Right now using the remote start often I've been up to 33L/100kms according to the evic. I reset it often maybe I should leve it alone. Does the evic use the avg economy to calculate dte? But even at that I reset the trip and I have NEVER managed to get an avg tank passed 380kms
</quote>

How long are you letting it idle? This will greatly affect your readings. My old car, a Cobalt SS, did the same - idling kills the EVIC reading and DOES have an impact on the calculation for DTE.

  2. Welcome bama and wish you luck in your new purchase. You will love the DJ if that's what you end up with. Best in class for sure as we test drove 5 or 6 "SUV's" and the DJ came out on top in every area we felt was important. My brother works for GM here in Oshawa Canada and he said he didn't blame me for going the Dodge route. Not sure what your engine options will be down south but go with the V6 if it's an option. Very little difference in KM per Litre but the power to weight ratio is incredible. Good luck and Cheers "Mate".

  3. I got my dealer to install both front and rear mudguards when I picked up the car. It is a 2010 but I am sure they are all the same.

Terry, it is my understanding that there were minor modifications done to the rear bumper area for 2011+. I ordered my mudflaps from Mopar and the fronts fit perfectly but the rears don't. They do fit but you do have to manipulate them as you screw them in. I did send an email to Mopar and the response was that "maybe I had the front and the rear mixed up or I installed them incorrectly". Neither was correct and I was a wee bit insulted but it is there first response email and I understand that maybe this does happen. I used a bit of force when applying the rears as I put the screws in and they look fine - level and tight to body. I am happy and didn't take it any further with Mopar.

Maybe DodgeCares can shed some light on this but for sure there was a change to the rear end. They are still selling the 10's for the 11's, 12's and 13's so unless they get many fitment issue complaints, I doubt they will change the mold.

I'm curious to see these installed.

Me too. I was looking at caliper covers in red but was concerned about clearance issues. Running 19's stock. There is only about 10mm clearance if that. Let us know how it works out and some pics would be great. Cheers.

That looks great. The hood and window deflectors are my list as well. I already have the WeatherTech floor mats. I'm also thinking about the mud flaps for the front, but Weathertech doesn't have them for the Journey. Are your mud flaps Mopars?

Ya Rolly, the mud flaps are Mopar. Injection molded with the DODGE logo. Fronts fit perfect, rears fit good with hard push when putting the clips and screws in. I don't think they kept up with the rear end changes and are still selling 2010's as 2012's. But overall I'm happy with them.

  6. Great "How To's". Ours came with the rear back up camera and sensors and I just installed a WeatherTech hood deflector this morning. I drilled pilot holes for the 2 screws (one on each side) and the middle uses double sided tape which to get to stick really good - clean the area with rubbing alcohol then once you tighten down the screws, push up in the middle and bam - done. I let it idle for 10 minutes to generate some heat as I installed it just above freezing. Stuck good now but the screws do most of the work. Cheers.

  7. Here are some new pics of our 2012 DJ SXT V6. Just finished adding the WeatherTech hood deflector and had added the WeatherTech window deflectors just prior to Christmas (front only). Really like the look of the wrap around hood deflector vs. the OEM that stops at the hood line. The window deflectors are awesome - they just snap into place. No double sided tape anywhere. They are an absolute requirement on the DJ due to the way the windshield meets the pillar. When it's raining and you put the wipers on, water just pours into the interior - not anymore :whew:

Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics - have any questions, ask away.

  8. Moparman, pretty sure it is an amp issue. 300 watts was the standard back in the 80's. Today, 300 watts is pathetic, especially in a large cubic feet area like the DJ. Update the amp to today's standards - 1000+ watts and only your neighbours will be complaining.

  9. I saw this on-line and am thinking about getting it and having the dealer install. Anybody have any thoughts or recommendations. Has all the inputs to run our PS3 on the long trips to Florida we take every year. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks.

  10. We have now completed 2 oil changes (1 free at dealer / 1 in the driveway) and both were done with Pennzoil Full Synthetic 5W20. As others have said, I purchase and stockpile whatever's on sale but it will always be synthetic. As DODGECARES has pointed out, we also used Mopar filters.

  11. When we remote start, the HVAC controls resume the settings we left the vehicle in but it turns on the rear window defogger. Not sure what it will do in the summer??? We'll have to wait and see. As for your problem, it may require an ECU reset??? - not sure. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but I'm sure others will have ideas. Cheers.

Personally, I can't compare with a BMW as I've never driven one, and quite honestly, the DJ (a economical Crossover SUV) shouldn't be compared to the BMW 5 Series (a luxury sedan) as they really aren't even the same class, and I'm more than certain that the BMW would out perform the DJ in almost any category other than interior space. That said, I've been pushing the DJ a bit since having our first major snow storm of the year, which included freezing rain, and find it performs admirably, even without the AWD option.
Cheers, and Merry Christmas!
I have to agree, you can't compare the DJ to a BMW that is 750kg+ lighter. I find that throttle control plays a huge part in how the system works. Mashing the throttle will give a lot of shudder in slippery conditions whereas a light foot will provide much better results in getting going with much less noise and shudder. Merry Christmas. Cheers.
