Well to be fair it was my first post in a long time so easy to forget about me lol.

I learned a long time ago that if you already have something apartment you might as well replace other things while accessible as preventative maintenance. No point in taking something apart twice if you don't have to. Not to mention with the way things have been lately in the world the odds are a year or 2 from now it would cost you even more.

I laughed a little when you mentioned the RF TPMS going out and how it's a common issue, a couple months ago I had to replace my RF TPMS on my 2013 SXT DJ since it stopped working unexpectedly. Took car in and had them rotate tires and replace it at the same time. Apparently at some point I hit something and bent a wheel a little. Ended up killing 3 birds with that stone lol but the other 3 TPMS are still going fine

I have not had ANY car with mileage that low in DECADES !
But our living out "in the sticks" means lots of driving miles to get anywhere, thankfully very little "crawling" stop and go city driving.

Man... kind of feel like I am neglecting my car by not driving it more. It's a 2013 bought in 2014 and it had about 32,000 miles then. In 9 years no major issues.

About two months ago I hit a quarter of a million miles on my '09 Journey (I have a video of it rolling over but it exceeds the allowable upload limit). I bought it in December 2011 when it had 44,268 miles on it. Two of the years I've owned it I was working overseas so all my mileage was put on in a nine and a half year period (~22,000 miles per year).

My children were still little when I bought it and I would say we have put as many memories on it as we have put miles on it.

"DJ" (my youngest was the one who started calling it DJ and the name has stuck for obvious reasons) has its quirks, but then again, so do I, lol. So I don't think this Journey will come to an end in the foreseeable future.

Seen this post on a random search. I've got a 12 Journey SE that I bought with 86k on the dash. As of right now I'm at 246k on it now. Other thing major I have replaced is an axle and the alternator. I'm looking to push 300-350k out of it

UPDATEW: Had to relocate the '11 journey in the driveway (I rarely drive this car), it shows 213,546 miles on the dash!

New member Maz showed this pic of his speedo last week,  converts to 253k miles. Maybe he will respond with his repair laundry list, might be interesting. Freemont models from Europe etc wouldn’t add much to these annual total I think.

Hello, am new to the forums and require some help.. I have a 2015 Dodge Journey SXT 3.6 engine, my heater only heat while the car is idle but when I’m driving, it blows cold air, any idea what could be causing this to happen?

And sometimes it shows this electric symbol on my dash - see picture below

you will need a magnetic spark plug socket OR use any deep well socket and then a telescopic magnet to lift the plug out of the hole and then use a piece of plastic tuning to attach to the tip of the plug to lower it into the opining, or I did see a video on sticking the plug into the coil and then use that to lower it into the opening or just splurge on buying the proper magnetic socket, easy to do good luck

Somehow I missed seeing your post.
NO I don't want to give up my Buick just yet!
AND I have a status update on the three.

After much normal maint. for the 2011, the car is now titled and plated to our son. This was the car he had been using for the last 4 years and likes it, even though it is lower trim. My auto insurance costs are cut almost in half now....HOORAY!
After the crank sensor replacement, the 2013 rt is doing WONDERFUL, and wife very much likes it!
    NOW the bad news
The 2014 has seemed to come down with a myriad of problems lately
Was wearing the inner tread of rear tires badly. Parts replaced were upper camber links...still the same wear on new tires
tape measure toe check found toe out of 3/4"  . So I replaced the toe links and eccentric bolts and total toe now at 0", but have to get another 2 tires, the fronts have not even worn 1/32"
Worst problem. A while back the torque converter clutch failed. My friend replaced with a new torque converter. BUT 3 months later with easy use driving and all gears engaging perfectly, we have a funky scraping noise coming from the trans bellhousing area. My friend is 99.5% sure it is a defective torque converter. He has the vehicle and is waiting for another converter to arrive to take the trans back out and replace the converter. The real BUMMER is that we had also suspected a cracked FLEX PLATE...and it was so the trans was just out for that but still had the noise. Says he's going to work big time with me on all this transmission related work {$$} and if I spend the $20 will also replace the crank sensor{as a precautionary due to our '13's crank sensor failure}, since the trans will be out and easy to change then.
Last and most minor is still getting intermittent RF tpms drop out and message so much talked about on the forum.
Still like all 3 DJ's, but the '14 is on my "bad list"!

I'll show my age and liken you to a Dick Van Dyke movie character from the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang of inventor Potts , who put that remarkable vehicle together!

Well got a little further. Ran air lines for front through the openings of the side skirt and used the grommet in front of the rear axle for the front bags. And used the grommet that is behind the rear axle for rear bag.

Then mocked up the frame and used some cardboard to make a stencil for a new rear floor board. The upholstery should arrive tomorrow so during the week hope to have board cut and wrapped.

New tank should also arrive tomorrow so can then moc that up so once the cadillac gets home so i can pull the manifold, slap it in the Dodge and then move onto the cadillac. Guy doing the upholstery was hit by a semi and so he is running behind. But again that helps me leaving me room in the garage.

The Caddy is my other toy. I took this picture a couple months ago when I picked it up from paint.

That looks like a nice unit for cost compared to trying to lay hands {and cash} on a stock unit with NAV.. I'm no audiophile and hate running wiring though {but given enough time by the Mrs. could do!

There are plug and play systems that are available online. For the average user the sound quality is fine but if your an audiophile like me then it won't be to your liking.

Here is a example of one I am talking about. At the end of the day you need to decide what it is you really want from your stereo and what your willing to spend.

There are other ones out there, some more and or less expensive. Again all depends what you want and willing to spend.

The Ford Aerostar vans with the V6 engines were another night mare. There was a doghouse cover in the lower dash for accessing some engine components like distributor cap. Three spark plugs on driver side were barely changeable from under hood. Then two more through passenger wheel well with tire off. Last plug had to be changed from underneath the van with several extensions. Very nasty job, for any mechanic. But they at least used platinum plugs which lasted quite well.

Yeah , Journey is far from the worst car to work on for repairs.

For all that I've ben around, I could write a book on the "fails" I've seen over the years. BUT the best. ./worst one was the Pontiac transport/Lumina APV back around 1990. To replace SPARK PLUGS REMOVE Engine/trans/front sub frame as a UNIT.
I left the profession shortly after encountering one of them when I worked for a year at a local GM dealer. Moan as much as you want working on your Journey folks, I've seen and been thru a LOT WORSE.

WELL.... It is what it is for some maint./repairs on our Journeys. You should see some of the numbskull engineering disasters for COMMON items that other makes have given their owners

Still waiting for parts to arrive. I ordered both the high pressure and return hose.  I figure I'll do them both while I'm under there.  If the weather was decent, I was hoping to replace the hoses over the Thanksgiving weekend, but without the parts, that window appears to be closing.

As for the recall, I've only been able to find info that it applies to Canadian vehicles that have a block heater, and possibly only the return lines.  Regardless I did try a couple more lookup sites and did call the Chrysler customer service line, but no luck.  It did not apply to my vehicle.  Hey, it was worth a shot.

I watched those power steering pump replacement videos too.  Agreed, it looks like engineering revenge.  After my lugnut fiasco, I was walking the dogs and came across someone in their driveway wrenching to try and get the 2-piece nuts removed.  We shared a few 4 letter words and best I could offer was good luck and advise to throw them all out.

It will take some trial and error but that is something I knew would happen since I don't know anyone else that has done a journey i can learn from that that alreadyhad to deal with this. I know they are out there but I don't know them lol.
Replacement bag should arrive Friday and then back at it ? ? ?
