  1. Welcome to the forums! You'll enjoy your new Journey -- they are great vehicles. There is a wealth of information here so if you have a question, it has probably been talked about at some point in time. There are Dodge techs that monitor it too, and they can be extremely helpful as well.

Welcome Shaun. I totally agree with the above statement by "sysbasys". You'll find some great discussion's here with lots of different ideas and guides. We're first time Dodge owners and absolutely love the DJ. We got our 2012 SXT V6 in June... so far, an awesome experience. Enjoy and ask away. Always loads of input. Cheers.
  2. Srtified - did your dealer find the storm grey one in Alberta by chance?

Only ask as our dealer found us one there, same specs and hit was hit by a bad hail storm and had to be fully repainted, so we passed on it.

There was a bad storm that rolled through there in Aug 2012 and damaged a tonne of vehicles and last thing I want was a new truck that had already had a full body paint job.

I hope this isn't the one on its way to you!

That would be the 2012's sitting on a lot in August wouldn't it? I don't know if the 2013's have begun delivery yet - I would assume not.
  3. Quite honestly wasn't advocating the rocking of the DJ

everytime you fill up but more to establish the fact

    that either it does/doesn't help.

Just a starting mark when you complain to Chrysler,

    again to indicate poor ventilation.

It is most definitely poor ventilation. When I was filling up last week, I let up on the flow counting about 5 to 6 seconds per litre, about a quarter throttle and when it clicked, I rounded up to the next whole dollar and the tank read full for the first time. Seems the air can't escape as fast as fuel is entering the tank. Poorly designed tank neck. This solution worked for me. Took about a minute extra but got her full. Cheers.
  4. Congratulations JourneyGirl. U will love the DJ. I would suggest you take the Chrysler care package - Paint Sealant, Rust Protection, Undercoating and Fabric Protection. It's a bit pricey but well worth it if u plan on keeping for the next 5 years +. Oh ya, welcome to the forum. Enjoy.

  5. For our 2012 SXT, we took the entire Master Shield package offered by the dealer prior to taking delivery. Yes it was pricy but we felt it was well worth it before taking it out on the road and putting any KM's on it. Included in the Master Shield was Fabic Protector, Undercoat, Rust Inhibitor and Paint Sealant. About two weeks after taking delivery we received a letter in the mail from "Service Contracts" Chrysler Canada stating the Limited Lifetime Warranty - it was broken down as follows...

    MS1 - Master Shield Paint Sealant - Expiry 06/11/2017

    MS2 - Master Shield Fabric Protector - Expiry 06/11/2017

    MS3 - Master Shield Rust Protection - Expiry 12/31/2049

    MS4 - Master Shield Undercoat - Expiry 12/31/2049

I would recommend all these if you can talk the price down a little bit as we did. Dealer did a really good job (nothing dripping or oozing). I suspect they know their vehicles and have alll the proper equipment and trained people to complete the job professionallly.

Rolly's after prep as mentioned above is a great idea that I will also be following. We plan on having the truck for at least 5 years so it may also prove to be a good re-sale point. Parking in a garage if you have access is also a great paint and fabric saver.

  6. I believe the Kumho shortage is improved, at least. There are other brands and different sizes that will fit on our Journeys. Don't panic. When the time comes, you'll have plenty of replacement choices. Keep your Journey aligned and your tires properly inflated and chances are that your tires will last a long time. Anything can happen, though, I've had mine for over a year on my 2011, and I have had no issues. They've rolled as smoothly at 105mph as they have at 10mph thus far. I even put a different size/design of Kumho tires on my wife's SUV. No problem over the last 8 months on her rig either. Good Luck.

    Peace.

And if I may add... rotate every 10,000km's as this will ensure even wear. My neighbor has an 11' DJ and was bitching about the front tires being bald. Looking at the rears, you could tell the tires had never been rotated and the front of a DJ carries a lot of weight over the front tires so rotate religiously every 10,000km's and they will last just like any other tire.
  7. Nobody has answered the question regarding wether if you move

or rock these particular DJs with the gascap off can you put more fuel

into the tank,it would seem to me that if you can this would show

filler/tank ventilation might be the reason.

I agree that ventilation is a most likely cause but I am no going to "rock and roll" my DJ every time I fill up just to get another couple of litres into it. There has to be a fix from Chrysler in the form of a TSB to address this well documented issue. Instead of bickering with my service manager, I will wait for the TSB to be released and take it in hand to the dealership and have it fixed and filled up N/C for testing purposes of course.
  8. We run with the Weathertechs currently in the front only... due to price. Will be adding the rears and cargo before the snow flys. Really like em but to each his own. Easy to remove. Easy to clean back to that "out of the box" look.

Just an update on our 2 month old WeatherTech front mats... I have pulled them out twice and hand washed them with a normal hose attachment and the WeatherTech label on both have come off. Seems the quality of glue is not up to par. I am currently in contact with WeatherTech regarding this and am awaiting a response this week as to what they are prepared to do. Their website says they pride themselves on quality but I am questioning that quality. I would not recommend WeatherTech currently. I am looking for a bug deflector and front window air deflectors but until WeatherTech addresses my concerns, they won't get another penny from me. Have not tried the Husky's so can not comment on them but from what I have read, they are of good quality and price.
  9. Yah... congrats. You will love the DJ. Can honestly say our 2012 is the best vehical we have ever owned since my first Honda Civic at 16 in 84'. Always been a GM customer as my brother works at the Oshawa plant and the discount was our decision maker. When my brother saw the DJ, he said he didn't blame me considering what GM has to offer in this class. The DJ out performs all the comp in this price range in all areas (performance, interior, gadgets and toys, handling, etc.) Anyway, enjoy once you get it and make sure to give us all an update as to what you think about it. No regrets here for sure.

  10. This is great news. My wife has been asking if she can watch a movie on the way to Florida next year in our 2012 8.4. Going to give it a try tomorrow and will update this post after trying on 2012 model. Awesome find but like other people have said - only for the passenger, of course :-)

Tried it and it worked perfectly on 2012 8.4 fullscreen.
  11. Am i doing something not right with my 2012 r/t? I got my first full tank on it and i haven't consumed it yet but my distance to empty on my EVIC is only 414 km knowing that it has 79liter tank capacity!

Andmy EVIC says im averaging 21.9L/100km on my first 200 km.

Then i reset my EVIC, now im getting average 18.9L/100km for my another 200km!

But still im not happy with my fuel consumption.

Im driving it really gentle didnt even let its RPM touch to 3000.

Anybody can give advise or fix for it?

But all in all i love my new journey!

Are you running the A/C alot or sitting idling or both? Both these, especially idling can really kill your km/l. Are you wearing steel toe boots? :-):-):-)
  12. Just one more way we 2011 owners got the shaft when it comes to functionality of our 8.4" radios compared to the 2012 model.

We have a 2012 SXT with an 8.4 (without nav) and none of our 3 phones work with the SMS function. 3 different phone manufacturers. Don't work. Period. Paid for a function bundled as a "group" and it will probably never work. So it's not just you 2011 owners. It's been passed on to another model year. I'm pissed. I text many, many times daily and expected it to work. Doubt we'll ever see a fix. Disappointed in Dodge, Fiat, whatever.
  13. I initially was a little hesitant on white but after nearly 2 years of ownership I am glad I did. In the past I have always had a coloured vehicle usually red but I am now very happy with my white car.

IMO it looks good, does not show the dirt nearly as much as I thought, even then it seems to look cleaner. The only SMALL complaint I seem to have is that it is a weeeee bit harder to wax as the wax also dries white and is harder to see what you have already done. :woot:

    Terry

Yah Terry... the white looks really "smart ". Back in the late 80's we had a white GMC pick-up and it was really easy to keep clean. Waxing can be an issue but rather than a once a year wax, you may want to use a spray wax 3 or 4 times a year. I know Armor All makes a clear wax that does not haze white. Really like the look of your truck - the running boards are going to be our next purchase as well as front tint. Take care.

    You aren't missing anything.

The doors lock automatically when the vehicle's speed goes over 24 km/h.

I have looked into getting it changed over to lock when the vehicle is put in to gear although this system is designed as such and can only be turned on or off by the dealer.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance.

So are you saying if I take our DJ to the dealer, this can be programmed into the truck meaning the doors will auto lock on transmission engagement instead of 24 km/h???
  15. Our previous car was a Cobalt SS. When you engaged the transmission - the doors locked. This is for safety. With our new 12' DJ, the doors only lock automatically at a certain speed. This is just plain stupid. My wife goes to the gym at 5:30AM daily and safety is a concern. She's learning to manually lock the doors as she pulls out of the garage but shouldn't have to. Is there a setting that we're missing? We park in the garage every night so with the Cobalt, as soon as she begins to back out, the doors locked which was safe as she warmed the car up in the driveway. Can't find any setting to lock the doors any other way in the DJ. Are we missing something?
