  1. I'm thinking the cost of those items will likely outweigh any return in value that you would see... OEM items are ungodly expensive...
  2. Does the law explicitly state that they must run at partial voltage? I think they just run like that so you aren't blinding people with your brights. Regardless, you wouldn't want the HIDs on at full power aimed up like your brights anyway... so I see your point. With the right array of wiring and relays it COULD be done though.
  3. I saw those on Autoanything.com and was considering buying them. What are your impressions of them? Will the hold up? is the fit good (i.e., there are no gaps around the outside that will let stuff get by)? Maybe some installed pics would be helpful if you don't mind...
  4. Where did you end up buying the headlamp assemblies? Brand? Price? I've been searching and it seems like the best I'm going to do is about $138 for a pair (actually a good price). They aren't oem, but since I'm putting a projector in anyways it doesn't really matter. Curious about the quality of the light you get. Please update us once you receive them and get a chance to open them up.
  5. Flickering during warm up, or once they were already warm?
  6. I agree that HIDs should be done in a proper projector, but they can certainly be used with the DRLs. You will need some additional wiring and it is likely not worth the extra cost and effort unless you use your high beams a lot. Not to mention numerous short cycles will shorten the life of the kit. It looks like the DJ is fairly successful with HIDs (unlike some other Dodges), so I will probably do a projector retrofit on mine when spring finally comes around. There is nothing available now that can match the quality and output of light from a properly installed and tuned HID projector setup. Hands down the best lighting you can get.
  7. Not sure how the 4.3 works, sorry... I'm pretty confident it is in the owners manual though.
  8. Nice subtle touches with the chrome. Good job. Maybe it is just too early in the morning, but I'm missing the dip, where did you dip?
  9. I'm confused... Don't all Chrysler product use AFT+4 for their power steering fluid? I thought it was made from a group III base, meaning it is synthetic... Or, at least semi-synthetic. What "synthetic" fluid is being used as a replacement?
  10. I bought it when I purchased the vehicle new, so it is rolled into the payment. It added about $38 to my monthly payment over 6 years... Any vehicle that was sold when this warranty was an option should be eligible until 4 years/48,000 miles... In fact, my dealer sent me something asking if I wanted to add it to my 2012 Avenger just a couple weeks ago.
  11. Is there a capacitor on your relay harness? You have resistors on both sides I assume?
  12. HIRs are a alternative that are gaining momentum lately... More lumens and a little bit whiter light...
  13. Ahhh... That stupid TIPM that Dodge uses. What a pain (and expensive to fix if it goes out). That's why I bought the unlimited lifetime bumper to bumper warranty...
  14. Yes, they should fit... Only small tweaks for the 2014 model year, no changes to the body.
  15. Still no flickering issues? I have a projector retrofit kit that I bought for my 2012 Avenger. Now that I gave that to the wife and bought this I'm thinking about putting it on the DJ. It's hard to find any consistent information on HID conversion on this site, but historically Dodge's newer vehicles are a pain in the ass to install these on because on the fluctuating voltage sent to the light to run "self check"... Are DJ's using this same "technology"? The kit I have put together has a capacitor on the relay to help regulate voltage and I have resistors I can install... Is this what everyone is using here? I'd like to get working on it soon now that spring is getting closer...
  16. I've always used an LOC. Tap the speaker wires at the speakers. They make LOC's now that don't require a remote turn-on to be run all the way to the front of the car, you can use the signal from the speaker. Have one on my wife's Avenger and it works perfectly... I can try and remember to look up the model number, but it was by far the easiest LOC I've ever used and I will probably get one for the DJ when I get around to adding a sub.

    New from MN

Just bought a 2014 SXT AWD on Friday. Loving it so far. Took it on a road trip a couple hours after purchase for a hockey tournament over the weekend. Much more pleasant of a drive with the extra room.
