Armando G reacted to jkeaton in blacktop rim scuff :(
You can chose the repair method of your choice....love these "anyone else had this happen?" posts....the answer is: probably. Just depends on how anal you are about the finish on your wheels as to how you feel about it, how you want to repair and how much money you are willing to spend.
LOL....Funny story (not for me really), my son purchased a 2016 Challenger R/T with the blacktop package. Beautiful black polished wheels....I decided to detail it for him one day, used a brush to clean the wheels, unbeknownst to me, it had a piece of metal stuck in it and scratched the hell out of his brand new wheels. To make a long story short, it cost me over $500 to have ALL the wheels sanded down and powder coated again since my son is super anal about things like this.
So, the choice is yours. No one can tell you how to spend your money....except maybe your wife.

Armando G got a reaction from jkeaton in Brake code
If you are talking about the part#, it depends on which brake setup you have on your DJ. You will either have the smaller ones or the bigger ones. If you are looking to buy the parts, you can take them off and take them with you to the store. Otherwise, what code are you talking about?

Armando G got a reaction from jkeaton in Journey Tip N' Slide Seats
There is a cable that releases the hook to the two seat parts. After time the ends that connect to the hooks loosen and do not effectively unhook the seat part. On my last truck I had to almost completely take the seat apart to adjust the ends, but it did the trick. Have not done it on a DJ but I am guessing it is pretty much the same.

Armando G got a reaction from jkeaton in post info
Let's be honest...no forum is ever going to be perfect. I've used this site for more than enough things that I've wanted help others in return. If the post makes no sense, or doesn't have enough information, well I have the option to just move on. I don't get upset or frustrated, or complain on top of it, I just move on. This is a very good site, with plenty of folks with great information.

Armando G got a reaction from jkeaton in 2014 Journey SXT Transmission stutter
Do the software upgrade they are offering. It helped mine (did not stop it completely), but did make a noticeable difference. I am curious why they are saying a few days, mine was only in for a full day.

Holy run on rant. I can't even begin to understand what you wrote. A little punctuation goes a long way when it comes to getting help.

@Armando G Just over $2000. I caught a deal on the wheels at $1688. I think the tires were $420.

Armando G got a reaction from jkeaton in Overheating
First inclination is a failing thermostat not allowing the coolant to flow properly. Next thing to check, see if your passenger side floor mats are wet (or that area). You may have a leak in your heating system. Finally, check your water pump for leaks. They are sometimes a slow drip that get bigger when you are driving and when you stop the heat of the engine burns the leak before it even hits the ground. You will need to visually inspect it while someone else revs the car up when it is warm. As far as your engine light, most auto parts stores will check it for free. It may lead to something completely different.
Good Luck...

That look very nice. If you don't mind, what was the total cost for rims and tires? My tires are due for a change and I am really thinking of upgrading my 17's.

Armando G got a reaction from PitCarver in Switching 4.3 to 4.3s would like some clarifacation
If you are spending the money to upgrade, I would go to the 8.4 myself. I personally have the Sirius option, but am too cheap to pay to listen to the radio. I connect my phone if I really need satellite type radio.

Yes. No more loud banging noise when I drive over potholes and the ball joint was very worn out so it was it's time to go.

Armando G got a reaction from OhareFred in HARD-WATER on my new car!
Two ways...Water and White Vinegar mix (2/3 water), or hard water spot remover from auto parts store (most do work as long as the spots haven't been there for days). In either case, make sure the car is cool to the touch before doing.

Thanks for taking the time to write positive reviews of your DJ's. It really makes me feel good about my investment and choice to go with the Journey. I still feel that for the price, you are getting a great car that is comparable to other similar models selling for 2 to 3 times the price.

It explains it in your owners manual how the mileage is determined.

Armando G got a reaction from 2late4u in 2016 RT AWD brake thickness
My own personal feeling, considering you drive that much per week, is to get the rotors turned or replaced. With past experience, once they start vibrating, it can (and will) just get worse. Scary thing coming down a hill with vibrating brakes that don't slow you down. For the sake of your own safety, get them done.

Armando G got a reaction from jkeaton in How to Fold Front Passenger Seat Down Flat
The passenger options you are talking about are pretty obvious to recognize...if you have it. When I was looking for my DJ, one of the ones I was considering did not have that option, but had almost everything else. It was a used model so God knows why the original purchaser didn't add it. The one I did buy does have it, and yes it is a nice feature. On the flip side, in my excitement I forgot to make sure I had the hands free option :-(
