  1. someone on here did a 3.6 exhaust mod. Can't remember who.
  2. As jkeaton alluded to, an automatic that allows the car to roll back on an incline will probably last longer than an automatic that holds the car in place.
  3. the spokes kinda look like tuning forks.
  4. 2014R/T I'd like to see your lowered DJ
  5. you can spend a lot of money on upgraded pads and rotors. I just dropped $710 (shipped) on EBC slotted and dimpled rotors with Green Stuff pads for all four axles for my '11 Crew. So far so good, I like the way they look and perform.
  6. I'm with jkeaton, I've had a good experience with the OEM Kumho tire (19" version). I'm on my second set and still a fan. Great in all conditions, and I've driven them in blizzards throughtout New England.
  7. if you can put a 4.6 in a Focus....
  8. ^^agreed, the dimples are probably wiser than full drilling. Lobitz - no I have not noticed any type of smell. Frogbox - yep, as stated, I've done brakes in the past, I'm fully aware of what's involved. I have neither the time nor desire anymore. I agree that that was a large labor charge. I have a few hundred miles on the brakes now... I still like how they feel. Under hard braking I can feel and hear the dimples a little.
  9. ^^try the EBC slotted and dimpled rotors with Green Stuff pads? Pricey, but should stop the shuddering problem.
  10. that's cool Rolly. Here's how I know it's not hype, about Bridgestone's saying that they coast better than other tires: I did not tell my wife that the tire shop said they would do so. I didn't really believe the hype, I just bought them because it seemed like the best choice they offered me for the car, and I didn't think she'd care. Next day wife comes home, and says; "when I let off the gas, the car seems like it wants to keep going". If that doesn't prove it, I don't know what does.
  11. I've never bothered linking my iPhone to my Journey. Am I missing out on any cool features as a result? the only thing I've done is plug it in to charge, and then as a result, listen to the music I have stored on the phone. I'm not much of a techi guy.
  12. nice post, thank you. I'm contemplating one of these for my wife's Forester. how is the image at night?
  13. agreed that labor is a lot of money, but I have not done brake jobs since my 20s and I can't be bothered any more. I'd rather have my mechanic do it. He's forgotten more about cars than I'll ever know. But good on you if you're doing your own. Oil changes and other simple fixes are about the extent of my tinkering these days. anyway, initial impression is very good. They told me to go easy today while they seat. I drove slowly just now when I picked the car up and took it to get a mid-day coffee. They sure do look nice. The rotors have an expensive look to them, because the edges are painted black, and the dimples and slots show up nicely through the big black 19" wheels. The green on the pads looks kind of cool too. They probably won't stay that way for long, but for now they look impressive. I hope this is the end of warping brakes. My mechanic seems to think it will be. So I know a lot of you will spit coffee out your nose at the price of this 4 axle brake job, but it was $710 for the parts, and $350 for labor. Most expensive brake job I've ever paid for. But that shows how much I like this car. Because prior to this Journey, any car I owned that put me in the position of paying over $1,000 for brakes would have been traded in.
  14. I'm having EBC slotted and dimpled rotors, and Green Stuff pads installed at all four corners of my '11 AWD Crew today. I'll report back with results. I will say this for now; they are very expensive. $710 shipped. Don't know what the labor will be.
  15. I am seeing a small improvement in mileage on my wife's Forester since putting Bridgestone Ecopia tires on. She really likes the feeling of how the car keeps coasting longer and faster. It's noticable.
  16. it's been a while since I had it done, but I believe he used 20% on the fronts to match the OEM on the rears. It's a good match to the rears, but honestly, on some dark, and especially rainy nights, it's too much. Like the way it looks, don't really like the way it works. It's my first vehicle with tint.
  17. ^^^ the same wheels in silver: and I run these amazingly similar aftermarket 18s in winter:
  18. put them on tonight. I like it. Wife says "it looks more like a boy truck now".
  19. Put them on this evening. They look good:
