  1. ha! I finally discovered those lame little door pocket lights. I had not noticed them until last night. And ya, the dimmer does control them. It makes them go from useless dim to non-existent dim. thanks to the forum member who posted the picture so I knew where to look. a brighter bulb in there would be cool. Or maybe just hog out the hole a little bigger?
  2. this feature doesn't do anything in my car either. the lighted rings in the cup holders don't change brightness, and I don't even see a lighted area in the door map pocket.

  4. mine was not seeing any MP3 files that began with a number like 01 (song title). I renamed all the files like that and it's fixed. It sees those files now that the number is removed.
  5. Mechanical/Electrical drafter-designer. 47 years old (next month). Bicyclist.
  6. has anyone found a K&N p/n to fit their 2011 3.6 V6? The K&N website doesn't list a p/n, but I am wondering if someone tried an existing p/n and found it to fit right. thanks.
  7. turns out when the girlfriend said "just leave it alone for now"... it was because she was trying to arrange to have the car striped for me as a surprise birthday gift. She realized she couldn't pull that off, so she told me last night to get quotes on getting the stripe painted and she'll pay for it. what a great gf (for more reasons than just this) wuhoo!
  8. ooo ya, carbon fiber look vinyl would be sweet if it showed up enough. subtle is good.
  9. yup, that would look slick. I will not be striping mine after all.... Girlfriend: "I though we agreed to no stickers on this new car?" Me: "ya but it's paint, not a sticker" Girlfriend: "just leave it alone for now" <sigh>
  10. I've had experience applying permanent vinyl in a variety of situations; signs, cars. shop windows, but nothing quite that long and needing to be that straight, so I'll def go with paint. I don't mind paying a few bucks for a good auto body shop spray job. I had the hood of my Focus striped when it was brand new and the shop did a sweet job for a reasonable price. Yup, the tint has a slight difference both while looking at it from the outside, and when looking from the inside. It's negligible and quite easy to live with. I just recently did my gf's Subaru Forester the same way, so I knew what it was going to look like. keep this post in mind if you do your stripes. I'll be interested to see them. here's your idea with the stripe on the front and rear fenders. looks good:
  11. You might be right, continuing the stripe on the front and rear fender might be the ticket. I'll mock it up and see if I like that. I'm thinking of having it painted. I would mess up the vinyl probably. you going to go gloss black or matte? and yes, I believe that's 20%
  12. I'm thinking of adding a subtle lower door stripe to my Journey to take away a little of that minivan look. what do you think? bad paint mock up: since I took that picture I had the fronts tinted to match. much better:
  13. I did the same thing and nothing. Typed winter wheels, tires, Journey winter wheels, etc. Only one time did I get a hit, and it was my thread. thanks.
  14. 5 searches and nothing. do you have a link to the thread please?
  15. hey all... I know, I know.... it's summer. But I'm looking ahead, and thinking about what I'll get for a winter wheel tire package. I just looked on Tire Rack website and there's very few options for aftermarket wheels. They only offer 20" wheels in the $320 per wheel price range. I wonder why they don't offer 19" wheels? I don't want to use plain steel wheels. I like to buy mag style wheels for my winter tires. any suggestions?
  16. I totally feel for that guy that bailed on his '09 Journey. I had the same experience with my '07 Mazda 5 that I traded in for my 2011 Journey, and I'm hoping (please God) that my experience with my Journey is a good one. After 4 years with that crap Mazda, I need a good reliable car. It's a bummer when a car gives you that many problems. I hope he likes his Edge more. I think he will. My boss has one, and it's been a really good car for him.
  17. cool, congrats. White was my second choice because I traded in a white Mazda. So like you, I wanted a change.
  18. thanks Armen... so far so good. Impressive vehicle. All the electronic doo-dads are a little overwhelming, but I'm hoping to master them (or ignore them) in time.
  19. I think I'm noticing weird stuff with my brand new 2011 Crew. Sometimes the radio recognizes the SD card in the slot, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes as I'm approaching the car, the doors unlock, sometimes I have to press the button on the handle to unlock them. Sometimes I try locking the doors with the button on the handle and it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes if I just keep the button pressed in for about 5 seconds it works. Also, sometimes the search option on the radio works, and sometimes it doesn't. Weird. I'm not sure yet if it's something I'm doing wrong, or if its strange behavior on the car's part.
  20. this is great. I will probably get one. My girlfriend tried plugging in an address the other day while I was driving an couldn't. That is annoying.
  21. 46 year old draftsman/designer in central CT. girlfriend and no kids. '11 Journey Crew replaced my '07 Mazda 5.
  22. Connecticut in the house.
  23. Picked it up last night. It's a beauty. A silver Crew model with three row seating, nav, sat, 19" wheels, back up camera, Alpine, heated seats and mirrors, dual climate and rear climate, remote start, sunroof etc... Nicest car I've ever had. Like ta2200 said, it was the interior and ride quality that sold me.
