I have exactly the same problem. Because it is not happening all the time, the dealer don't know what to do! But for some time, it seems to be less worse...

Not mine, it continues to be the same. I read alot on this site last night and will be making an appointment today. I have decided to start the fight, jus wish I had found this site earlier because I have 11,000 miles now. UGHHHHH!! :banghead:

Same here.... I have all kinds of transmission imperfections that cause rough driving and clunking. BUT because there is no error code being posted the dealership "can't feel the issue."

I get so tired of fighting to get this issue resolved. I am so glad that I leased it and didn't buy it. I hope the tranny explodes one day so then the dealership "might" have a clue as to what is broken.

For those of us who purchased our Journeys, fortunately we have lifetime warranties on our power trains.

Unfortunately lifetime warranty does nothing about the aggravation & inconvenience caused by vehicle problems. I'd rather a vehicle was built correctly with no warranty offered. Maybe Chryslers ads should say, "thank God we give a lifetime warranty because you're sure going to need it"

I hear ya... on Friday I am driving from Toronto to Erie,PA for a family weekend away.. I actually am not looking forward to 5 hours of driving my Journey.

It really frustrates me....It will be shuttering at highway speeds and shifting like crap when the tranny warms up.

hey all, I think I may have someone on the inside who wants to help us with our journey issues. If he turns out to be the real deal then I will ask him to help us all. He seems like the real deal...

My clunking is getting worse. I feel it on up shifts. I feel it on down shifts.. When trying to stay at 60 Kph it jiggles like it can't decide what gear to use.

The other day I was pulling out into traffic and gave it some gas to get up to speed and it jumped around like a jack rabbit until i let off and then back on.

I am sick of this vehicle. It depresses me to think that I have 3.5 years left on my lease. What a mistake.

Hello all, Just wanted to give an update on what is going on with the Journey. The person I met online from Chrysler turned out to be the real deal. He made arrangements with the dealer I bought the car from to have an engineer meet me there to look at my concerned. They also provided me with a loaner car (minus the optional ins.) which turned out to be a Journey.

Anyway, we went of a test ride and as expected the transmission didn't act up. When it did do something it was so minor that the engineer said "thats normal" Here's the funny part. After driving the loaner Journey I find that the quick "rough" shifting in my car is much worse than the loaner. Also, when cruising it does not go into and out of gears. It is so smooth that I again love the Journey. Of course this will end when I get mine back because I am sure that since the engineer said it's "normal" the dealer will run tons of tests on it, but not do to much.

Also, the loaner has not "clunked" when put in reverse or drive like mine does occasionally. It did not do it once the engineer was with me, but it did do it when I left my house. I knew I wasn't crazy because I had my daughter with me and she backed it up.

The other problems like the "thud" when brakes applied was heard. The left turn "grind" will be taken care of as well. Again, I remained VERY concerned with the trans problem, but it's nice to know that I am not hearing/feeling these things. Getting the Journey as a loaner was the luck of God, because again I know mine should not be doing what it is doing.

I will keep everyone posted on this when I know more. I will also speak with this guy so that he can assist everyone to the best of his ability.

Have a great day... :yup:

I am getting the clunking noise when going into reverse and vice-versa. My wife says I am not stepping on the brake peddle hard enough when switching gears. I am going to be watching this problem and if it persists, I will take it to the dealer.

I hate it when they say..."That's Normal" or "Can't feel it" or "Its not posting any codes."

My questions are ...Normal compared to what?? other Journeys, other Dodge vehicles or all your competitors vehicles. Also...How bad does it have to be to post a code?

Hey all,

Further update... I have not heard a word from the dealer! I am still driving the rented Journey and love it. More to come when I know something!

For the vibration, look here if it is the same thing: http://www.dodgejourneyforum.com/index.php?showtopic=376

Ok, here is the final update. I got the car back from the dealer and here is what happened. They claim they fixed the "buzzing" in the cowl. I won't know that until the weather warms up since that is when the plastic is softer which is when in occurs. The rough shifting at highway speeds still exists. The engineer who rode with me at the dealer said "it's normal" I asked how in the hell could something like that be normal? His reply was "fuel economy" (WHAT THE HELL). I could not get the car to clunk into reverse or drive when he was with me so yup you guessed it NOT FIXED! The only thing that was fixed was the "thud" noise when the brakes were applied. An infant could have figured out what it was. So instead of putting a new rotor on they cut it! I still have the flicker in the dash when I shut the car off. They "could not duplicate the problem" LOL .... They did manage to keep the car for 18 days which cost me $180.00 since they talked me into taking the extra insurance. At the time I thought it was a good idea, I mean how long could they possibly keep the car? Well as I said 18 DAYS!! We all know they did not work on the car for that amount of time and that most likely it sat there. They told me that the tech took it for a ride everyday to try and make my concerns occur. My guess is someone had to run for the coffee. Bottom line is that since the rental car (exactly the same as my Journey) did not have any of the issues mine has that Chrysler is avoiding "US" with our concerns. Oh, and the guy that I was talking to from Chrysler who I met on here did attempt to help, however he now has a new job and I have only heard from him once since I got the car back.

Now for anyone who is having the shifting problem on highways here is something to pay attention to. When I had the loaner I noticed that on the highways I accelerated nice and smooth. When I got mine back I paid extreme attention to this and I think I know what is going on. I believe it is NOT the transmission rather it seems like the car is starving for gas which in turn makes me push harder on the gas, but not enough to really notice unless your paying attention to it. Each time this would happen it gave the impression that it was shifting gears. Now the question is what is causing it and what if anything the dealer will do about it.

Looks like we all bought Chrysler's latest LEMONS and they suck so bad I won't even try to make lemonade!! After 20+ years with Chrysler "NO MORE"!!!! :censored:

I feel your pain. I have these issues:

1. Shitty transmission - hard shifts (2nd - 3rd) , cluncks into gear (intermittent) and gear searching at 60 kph.

2. Seat and steering wheel shake like a cold dog at 8 kph -120 kph

I am tired of hearing "That's normal" or "I can replicate the issue."

This is my first and last Dodge. Everyone that asks me how I like it I tell them the truth to spare them the aggravation. I like to do this in the showroom as I wait to have my car looked at.

I am on a 4 yr lease. Anyone know how I can get out?

I'm having the same issue with the clunk into reverse, not everytime but I'd say 90% of the time. I also have a "stick shift" feel between 1st and 2nd, and 2nd and 3rd. I haven't noticed any searching between 5th and 6th at all though. Haven't been to the dealership yet because the one with the good service is over an hour away. So this tranny has been used in other models right, has any other model had issues like these? I sure hope they come up with something soon to remedy this. I feel like I'm damaging the transmission everytime I drive with the hard shifts and clunk into reverse.
