  1. Someone needs to run their 3.6L V6 completely dry - I've heard this question many times and the only way to resolve is to purposely run dry. Since getting our 2012 last June, our most litres to full has been 67.XXX - that's only after pushing the fuel light for 2 or 3 days and running out of nerves. I personally don't want to damage any fuel parts but this is the only way to confirm how much fuel the tank will hold. Any volunteers??? LOL
  2. Open an account with PhotoBucket or similar image hosting site, upload some pics to their servers then copy the img file and paste the code into the "image" button when your posting and bam... your pic is on the site. You can also start a gallery as well. Hope this helps and congrats on your new big boy toy. Your gonna love it.
  3. That sucks when you can see it coming and can't do a damn thing about it. Sorry to hear about it and as Rolly said, hope everyone was OK. Have they at least got you in something half decent while you wait for the rear door?
  4. I would recommend full synthetic oil for sure. I did my first at 4900km's (3000 miles), did my second at 9650km's and will be doing the 3rd oil change next week - about 15500km's. We leave on a 5000km "Journey" to Florida and back to Ontario next week. I've used full synthetic for every oil change and also used it in my old car - a Chevy Cobalt SS. Congrats on your purchase. Welcome to the forum and enjoy your new ride.
  5. Thanks Rolly. I would like to see one how to section just as the "Welcome" area is detailing how to post, what to post - instructions on how to use the forum, search the forum, etc then with sub-forums for specific model years, different engines, etc then topics of how-to's such as "oil change", "air filter change" - the list could go on and on. I would be willing to contribute step by step with images and / or videos of any projects that I do to my DJ. The most popular how to's could be pinned to the top such as an oil change. Members could add their experiences, short cuts, further instructions, questions, etc. Hope this helps but I'm sure there will be more input from other members.
  6. Are you guys idling a lot due to the cold weather? I know just letting ours warm up has greatly affected the gas mileage.
  7. Yah... congratulations. Your gonna love it. Cheers mate.
  8. Congratulations. Another fairly cheap mod would be to put in a K&N drop in air filter. Gives the engine a nice sound at higher rpm and it lasts forever. Fuel savings and more horsepower is debatable but it was the first mod I did. Cheers.
  9. Welcome. I take it from your profile pic, your DJ is white. Very sharp looking. Enjoy the journey in your new Journey Cheers.
  10. Yah... as Rolly said - Welcome to the forum. I see your from NYC, on our trip to Florida in March we are visiting The World Trade Center Memorial for the first time to pay our respects. It will be our first time in NYC so we're quite excited. Enjoy your new ride. Cheers.
  11. Welcome to the forum. Good community on here. Lots of information and answers. We love our 2012 DJ SXT as well. Best vehicle we have ever owned - married 24 years with 4 kids. Always been a GM family but stepped away to Dodge and am so glad we did. So many toys, nice ride, lots of power and torque, great sound from stock stereo and so far, everything has been perfect (14,000 km's). Done 2 oil changes (synthetic) and one tire rotation. We added a drop in K&N Filter and added some interior and exterior parts both for looks and functionality. Again, welcome and enjoy your new Dodge. Cheers.
  12. I'm not a mechanic but it sounds like it could be an idle speed sensor fault or temperature sensor could be faulty which may cause the torque converter to lock up causing the jerk when put into gear. Needs to see your dealer. Good luck.
  13. Hey all, Does anyone know the part # for the sun visor vanity mirror bulbs - both stock and LED. I want to replace the bulbs with LED and the Lamp Replacement Guide from Sylvania does not list the vanity mirror??? Thanks in advance, Rob
  14. That sucks. Hope you get everything worked out and the correct ones installed. Would love to see pics and get the part #'s before buying. Once you do get it worked out, I know they will make the 19's POP - I used to have them on my Cobalt SS and they rocked. Good luck and keep us to date. Cheers.
  15. Did you paint the chrome on the front grille??? Nice look.
  16. Ebay. If you need the seller name, let me know and thanks - I like it too unless I'm sitting beside a Ram or a Charger with a Hemi LOL
  17. Hey Rolly, I was going to attempt the install myself but I want it done right so may pay the 1.5 hours for install. The Weathertech hood deflector comes with their logo and phone # painted on the drivers side in white - looks like s*it. I used a little bit of nail polish remover and it came right off. Just FYI.
  18. Serpentine belt. The rubber can trap moisture, freeze then when you start it squeals for the first couple of revolutions. May also be loose - may need tightened. You can also buy a belt dressing that will lubricate the belt but I would check the tightness first. Cheers.
  19. Thanks guys. Next I think Romik running boards in black diamond plate. Saving The red is in Tri-coat Pearl so it really has a nice sheen to it. Were really happy with it - our first Dodge ever. Always been a GM family. Thanks again for the nice comments. Cheers.
  20. It looks good. Does the 4.3 have soft touch climate controls? It kinda blocks the hard keys but certainly beats $1500.00 at the dealer.
  21. <quote class='ipsquote'data-author="Defender007" data-cid="25401" data-time="1357271879"><p> Right now using the remote start often I've been up to 33L/100kms according to the evic. I reset it often maybe I should leve it alone. Does the evic use the avg economy to calculate dte? But even at that I reset the trip and I have NEVER managed to get an avg tank passed 380kms</p></quote> How long are you letting it idle? This will greatly affect your readings. My old car, a Cobalt SS, did the same - idling kills the EVIC reading and DOES have an impact on the calculation for DTE.

    Hi from Oz

Welcome bama and wish you luck in your new purchase. You will love the DJ if that's what you end up with. Best in class for sure as we test drove 5 or 6 "SUV's" and the DJ came out on top in every area we felt was important. My brother works for GM here in Oshawa Canada and he said he didn't blame me for going the Dodge route. Not sure what your engine options will be down south but go with the V6 if it's an option. Very little difference in KM per Litre but the power to weight ratio is incredible. Good luck and Cheers "Mate".
  23. Terry, it is my understanding that there were minor modifications done to the rear bumper area for 2011+. I ordered my mudflaps from Mopar and the fronts fit perfectly but the rears don't. They do fit but you do have to manipulate them as you screw them in. I did send an email to Mopar and the response was that "maybe I had the front and the rear mixed up or I installed them incorrectly". Neither was correct and I was a wee bit insulted but it is there first response email and I understand that maybe this does happen. I used a bit of force when applying the rears as I put the screws in and they look fine - level and tight to body. I am happy and didn't take it any further with Mopar. Maybe DodgeCares can shed some light on this but for sure there was a change to the rear end. They are still selling the 10's for the 11's, 12's and 13's so unless they get many fitment issue complaints, I doubt they will change the mold.
