1. Here is the next appearance mod I am planning to do. Painting the chrome grill surround to match the body. I am going to have the piece dealer painted for a couple of reasons.

Has anyone done this to their DJ? Any pics? We have the Brilliant Red TC Pearl just like the pic below. Think it should look pretty good as I am going for a black and red "theme" keeping chrome to a minimum - not that there's anything wrong with chrome :punched:

Let me know what you think of the idea. Cheers.

I had read somewhere that the DJ is going to use the Dart platform (stretched) so I would assume the DJ is going to shrink some.
I doubt I'll be a repeat customer.

A "stretched Dart" platform. We'll have to wait and see but I'll also be looking elsewhere if that's the case. What a joke if true.

  3. Welcome to the forum. Congratulations. Your gonna love it. When we went to the lot, they had 36 DJ's of various trim levels but only 2 in brilliant red tri-coat pearl so we scooped the SXT. Don't see many of this red in Ontario. It's nice to kinda stand out. Anyway... enjoy your new ride and some separation for the kids :)

  4. No problems here. Kumho's on 19's. Been through one pretty rough winter (Barrie, ON Canada). Yah,.. had some wheel slip on inclines but nothing serious. Been to Florida and back (5000km's+) with no issues at any speed - 60, 70, 80mph no problems at all. 21000km's so far.

Sorry to hear you are having issues but it is not the tires as they come from the factory. It's aftermarket work causing your issues I believe.

  5. Someone needs to run their 3.6L V6 completely dry - I've heard this question many times and the only way to resolve is to purposely run dry. Since getting our 2012 last June, our most litres to full has been 67.XXX - that's only after pushing the fuel light for 2 or 3 days and running out of nerves. I personally don't want to damage any fuel parts but this is the only way to confirm how much fuel the tank will hold. Any volunteers??? LOL

  6. Picked up our new 2013 DJ Crew tonight. The comfort is sure better than the 2009 DJ. Wife was like a kid in a candy shop she was so excited to pick it up. If I knew how to post pictures I would. Can someone help with that? :shades:

Open an account with PhotoBucket or similar image hosting site, upload some pics to their servers then copy the img file and paste the code into the "image" button when your posting and bam... your pic is on the site. You can also start a gallery as well. Hope this helps and congrats on your new big boy toy. Your gonna love it.

  7. That sucks when you can see it coming and can't do a damn thing about it. Sorry to hear about it and as Rolly said, hope everyone was OK. Have they at least got you in something half decent while you wait for the rear door?

  8. I would recommend full synthetic oil for sure. I did my first at 4900km's (3000 miles), did my second at 9650km's and will be doing the 3rd oil change next week - about 15500km's. We leave on a 5000km "Journey" to Florida and back to Ontario next week. I've used full synthetic for every oil change and also used it in my old car - a Chevy Cobalt SS.

Congrats on your purchase. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new ride. :)

  9. Thanks Rolly. I would like to see one how to section just as the "Welcome" area is detailing how to post, what to post - instructions on how to use the forum, search the forum, etc then with sub-forums for specific model years, different engines, etc then topics of how-to's such as "oil change", "air filter change" - the list could go on and on. I would be willing to contribute step by step with images and / or videos of any projects that I do to my DJ. The most popular how to's could be pinned to the top such as an oil change. Members could add their experiences, short cuts, further instructions, questions, etc.

Hope this helps but I'm sure there will be more input from other members.

  10. Yah... as Rolly said - Welcome to the forum. I see your from NYC, on our trip to Florida in March we are visiting The World Trade Center Memorial for the first time to pay our respects. It will be our first time in NYC so we're quite excited. Enjoy your new ride. Cheers.

  11. Welcome to the forum. Good community on here. Lots of information and answers. We love our 2012 DJ SXT as well. Best vehicle we have ever owned - married 24 years with 4 kids. Always been a GM family but stepped away to Dodge and am so glad we did. So many toys, nice ride, lots of power and torque, great sound from stock stereo and so far, everything has been perfect (14,000 km's). Done 2 oil changes (synthetic) and one tire rotation. We added a drop in K&N Filter and added some interior and exterior parts both for looks and functionality. Again, welcome and enjoy your new Dodge. Cheers.

  12. Hey all,

Does anyone know the part # for the sun visor vanity mirror bulbs - both stock and LED.

I want to replace the bulbs with LED and the Lamp Replacement Guide from Sylvania does not list the vanity mirror???

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob

  13. So. . .

Received my caliper covers last week, but was traveling so I didn't get a chance to install. I am impressed with the quality of the workmanship, but when I went to install the caliper covers, they were clearly too large. I text'd pics of the size disparity then called MGP and spoke with a few service reps who could not imagine why they did not fit. Stamped part numbers were correct, but they were way too big to go on my calipers. The only possible explanation they could offer over the phone we that maybe the wrong plates were used to fabricate the covers in my case. My understanding of their process is that they fabricate each set of covers specifically for each order. Evidently they have a number of flat plate templates that are then used as the starting point to fabricate the covers specific to your particular vehicle. MGP indicated that they have successfully installed their caliper covers on "hundreds of dodge journey vehicles".

Anyway, they were very nice and I have since returned the covers. I will await their response and update this topic. I am still hopeful that the fitment and size disparity are a result of a simple mistake of starting with the wrong flat template.

    Peace.

That sucks. Hope you get everything worked out and the correct ones installed. Would love to see pics and get the part #'s before buying. Once you do get it worked out, I know they will make the 19's POP - I used to have them on my Cobalt SS and they rocked. Good luck and keep us to date. Cheers.
