I'm running Kumho's on my Mustang, Sebring and the Journey, also had them on my Z28. Never had a complaint. I am somewhat fanatical about checking tire pressure and rotating. Have an app on my phone that reminds me. Rotations every 5k. Tire pressure once a month. I've got 5 vehicles and I do them all myself. Rotations take me about 20o mins. Having multiple floor jacks and an indoor heated/cooled garage helps.....

I kind of figured seeing one post about poor fuel economy and another on tires wearing quickly that it would be an indication of their driving habits. The only other thread missing by the OP is the one of brakes wearing quickly and that would seal the deal on how they drive.

Before I bought the Journey, I joined this forum to see what member's experiences were. I was impressed with most of the information except with the tires. A lot of the comments were very negative about the Kumho tires. I really thought seriously about having the tires swapped at the dealers but I couldn't make a deal without taking a big hit on the cost. I'm really glad I didn't, because my experience has been positive. I have over 35,000 kilometres on them and they still look good. I've always rotated my tires every 10,000 kilometres on any vehicle I've owned and check my tire pressure regularly. I'm not sure if that's why mine are holding up, but I'm sure it helped. This is my second winter on them and have not had any problems even with all the snow we've had.

maybee the Marks front tires were somewhat still good meaning the org owner never rotated his tires also city driving and hard stopping and fast take offs wears the tires out alot faster then normal. which might be true as he also posted about getting bad gas mileage if a different posting.anyways everyone has a different opinion of kumos and as i stated before i got at least 60k out of them and other bloggers have said about the same . so i think its more of how you drive(all city VS a good mix of hwy and city driving) and rotate your tires. happy trails everyone...............

I got a 2012 new in 2012. My Mom liked it she went and got a 2010. My Dad just went and got a 2014 RT. So there are three in my family.

It would seem to me that the OP's vehicle wasn't babied. My ex used to complain about brake life on ANY vehicle she had - we used to give her the new one and I'd get her old one and strangely I always got twice as much mileage out of brakes and much better fuel economy than she did.
The OP might do himself a favour by perhaps taking a look at how his wife drives when 'unsupervised'.
I have 40K on mine and am still on original brakes & tires, though the rear pads will be replaced shortly. I do a pretty even mix of highway and urban driving. Fuel economy tends to sit at between 11-12 l/100 km, so I'm not driving like an old lady, either.
The only issues I've had to date were a leaking manifold gasket and a stuck air door in the heating system.

Any premium set from Centric, Raybestos, Wagner, NAPA are good and reputable aftermarket brands. Rockauto sells the Powerstop rotor and pad kits which are also good.....my advice is to stay away from any of the cheap Chinese slotted rotors and pads that sell on ebay.

Journey_SeXT nailed it. If you want good rotors/pads, get the "premium" line of raybestos, wagner, etc. Brake performance has good stuff too. Dont get slotted/drilled, those are a waste of money unless you're into rally cross or something.

I agree with Fabio a follow up report on those Callahan's would be a good idea. BTW welcome to the forum Fabio!

    Hello Jay,
Are the Callahan rotors and pads still performing great? I'm looking for a trusted aftermarket option...
    Thanks!

Many posters frustrated with a problem vehicle will use car forums as their platform to vent there frustration and I get that. It happens on all forums but I still don't feel that is the majority sentiment with the Journey.....I love mine and other DJ owners that I know are quite happy also. My DJ so far has proven to be a real workhorse and I will definitely look to upgrade in the future.

It's real disappointing that GM couldn't carry on the design of the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice in their Chevy line up. That is a sharp looking car.

We have over 36,000 kilometres on our Journey and have only had the radio and navigation system replaced and weatherstripping on three windows replaced. No mechanical problems and the Kumho tires have been regularly rotated and still in good shape. We love our Journey as well. Best vehicle I've ever owned! By the number of forum members who are repeat owners I would say that says a lot about the Journey! Unfortunately you can get stuck with a bad product with any manufacturer and there should be a better way to resolve these problems. I feel bad for those who have been stuck with a vehicle that they paid good money for and can't get satisfaction. It also doesn't help when you have someone who posts a few times just to stir the pot.

Welcome to the forum! I know 2 Journey owners that trading their 4 cylinder for a 6 because of the slow acceleration. I went with the 6 but if I had the 4 I wouldn't have complained as my previous vehicle (CR-V) was REALLY slow to accelerate....I must have got the finger from well over a dozen people trying to merge onto the 401.

Journey_SeXT reacted to onecrazyfoo4u in No oil added after oil change
This is exactly why I always do my own oil changes. 10 years ago I took my honda to a shop...they didn't put an o-ring on with the oil filter. Needless to say, all the oil drained out after I drove it a couple miles. I drove it very gently dry (no oil) for about 5 miles to the store to get a new filter/oil. It never had a problem many years after that.
How far did you drive it? Did you drive it very gently? If it's a very small amount, IMO you should be fine. I would still save all paperwork, take pictures with a date stamp, save the oil you drained, confront the shop manager. See what they say. They should put you on some official record so that if anything happens in the future, the shop would be liable to pay. If they refuse to do anything, then you'll have to file a lawsuit.
Please never use these cheap oil change shops again!!!
