redtomatoman got a reaction from Windancer in 2014 Dodge Journey Daytime Running Lights
Folks keep mentioning night-time. Remember, DRLs are for daylight; not night when your headlights will already be on. I find DRLs most beneficial and visible during sunny days when attempting to identify whether there is an oncoming vehicle when thinking about a pass on a two lane road. That said, I use them when traveling on long stretches of road and not when in town. When traveling its one less thing I need to think about and when I'm home I simply turn them off. Love the touch screen functionality.
Not sure why this situation of no dealership activation for DRLs has arisen, but I think those who want to have them enabled should be able to. There may be a software or hardware reason. I'd like to see Dodge just make them standard. Just my opinion.
    Peace.

No airbags but the headrests do deploy forward in a crash. Unless you know exactly what you are doing, I don't recommend removing headrests.

redtomatoman got a reaction from V6DJ in 283hp versus 305hp?
Does it really matter? I have raced a challenger just for fun. It must have been a V6 because I managed to beat it with two bikes on the roof, 2 passengers, and a third row full of mountain biking gear. Terminal velocity over 100mph. Evidently, there is no real difference between 283 and 305. The only difference is the cocktail party banter? I used to think a tune would be simply bad ass, but now I realize the real strength of the DJ is utility. With a little vinegar mixed in, of course. If you want a challenger, get one. Our DJs won't ever be a challenger. DJs are cooler,IMHO.

When you live at 7000 feet elevation in NM, you get some snow. And, yes, my FWD does fine in the snow.

245/50/19 are almost spot on for wheel diameter so that keeps the speedometer accurate. 255/50/19 will fit (according to discount tire) but the speedometer will be read slightly low. I'm going to go with one of those sizes when I need new tires. I'm at 42,000+ miles currently. I think I can get another 5k out of them.

redtomatoman got a reaction from Dcbratton in 2011 Dodge Journey steering wheel vibration
Not sure. I too have a 2011 with some very slight vibration. I can't decide what mine is either. I think it may be the OEM tires as my DJ is not my daily driver and sits in the garage most of the week. I have not had the brake issues because even though I have 37,000+ miles on my DJ, they are mostly highway miles. There are times when the vibration behaves just as you describe on light braking and other times it is constant. My vibration is very slight as to not be that noticeable most of the time so I haven't done anything about it. I will be following this thread to see what others say. . .

Thanks for the suggestions. No corrosion around the battery, jump start or distribution box. Haven't check other points like starter or straps, if there are any. Haven't tried anything to do with the transmission, but will check next time it happens.

I've got 41,000ish miles on my oem kumhos. I keep wanting to put new tires on the DJ, but honestly I think I got another 5,000 miles before they are shot. Tire wear depends on your driving style, your local street surfaces, and maintenance (air pressure and rotations). Mine still roll as smooth as they day I got my DJ.

Just got back from an 950 mile trip through Colorado with the DJ. Averaged right on 30 mpg on the EVIC. Didn't check it at home, but checked it mid-way and it was 0.4 over. So, at least 29 mpg through the Colorado Rockies. High point at about 9000 feet. I'm pretty damn impressed. Had ample power to make lots of FAST 2 lane road passes. Man the DJ has power when you need it!

Not sure why no one has mentioned this previously: you should take it to the dealer service center. They will likely be able to fix this issue. They work on Dodges.

redtomatoman got a reaction from dhh3 in Journey SRT planned for 2016
Found these nuggets from an article about the future plans of Chrysler (now FCA) :
Dodge Journey is to be refocused to be more “Dodge-like,” while Chrysler will handle the mini-minivan aspects of the current Journey with a new mid-sized crossover. The Journey is also getting a turbocharged engine (front wheel drive only), in addition to the base model with front drive or AWD.
As noted earlier, Journey and Dart will be refreshed and refocused in mid-2016 — with SRT versions, set for launch in December 2016 and January 2017, respectively. The refresh is likely to include a new turbocharged four cylinder, the “Hurricane engine” which appears to be a mix of Tiger Shark and Pentastar engines. It may come in two versions, 240 hp standard and higher-power SRT; at the moment, Dart tops out at 184 hp.
Not sure exactly what this means. Is the DJ getting a turbocharged pentastar or a turbocharged 4 cylinder? Time will tell. The DJ is definitely the most under-appreciated vehicle in the Dodge lineup and its cool that the DJ is finally getting some attention payed to it, but I hope the SRT version has significantly more horsepower than the current pentastar version @ 283 hp. The previous 2.4L turbocharged Caliber SRT had only modestly more hp @ around 300. Torque was probably more though.
I think the DJ is already pretty "Dodge-like". Its pretty bad ass for a cross-over/utility vehicle, IMHO.
    Peace.

In the US the warranty is 3yr/36000 miles bumper to bumper, 5yr/100000 miles for powertrain. The lifetime warranty with $100 deductible can be purchased for about $2900 USD. I got the lifetime. Since I did, Murphy says I'll never need it. I'm fine with that though.
    Peace.
