  1. Great news, just had my journey in for valve cover gasket leaks at the dealership covered under my lifetime warranty of course minus 100 ded..LOL now the passenger side blend door is staying hot all the time even with the ac on,has been sticking here lately so I'll wait a bit and if it doesn't fix itself I'll take it into the dealership again and let them replace the actuator which is in the hardest place to get to for an old fat guy and I'll have them take a look at the CV intermediate shaft to see if that is my problem or see what they come up with,,, mine has been doing this from mostly when new and I have just got used to it I guess,,I kind of think my CV axle seal going into the trans might be leaking as well so get it all done under one ded ..... 178 k on mine that actuator looks like it list for $138 at the dealership.......BUT great news you found your problem
  2. nope everything working perfect since wiping down the strap
  3. as the title says, my drivers seat belt retractor was getting very slow to retract or even had to help push it back in and sometimes getting caught in my door when being shut if I was in a hurry, I got on youtube and seen how to tighten the spring but it was kind of involved and then seen some on just cleaning the belt with silicone cleaning spray which I didn't want to use BUT I just used some Windex on a Microfiber rag and the belt didn't look dirty but I could feel the drag on the belt as I pulled it Thur the Microfiber rag and 100% improvement in the retractor speed ,,,just thought I'd mention this as I keep my journey in top clean condition but never thought about wiping the seat belt down.....

  5. you should have a transmission dip stick on the 4 cyl , I have the 3.6 and it has the dip stick tube but it has a cap on it,maybe someone will chime in soon that has a 2.4 eng
  6. I had 2 replace a couple of CV axles on my daughter's mail caravan ( when she had to use her own veh ,,,,thank god her office went to supplying them for them now) this really help and also a dab of thick or sticky grease on the clip to help keep it centered when reinstalling the shaft...good luck and thanks for replying for others to learn what might be their problem as well.............
  7. I just watched some videos on your repair I assume in your vid you had the front end lifted and the passenger side wheel off by was the drivers side lifted off the ground as well ? or just the passenger side ? I was wanting to check mine to see if I have the same problem.. thanks for the info of course my noise has been there from almost the whole life of the journey...
  8. was that the CV shaft you were shaking,so its on the passenger side?
  9. when did your journey start making the sound mine has mostly been after it was a couple yrs old I have a 2014 and it makes a clunk when going over a speed bump or mild bump in the parking lot I don't notice it driving down the road,I have sprayed the bushings down with silicone spray and that seems to help for... I cant find no you tube videos on a dodge journey mostly nissans a while but then it comes back... any more info you can supply would be a big help for other owners...thanks like did you do the repair, how hard ,cost of the bushings and any other info on if you can tell the bushings are bad before tearing into it...like my journey I live in Al and no salt the under side looks great no rust but have 178k on it but it almost always been making the clunk but was told it was the strut upper bearing but dealership no help to say that is what it is
  10. was born and raised up in Michigan till I moved at 24 to alabama, I only remember the good things of fresh snow after the storms and snow skiing and skating on the lakes with 2 poles and a bed sheet made into a sail of course the bad part was you couldn't see where you were going....LOL most of all the crystal clear water to swim in excerpt both of the lakes we lived on were spring fed so they were always freezing cold , unlike here in Al most of the lakes here are reddish color except for a coupe of them that I can drive to that actually aren't that bad but nothing like Mich. lakes... and I sure don't miss the property tax difference between Michigan $4-7 k and Al $0 what I pay and if I was still working it would be around $700
  11. well I am using a dodge dealership so everything is high,,,,and ya I am having the plugs changed out as well but they sure aren't giving me a cheap rate this dealership just changed hands about 4 months ago so I had always trusted them to do good quality work ,,,HOPE that holds true for the new owners that are running it now,,,,No snow here but dang it sure is getting cold had to put on my long pants today it got down to 30 degrees, I do miss the fresh fallen snow for the first few days but then it starts to melt and that isn't very pretty...take care
  12. this is a highly talked about on this forum if you want to use the section for it so many different causes for this but the main fault tends to be the top strut bearings are the main cause of the noise nothing short of replacing both of them which is a lot of trouble and expense as well....sad to say both my 2011 and then its replacement my 2014 both suffer from this as well sometimes I notice it more than other I believe they had a bulletin put out on it but no recall as far as I know of..that said yours might be from that shaft,,,
  13. well I had noticed oil covered grime under the passenger side crankcase area and CV axle area as well, I cleaned it off real good about 3 weeks ago but noticed it was coming back again so I dropped it off to the dealership that I use, they reported back that the front and back valve covers was the culprit on the leak I had thought it was the crankcase seal leaking again as they had replaced that 2 yrs ago,,,,, so this covered under the Mopar warranty that I have of course with a 100 ded, I am going to have them replace the spark plugs as well as the journey has 178 k on it and I had them replaced at 100k thought they would cut me a break on $$ since they already had it apart for the valve covers seal, but NOT sure they are doing that for me LOL they said well our labor rate is 230 hr so only 200 and my Chrysler discount on the plugs 25 percent off so the plugs around 32 each drops down to around 22 about 358 for 6 plugs and labor,,,plus my 100 ded on the covered valve covers........... ouch so much for cutting me a break for doing the plugs now vs later, oh well the economy has to keep on going....HOPE everyone has a safe NEW YEAR experience,,,, Stay warm and Happy
  14. LOL.... clutch pedal....WTF. your volt meter was that the kind that plugs into the power outlet?
  15. yes the blend doors will make that noise during operation of the unit and after you shut the car off for a minute or two while it goes into resting position,,,but it shouldn't do it at random times while it drains your battery, sounds like you also have an other problem that is causing it to activate or short out,,as far as the rear ac being disabled have no idea on that problem
  16. I just seen where he has a 2009 and NOT a 2014 journey as he has it listed, my mistake on telling him it had 2 thermostats....LOL
  17. easy to see just operate the blend door switches while you are watching them move under the glove box. 2 on the passenger side and 1 on the drivers side as well....you tube has a lot of videos or on the journeys blend doors......... as for the heater core dodge used a 2 zone heater core one for the drivers side and one for the passenger door side ,so it can get heat for just one side while the other side is plugged up....P.S. if its a blend door motor only use OEM as it has been reported the aftermarket ones don't last very long
  18. this video just came up on my computer about a new all metal updated thermostat for the 2.4 engine.............
  19. just one of many videos he seem to removing the air box and might not have to but seemed to the best one I quickly watched replace both thermostats and remember everything is plastic so don't over tighten the bolts and break the unit...and also make sure you bleed all the air bubbles out of the system as well
  20. youtube will be your best bet to research on what to do... I would advise you to watch as many as you can, as most only show what they think is important,,, basic tools and quality parts from your local part stores in case their is a problem with them,, make sure you use the correct antifreeze, MOPAR is best but cost a lot of bought locally, amazon has good prices on it... 2.4 is a lot more trouble than the 3.6 which I have but it shouldn't be to hard, local mechanic garage might be your best bet since you seem to be unsure of what you need or to do...good luck
  21. just did a flush of power steering a few months ago ran 2 quarts Thur the system used Mopar atf-4 as well,,also flushed the brake lines as well all caught up on the maintenance system that most folks never do.... I didn't use the brake cleaner tho,,,just wanted to do everything since I have the Mopar lift time warranty..thanks
  22. LOL my 2014 3.6 power steering either chirps real loud or screams a bit when first started in winter time here in Al. right now its getting down to 30 degrees at night,,the pump is also noisey as well for the first 2-3 minutes till it warms up
