow the engine to warm up faster.  The thermostat will open at a predetermined temperature, begin circulation, and allow the cooling system to maintain that temperature.  Running without one just inhibits the engine from warming up quickly on initial start.  Keep in mind, a faulty thermostat that does not open will cause overheating because the fluid will never circulate through the engine.

Great review of your experience.   I have been very happy with my DJ too.  I got the unlimited miles warranty as well.  I hope I never need to use it, but I have it.  I have to agree with the transmission complaint.  Like you said, not a problem, but more response and better shift points would be nice.  I mostly hate the acceleration lag in drive.  I go into manual when I know I need power.  Overall great vehicle, IMHO.

I certainly don't have any info, but think about things linked to the accelerator.   Intake certainly.  Also, exhaust and drive train components come to mind.  I think you can rule out brakes and wheel components.  I would doubt engine if the sound clearly seems to be coming from the rear.  Exhaust and drive train is what I would check first.  Good luck.

    Peace.
