Why dont you go ahead and remove it,. drive through a tankful of gas and see if it improves your mileage? I think it has been stated before, if the engineers who designed the car thought it would provide any benefit by not having it there, it would not be there. More air to the engine wont do anything for you without more fuel. The stoichiometric mixture for a gasoline engine is the ideal ratio (15:1) of air to fuel to allow all fuel to be burned with no excess air. The computer maintains the 15:1 ratio all the time regardless of how much or little air enters the intake manifold. That little felt piece does nothing to alter this.

    Update -
We are having an especially wintery winter here in southern Ontario and I have to say that the AWD system on the RT is a real pleasure. The street where we live gets plowed only occasionally and so it is almost always covered in snow underlain with compacted snow / ice. Every now and again just for fun I accelerate hard from a stop (when there are no other cars around) just to see what the Journey will do with the situation. Amazing. Better than our Wrangler in 4WD even (not sure how that is possible). The Journey just digs in and goes. Having that capability automatically available is so nice - eliminates the need for constant decision making on the part of the driver to turn AWD on or off as conditions change, and also eliminates the chance of doing an oopsie and leaving 4WD engaged after you get on the (dry) highway. It's the right kind of AWD system for our needs, whereas the Wrangler is really overkill for us.
I had an engine light come on very briefly leaving the parking lot at the ski hill yesterday. It went out on its own after less than a minute, so according to the owner's manual it seems like this is not something I should worry about. Even so, I will likely have them check the code when I get the first oil change done.

I agree, everyone should own a scanner these days. An inexpensive way to keep mechanics honest and in some cases save money by doing the small things yourself.

Next time this happens you can go to Autozone or Advance Auto where they will pull the code for free or you can invest in a cheap OBDII scanner (from Amazon) as the dealer charges a lot for reading the code. Even if the CEL light turns off it will still be stored in the computer until it is cleared from the system with the scan tool.

Not really, let's call it a lively discussion.

That's better. Lebowski has actually contributed some great how to's for the forum. He's right about not mincing words. I originally found his comments to be irritating but after a while I realized it was because of frustration. Everyone has their own style. You can see he's contributed to this forum for a long time. The one's that i don't care for are the trolls who make outrageous comments one or two times and never come back. Ah, ain't peace wonderful!

After I change my oil and filters, I start the car, let it run for maybe 10-15 seconds, rev it a little, then shut it off. I wait about 30 secs and check the dipstick. Been doing it that way for near 30 years. Never had an issue.

The location of the battery was the reason that I did a "preemptive" replacement on my wife's 2009. Build date was July 2008, so battery age was pushing 6 years. There was no indication of problems with the battery, but I have no intentions of having to change that, in the pouring rain, in a Target parking lot. I'm not sure if I'm "old school", but the "old" part certainly fits.

I'm no expert but given that you also have 800-900 pounds of luggage and towing a vehicle that already exceeds the listed capacity, I would think not.

I do a fair amount of towing... My considered opinion? Don't try it. Despite what a lot of people say/think, the DJ is not a truck, is not even an SUV and it doesn't have the underpinnings or hardware necessary for that type of towing for that long of a distance. While the DJ can be equipped with a "Tow Package" (and I'm guessing yours isn't?), it is still aimed at towing small boats or utility trailers with some mulch or a dirt bike on it, not for long distance towing with a bordline overloaded vehicle and load... There are a couple of folks on this forum that tow pop-up campers, but, those are considerably lighter than your Scion and the DJ's aren't as loaded as what you are describing. I'll put a trailer hitch on my DJ, but, only to hold my bicycle rack. Any other towing is done by my RAM 2500 CTD.

The short answer is a resounding no. Webslave is spot on. I wouldn't even think of towing another car with my Journey - even a SmartCar (my daughter's boyfriend has one - it weighs around 1500 lbs). By the time you factor in the tongue rating, safety margins, etc, you'd be lucky to tow half the weight of the Scion. A Journey is designed to tow light trailers - nothing more.
According to Dodge my '06 Ram 1500 as currently configured has a tow rating of 7,750 lbs - by the time I factor in the tongue weight, safety margin (10-15%) and other other cargo, the max weight I can tow is around 5,000-6,000 lbs.
Best I can suggest is find another driver, ship it, or drive the Journey down, fly back and then drive the Scion.

Just like the Title says. Is it just me or do others feel the same? I love the DJ so far and getting ready to do a full tune up, and install a hitch. But to me I like the battery on top, and the oil filter on the bottom. Anybody else feel the same? But guess it just takes some time to get used to, just like not turning a key to start.

Exactly what I thought. It came that way. Meaning the due diligence that "you" as a buyer should have done before buying it. Instead of spamming the website with bogus youtube videos, maybe you should lay blame on yourself and look at what you did wrong instead of coming to a forum and bashing people who have nothing to do with your problems.

The Pentastar engine is a masterpiece of engineering for the masses. I too love the acceleration - but honestly, it's hard to take advantage of all that power in a FWD platform. That is my only regret about skipping AWD. It's fine when you are rolling and nail it, but from a standing start the torque steer can be significant. My 300M has more evenly sized halfshafts and a taller first gear, so torque steer is hardly felt, even though its only missing 5 lb-ft of torque and 30 hp compared to the 3.6. This engine really shines in a Challenger, which is RWD and in that application it makes 305 HP. Incredible when you think of it. In 1984, the C4 Corvette debuted with the 5.7 V8 and "cross-fire" throttle body fuel injection and it made 205 HP - 100HP less than a 3.6 in a Challenger with 2.1 liters less displacement and two fewer cylinders!

I have to say mine looks nothing like this either. I'm not ripping up carpet or pulling seats out to look for it, but underneath is still clean and shiny. Mr. Sabater, that looks like a flood vehicle. I'm curious how you got the dealer to "replace the car". You just said, "Hey look, it's rusty" and they said "Yep, here's a new car".....

It is also possible that it is the door stop/hold detent and roller assy.
My roller has a flat spot and makes a discernable noise when I
open the door so I lubricate heavily with white lithium grease which
    helps.

Welcome to the forum! I too went from a 2000 300M (also which I still own and cherish) to a 2013 Journey and like you, sat in it in my driveway for days just learning all the new features. My 300M was close to cutting edge when it was new, but the Journey has the tech content in spades over the Chrysler.
