Have you tried simply re-updating your system again?  Maybe something happened in the update that made the acutal english language file nonfunctional.  Just trying the same update again may be useful.  If you can obtain the same update from a different source, that may be good to do if the original file was somehow corrupted.  As always, I would try certainly unhooking the battery for about 30 mins to see how the system behaves after that.  Good luck.

I second the extended warranty. Best insurance, especially with all the electronics, and yes make sure it's a Chrysler warranty!

welcome to the group i had a 2011 main street loved it  had about 70 k on it and stopped by the dealership and next thing i knew i was buying a 2014 crossroad, lol anyways didnt have any problems with the 2011 but i did buy the max lifetime yrs and miles on the crossroad as i plan on driving it till the wheels come off or i pass off to the great beyond.....

My wife and I have gotten a few looks and compliments on our RT.  We love our Journey though I do know it is early days yet, but being a committed and repeat Chrysler owner (3 vehicles: 2 Dodges and 1 Jeep, while my dad purchased 7 for himself and 3 others for family members during his lifetime) I am familiar with them and trust their products.   I also love knowing I am supporting the North American economy.
 
I have always liked the generally affordable cost to maintain/repair domestic vehicle, though all the electrical/computer gadgetry (and the accompanying wiring) does intimidate a wee bit for someone raised on locking hubs, crank windows and cassette decks.  
I guess I'm showing my age.
 
In my experience I have found, like in most things, if you take care of the vehicle it will take care of you (just like this website which is a GOLDmine of collective knowledge and accumulated wisdom).

Me? Getting to see my mom and dad with both kids and their significant others. Really lights my moms smile up when all her grandkids can get together.

I'm on a surf trip in El Salvador.   I caught the wave of the day.  3 feet overhead.   Slayed it for 100+ yards!  That made me smile today.

When I was at the hospital today for treatment I saw a young couple with four small boisterous children and the mother was pregnant with another one.

Total Bullocks! The DJ performs well, and exceptionally well for what it is, a sub 30k 3 row crossover. I for one think it still looks good, handsomely simple I call it

I agree.  The DJ is one of the best looking crossovers IMO.   The more I think about this thread, the more I get pissed.  F#*K consumer reports.  The DJ review is completely off the mark.  What does that say about their other reviews?

Had my new 235/55R19 installed, the wider tread and taller sidewall look great! Also the new windshield really helps the looks! I have to say, I'm very happy with the looks of my Journey R/T ;-)

And that's exactly why I buy what I like.  I don't give a damn what other companies/magazines have to say about the product.

How did consumer reports recruit so many mopar haters into one place?  While the DJ is not perfect, neither is any other vehicle.  I really like mine.  Still runs like the day it came home from the dealer.   My mileage has been pretty darn good.  In New Mexico, speed limits are 75 mph on the highway, winds are often quite strong, the elevation is nearly 7000 ft, and there are plenty of hills; I still get 23-26 mpg. . .   That's even with roof cargo such as bike.  
 
Consumer reports really is unfair and unknowledgeable.

I think you answered your own question.  It's not much of an inconvenience. . .   I would think your 2017 crossroad probably has a lot of niceties that you didn't have on your civic, just not the walk away lock feature.  I am correct?  
As long as you are happy with the other aspects of your DJ, you'll get used to having to push the button when you leave the vehicle, it will become habit, and you'll forget all about the locking feature.
