    Maybe others have heard of this before, but I hadn't. . .  I followed the procedure shown in this video.  So far my windshield has been great in our monsoon rain and the bugs hardly stick.  Cool easy trick to improve vision through the windshield.

    Does anyone have gear shifting and surging issues with Dodge Journey R/T 2013?
    Specially in low gear or slow speed?
    The authorised Dodge dealership (In Australia Victoria- Caroline Springs) told me its a bush problem and will occur again after 6 to 8 months and its normal with dodge journey........
    I am sure its not a bush problem.. its related with gear shifting.
    Please advice me what to do??

    daddyRT reacted to dhh3 in Camshaft Phasers
    The cam phasers advance and retard the duration of the valves being opened, for fuel economy and power. All sorts of inputs determine how long the valves should stay open. They rotate the camshafts back and forth to do this, and I believe that they use oil pressure to rotate them back and forth. If the exhaust valves were "stuck" in the wrong position, this could be the outcome that you are describing. If the position the valves are stuck in is for power, then they would be open too long for lower RPMs. Each camshaft (4) has its own phaser.

    I need help on connecting the 3.6 Crankshaft position sensor 05149167AE. I took out the engine to replace the exhaust and some geniuses torn a sensor 05149167AE socket so I have a sensor and three loose wires from engine cable. I attach the picture. I do not know how these wires should be connected to the sensor. Would you be able to help me on that?

    They do not offer one for the Dodge Journey. The 3.6 yes. But only for Charger, Challenger, Durango, Ram, 300 and Jeeps. Not the Journey.http://www.rippmods.com/products/

    daddyRT reacted to B4ZINGA in Awd
    Downshifting while coasting downhill is normal when it detects the vehicle is gaining speed without driver input via the accelerator pedal.
    AWD is normally off, and kicks on only when the traction control system detects wheel slip at the front wheels. Switching off the traction control (or as much of it as the TCS button permits), turns on the AWD all the time (until TCS is turned on again). During the winter months, when the snow is fresh, I'll locate a large empty parking lot and have some fun with my AWD R/T's TCS dialed down. Yes, you can kick out the rear end of a Journey, and do donuts. When it's snowy, anyway.

    daddyRT reacted to Kbaker in Galaxy Tab 3 Tablet Install (Massive pic)
    I don't use the sunglasses holder, so I tore it apart and installed a Galaxy Tab 3 in it.

    Sorry for the massive pic.
    It is mounted with heavy duty velcro. I need to straighten it a bit, it looks a bit cock-eyed in the pic. Power is tapped into from the rear view mirror. Audio is run along the liner, down the pillar, behind the glove box behind the radio trim and comes out right into the front AUX port of the Mygig. The only visible wiring is a very small amount at where the aux in is located.
    It is automated so when I turn the key on it will;
    change the back ground image to the one shown
    turn off Airplane mode
    turn on wifi (for hotspot)
    and change the screen time out to 3 hours
    When I turn the key off it;
    Kills all open apps
    Turns off wifi
    Turns on Airplane
    Changes the screen time out to 7 seconds
    Displays a message on screen saying "Goodbye"
    Changes background image to a picture taken from an airplane
    The message and background change is for visual verification that automation is working.
    The sunglasses panel works like normal so the tablet is completely hidden when not in use.

    Larryl;
    That's an interesting observation;
    In all likelihood the extent of the 'repairs' they do is limited to simply reloading the firmware and maps, which gets the device working again and then they put the unit into replacement inventory, to be used when the next one corrupts it's memory and does the 'can't unlock maps' thing.

    The problem, of course is that whatever it is that made the unit in your vehicle, whether it is a vehicle or options configuration, something about the radio itself or some electrical glitch will likely still be there, so all that's really happening is that the unit they stick into the vehicle is more than likely going to fail again, while those people who do not have problems will continue to experience trouble-free operation.

    Essentially, they are treating the symptoms without dealing with the disease - they probably can't be bothered, for whatever reason to actually fix the underlying problem, assuming that it can be fixed . . . . .

    This, of course doesn't bode well for owners of DJs, 300s, Chargers and Darts who have the RB5 radio and have issues and plan to keep their vehicles past the warranty period UNLESS someone starts a campaign to force FCA to provide a formal perpetual warranty, and possibly financial compensation to people who have this radio in their cars, whether they came from the factory with them or if they were added post-sale, since the company supplied the product in either case and there is nothing specific about vehicles with the factory-installed version as opposed to one which is added after the fact - they all originally came from Chrysler and Chrysler was paid for them.

    Note to Dodgecares.ca:
    You might want to initiate a dialog with the customer relation and warranty groups in order to perhaps get the company to proactively act before someone starts a class action lawsuit noting that there are many jurisdictions around the world and absolutely in Quebec, where the provider of a device is held accountable for their product's reliability and for latent defects.

    It would seem to be pretty clear to observers, and to the industry that there is some inherent design flaw that results in a significant failure rate that limits the standard of usability expected for such items - and given the cost to recover from a failure (I wouldn't call it a repair, since they don't seem to actually repair these things, but simply reset them, which from all indications seems to be only a temporary solution), the company needs to stand up and accept responsibility for the problem before the driving public sues it.

    It will start small - as the 2011s are now off their basic guarantees, someone will take the company to small claims court and they will win - and on the basis of the award, others will do the same, using the jurisprudence of the cases that preceded them and eventually a lawyer who has one of these with problems will push the button and it will start to get a LOT MORE EXPENSIVE for Chrysler.

    Update:
    It finally failed to start while at the dealer. They looked at the system on their laptop and all the diagnostics were ok. Then the tech opened the hood and checked the fuse box. He popped out the starter solenoid and put it back in and the vehicle started. The next day they replaced that solenoid and its been working ok since then. That was about 2 and a half weeks ago, so (fingers crossed) I think they fixed the problem.
    Thank you to all who responded with suggestions for this. I appreciate your help.

    Welcome to the forum.
    3 things are involved in the start process that come to mind immediately
    1.the brake switch mounted on the pedal assy.
    2.the range selector neutral/park start position.
    3.the fob not being recognized properly by computer.
    Have you tried starting it in neutral instead of park when this occurs?

    This happened to my 2014 Journey Limited in April right as the 36k warranty ended. I called Garmin and they told me that there is a known issue with the memory becoming corrupted in the NAV units (On what he said was many many units). Also on a side note Garmin said that they did not make 2014 NAV units for the Journys and that the dealerships were installing that option with 2013 units at the dealership. Garmin had notes that the issue had been escalated to Chrysler engineers and the answer that was given to Garmin was to take it to a dealer. I called the Chrysler warranty to see what they would do and all they said was call them back once it was at the dealer. The dealer tried the update and of course that didn’t work then it turned into the unit would have to be replaced for a total cost of $600.00 for parts and labor since I was out of warrant by 150 miles (Which I thought this was iffy since I priced the units online for $1200 to $1500 come to find out they are using factory referb units as the replacements). anyway I called back the Chrysler warranty department and gave them the info I had learned and suddenly it was getting replaced for $100 bucks.
    Thought you all would want to know what I have learned.
