  1. judging by your profile you have a 2013 DJ, just bring it back to the dealership as this would be covered under you factory warentee.... I would say it could be ready for brakes but based on the year that should not be true yet....
  2. Im thinking the newest update describes exactly what you are talking about in regards to the head unit not communicating properly with the sub I wont be looking into this until my next oil change, next month, so I will report back once I talk to them but i can attest to the lack of bass compared to the infinity system of our 2010....
  3. I would recommend looking at going to another dealership and get a second opinion...
  4. That is total weight between the car and trailer together (GVWR)... the stock GVWR of the 2013 dodge journey with the 3.6 is 5,600LBS. That is total capacity that the car can weight fully loaded with passengers and luggage. now add the tow prep package the max trailer you can tow is 2500LBS but the GVWR jumps to 8100 LBS. That is the total wieght of the car and trailer that can be towed safely. Its all in how you look at the weights but you need to compare apples to apples..... PS : even thought the GVWR is 8100LBS there is still a MAX on the trailer of 2500LBS.. you cant put less in the car and add it to the trailer as the drivetrain itself can only handle so much weight being pushed on it while braking and accelerating. Trailer brakes will affect max towing capaicties and can allow you to increase your max trailer weight but if there is ever an accident and you trailer weights over the 2500LBS then you will be in big trouble with the police and also your insurance will not cover you so use this with caution !!!!!
  5. the problems you are having is the exact reason why I traded our 2010 in. We tow a popup camper and the last thing i need is bad brakes, the stock mopar ones are crap and the rotors were undersized until this year. I had to take a hit on our financing but am glad I did.
  6. here in canada you cant drive down the street without seeing 5 or 6 so they are super popular here, on my block alone i know of 4, lol !!!! welcome to the forums...
  7. so muted as in lower volume that what should be... everything seems to be fine but it does sound weak compared to the 2010 that we traded in, when i go to the dealership just tell them about the update ???
  8. I know they didnt add the bigger rotors until this model year(2013) and im not 100% sure but I have been told that the upgrade is only on the 2013 AWD models on top of that.
  9. our 2010 yes, the 2013 they make the rotors bigger and supposely do not warp anymore.
  10. Interested to see what is found out, I know our 2013 is not as bassy as our 2010 was and am also disappointed with the upgrade...
  11. I really fear this topic is going to create a back and forth drama of what can be towed safely... Im closure can we just say to look in your owners manual and be done with it !?!?!? Also can we get an ADMIN to close this topic and leave it up as a reminder of why one shouldn't tow more then the rated amount based on safey issues and not assume you can tow more just because of the DRIVETRAIN alone...
  12. Dont post on a forum if you dont value opinions !!!! the fact of the matter is that car sales men, and yes even dodge dealer directors will tell you want you want to hear to make a sale. Im not generalizing and saying that all are bad and YES, some will lie to your face and in the end its your car and if something ever happens where they say you voided your warentee and abused your car then you got nobody to blame but yourself. Will something happen, who knows, but im sure if something does go wrong that same dierector will be the first to say that the manual only says you can only tow 2500 lbs !!!
  13. if its a 2011 then any problems/diagnosing should be covered under the factory warentee , right ??
  14. We are just at our max towing with out camper as well as we had a 2010 that had 3500lbs and now a 2013 with a towing capacity of 2500lbs. I was confused at first also about why the rating was decreased but after some reseach came to the same conclusion about not just looking at the engine alone and consider everything in the car(gearing, tires, suspension, etc.) Our dealership also told us about being able to tow more but they are there to make a sale and its not their car being used. As I have said I am maxed out with our 2013 but with the trailer brakes and the fact that we live in a very flat area and do not tow for extending periods we will be fine but in the back of mind I understand that I may be wearing things out pre maturely and know the risks. We are very careful when we tow and with 3 kids I would never do anything that didnt feel safe....
  15. the transmission can be alittle jumpy at first as its learning your driving and adjusting to it. It should get better after a few months. We just traded in our 2010 for a 2013 and loved our old and new journey and have had very few issues that were taken care of by dodge so if you do come across any issues just bring them up at the dealership and im sure they will help you out given its a brand new purchase......
  16. The 8.4 without nav lacks the GPS locator that would allow the unit to track you thus the reason you would need a whole new unit
  17. we tow a 12" popup but we have the V6 with towing prep package making our max capacity of 2500 LBS towing weight and are fine. Your 4 cylinder with a towing cpacity of 1000LBS will not be enough to tow a small 8" popup safely. In looking at most of the brands out there a unloaded 8" popup will weight approx 1200 LBS without anything packed into it. So in short it could do serious damage to your drive train not to mention your stopping power may not be there if you need to make a quick stop. I wouldnt recommend it. If you know exactly what brand/model of popup you are wanting to tow I could try and get an exact weight of it.
  18. The only back available in CANADA is the TRI-STAGE one... the only "flat" colors are a white/grey and red.(please correct me if im wrong)
  19. exactly said about the warranty part, Im pretty sure just by changing out the speakers you have already voided that if they want to be pricks about it. Stock sub is 8" but a 10" will fit with alittle fitting, I know members have done it here but so far have not seen and before/during/after pics .... the thing with changing the speakers is if you put a more powerful one in then the stock amp may not be able to push them as loud. (example : stock speakers 50watt RSM(constant power) with an amp that pushes 50 watt RMS will sound loader then that same amp with lets say 100 watt RMS speakers). They may sound clearer but will not hit with the same loudness as the stock amp as 50 watts RMS cannot push a speaker that is rated for 100 watts RMS to its full potential thus losing some sound. The key with speaker and sub setups is to balance so that the amp is pushing the speakers to its full potential that it was meant to push out. The reason a sub replacement mod works so well is that all you do is take the stoch 8" 100watt RMS sub and change it for a 10" 100 watt RMS sub, that way you will get stronger bass response while still keeping the maximum amount of power pushing the sub. im not trying to say im an expert by any means, not trying to matter of fact the situation, just my general knowledge that I have learned through the years...
  20. the sil guards you can get right from your dealership, as far as the tailgate guard and chrome trim i would check out ebay.....
  21. yes it is possible but I dont know how your stock speakers will fair with that upgrade. As is the stock speakers take a pounding so upgrading the amp will prob result in blowing them after a short time. If you are thinking about changing out the amp then I would probably look into upgrading the speakers also. I have heard that upgrading the sub only will result in better bass quality although still not up to aftermarket standards. I am looking into getting mine done this summer so will let you guys know the results.
  22. are you kidding me ????? thats aweful, i would be in contact with customer care !!!!! dropping a bay door on your car is unacceptable ...
  23. Pretty much everyone has the same complaint. Unfortuneatly there is nothing that can be done short of changing out the sub for a 10" one which is alot of work as the whole rear panel needs to come out. We went from a 2010(infinity sound system) to a 2013(alpine system), both with the upgraded system and was very dissappointed with the newer one. Our 2010 BUMPED hard and our 2013 lacks bass like you said. I grew up tinkering around with aftermarket sound systems and what i can notice is that the older systems(infinity sound) had a more full range bass and the newer(alpine sound) seems to have had the EQ in the amp modified to bump only at deeper frequencies of bass. Thats the only thing i can think of is that alpine likes a more tighter bass and has adjusted the amp accordingly. Other then that im just as frustrated as you are about it !!!
  24. i feel bad for the problems your having but this is why im staying away from these kind of mods... I love the HID look but dont want to run into these kind of problems that arent part of the factory warrentee...
  25. that doesnt make sense as the newer DJ have a 3.6 compared to the 2009/10 DJ and its 3.5. So in theory the newer journeys should have a higher towing rating given the bigger motor, be it not by much, but at least the same towing capacity, is there a concrete answer as to why they are now rated at 2500 LBS ????
