  1. I would like to thank the administer and all the contributers for the great information I received from this form. It was of great service to me! I really enjoyed my 2009 Dodge Journey SXT AWD. It was great on the Highway and in the winter. I only had two problems that was covered by the warranty. My Radio had to be replaced in the first year and a broken wire turned on my Airbag Light which was also repaired. Of course my front brakes were replaced at about 35,000 Kilometers at my cost. The brakes are junk but no after market brake and rotors were available so OEM had to be used again. I owned the Journey for about 2 1/2 years and had 53,000 Km when traded and still got $19,000 on a trade for a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4-wheel drive. I made the mistake of test driving one and I had to have it and it is awasome. All the best with your Journeys. The 2011 looks great! Keith
  2. Hi Ben, I don't believe there is an indicator that indicates when you are switched to auto-headlights but there is a green headlight indicator on the top right of the cluster that lights when your headlights are actually on. There is also a green foglight indicator on the top left of your cluster that lights when your foglights are on. Hope this helps! Keith
  3. Nice Job Sprout, but does your spare tire still come down? Keith
  4. No, I would highly recommend Metro. I have bought 7 vehicles from them since 1987 without a problem. With everyone having so many problems, it's hard to believe I only had one problem with the radio and that was changed the same day. They changed the reservoir and brake switch when it was in for an oil change without me asking even though I never had a problem with either. They are a family owned and run business which is rare here in Ottawa where most dealerships are owned by Corporations that also own sereral others. My Journey is a year old this month and I have 23,000 Km. Keith
  5. Where did you get the bottom rails for your Journey? They look really sharp! Keith
  6. sdeveau, is your dealer Metro and how many Km do you have? Keith
  7. Hello All! I've had my Journey since May 2008 and couldn't be happier. It has 20,000 Km and the only problem I had was the radio craped out on me which the dealer changed with a new one. They also changed out the power steering reservoir and the brake switch because others had problems but not mine. I don't understand why some are having problems with the 3.5 L engine because this engine has been around since the mid nineties and has proved to be very reliable in other vehicles such as the Chrysler Concord, etc. It is a variant of the 3.3 L engine which came out in 89 I believe. The 3.5 L engine has a timing belt instead of chain to make the engine quietier but just remember it should be changed at abour 150,000 Km (115,000 Mi). I have had several vehicles with the 3.3 L engine and never had a problem with any of them. My 92 Caravan had 300,000 Km and the valve cover was never removed. My 02 Grand Caravan has 105000 Km and no Engine problems or any other problems for that matter. The 3.8 L engine is also a variant of the 3.3 L but both those engines have timing chains. A lot of information is available on various sites on the net concerning those engines. After almost a year I still love this vehicle. I like the toys, I like the handling, I like the gas miliege, I like the winter driving with AWD, I like the looks and I like the complements I receive from others. No wonder it's the # 2 Selling Cross-over in Canada. Good Luck to Everyone! Mine goes in for its 20,000 Oil Change today. Keith
  8. Original Tires but AWD and it's the best vehicle I ever had for driving in the snow. Driving in the snow is like driving on bare pavement in this thing but stopping takes just as long as regular vehicles. AWD was the right decision for me in Canada's snowbound Capital. Keith
  9. My light came on and when I checked the pressure (Electronic Checker) one tire was at 28 lbs. It appears on my Journey 28 lbs activates the TPMS. I then put in 33 lbs all around and the light went out even thought the recommended pressure from driver door is 27.5 lb for the front tires. At the recommended pressure the light would be on all the time. Go figure! Keith
  10. Navjay, No and Yes! This is for the REN (Non-navigation My Gig radio) but yes the back-up camera works with this set-up but I don't think it's included. This is the exact set-up I have. A lot more Info is available on this site: http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_nav_2.htm Dodge Parts does list Garmin GPS Units on their site but I'm sure you could get a better price elsewhere. Bottom line: Putting the Navigation My Gig unit in the vehicle as a aftermarket installation would be a major and expensive undertaking. Keith

  12. Hi Jay, That hitch is almost the same as mine except mine is made by Curtis. I haven't towed anything yet so I can't comment on how the Journey will tow but I expect it will be OK. I have the window shades as well which were available at the dealer. Keith
  13. I agree Jaymista. I plan to get my Engine Oil changed at 5,000 Km for the first couple of changes anyway. I also plan to switch to Mobil 1 Synthetic at about 10,000 Km. I'm also thinking about the AWD Transfer Case/Rear End oil and plan to do some research on when it should be changed. I know the rear end oil on my Goldwing Motorcycle was black the first couple of times I changed it but runs really clear now. I can't see how a car would be any different! Keith
  14. I just returned from my first road trip on Sunday night and I checked my gas miliage but it is in metric so here are my figures and someone else can figure them out. I drove 360 Km after topping of the tank and it took 39 Liters of Reg Gas to top it off again. I stopped pumping gas when it clicked off but it was a a different gas station but same company (Petro Canada). My Journey is 3.5L AWD with 2,000 Km on the clock. My speed was 118 Km (GPS Set) per hour on cruise for 95% of the time. I am impressed since the engine is not broken in yet. My meter reads about 2 Km higher than GPS Speed. BYE THE WAY "WARNING" Do not let your daughter or son who is a new Police Officer with several Police Driving Courses take your new Journey for a test ride! Just after I opened my eyes she told me the traction control and AWD work fine as does the ABS Brakes. Keith
  15. nelsonclan, I believe it's directly proportional to the location of the drivers seat. In my case I can still see the full rear view mirrow when the drop-down mirrow is deployed however I'm not a big fan of the image in that mirrow so only deploy it occasionally to make sure everyone who is supposed to be there is still there. I find it rather destracting and would not use it on a full time basis. It's the old love/hate syndrome in that some people will love it and others will hate it. I'm just kind of sitting on the fence. Keith
  16. Thanks LBD-CT, That's a great and informative article. I seem to learn more about this vehicle every day. This is a great form with lots of information due in no small part to people like you, Rob, Snow Runner and lots of others. Keep it coming, Keith
  17. Good to hear this Rob. What a Soap Opera this is turning out to be. I keep looking at this site to see the latest twist and turn. Maybe CTV would be interested for their next Sit Com. Anyway I think the long wait will be worth it in the end. Still not many on the roads yet. So far I saw one Black R/T ahead of me on the highway and of course we waved, sort of like motorcycles passing. All the best Rob! Keith
  18. Hi Jaymista, Your local Dodge/Chrysler dealer should be able to help you out. So far i bought the Front Wind /Rock Deflector, the Chrome gas Filler door, Locking Gas Cap, Chrome sills for 4-doors, Side Winow Deflectors and locking wheel nuts all from my dealer. When available I will get the heavy duty rear mud flaps and winter mats. At present they only have one type of mud flap which is not what I'm looking for. Also the present winter mats don't impress me that much but we have a few months before we have to worry about it. (I hope) Keith
  19. Jay, Chrysler in the US is offering a lifetime warranty for a price. In Canada however that is not an option. Keith
  20. I have the SXT but in AWD and no shudder! Keith
  21. Hi Snow Runner, My Journey has the ATC as well and I was expecting it. My understanding is that if you ordered the five seat version you received 2-Zone ATC but if you went with the extra seat you received 3-Zone Manual Temp. Control. Anyway I like the ATC but my wife complains about the fan noise which has a different higher pitch sound than most vehicles. If you turn the fan down than it puts the system into manual mode. I don't think the fan is any noiser than other vehicles with ATC but just a higher pitch sound. When the ATC is switched to AUTO the fan tends to run at a higher speed than I would normally like. We may be taken it on our first road trip this week-end to visit my daughter in Newmarket which is about a 1,000 Km return. Keith
  22. Hi Jay, It's a different story here in Canada! Chrysler Canada's roll continues on combined strength of minivan sales and rapid ascension of Dodge Journey crossover << - Chrysler Canada records best May sales in 10 years - Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivan sales top 6,500 units for the first time - Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivan sales grow nearly 50 percent year-to-date over 2007 - Dodge Journey becomes the No. 1-selling crossover in Canada - 13 Vehicles under $20,000 campaign to continue in June >> WINDSOR, ON, June 3 /CNW/ - Chrysler Canada's sales grew seven percent in May (27,325 units) and extended the unprecedented streak of year-over-year sales increases to 22 consecutive months. May sales were driven by Chrysler's one-two punch of their all-new minivans and the newly crowned most popular crossover in Canada, the Dodge Journey. Sales were also bolstered by the increased demand for fuel-efficient vehicles such as the JeepĀ® Patriot and Dodge Caliber. "Chrysler Canada's retail sales growth this year is driven by three vehicle segments that are increasing in popularity with Canadian consumers: fuel-efficient compacts, long-wheelbase minivans and crossovers," said Dave Buckingham, Vice President - Sales, Chrysler Canada. "Fuel efficiency continues to remain top of mind for consumers. Chrysler Canada is well positioned to capitalize on this demand with 20 vehicles capable of 30-plus MPG (highway)." As a result of the overwhelming response from customers, Chrysler's "Thank You Canada" pricing program will be extended through June. The program positions 13 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles under $20,000. "The Thank You Canada program has helped increase demand for both new and established vehicles in Chrysler's lineup and kept our sales momentum strong," added Buckingham. May Highlights Minivans continue to have strong appeal for Canadian consumers, as total May sales of the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country reached an all-time monthly high of 6,528 units, an increase of 52 percent compared to the same month last year. Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivan sales are up a significant 48 percent (21,645 units) through the first five months of the year. "Our minivan business is remarkable in Canada," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Chrysler Canada. "With rising fuel prices, Canadian consumers are struggling with the costs associated with large SUVs, but do not want to forego the functionality. As a result, they are getting back into our minivans in record numbers. The minivan provides exceptional fuel economy, outstanding functionality and is available for the first time ever at a starting price of under $20,000." With sales averaging 4,300 units per month, the minivan is Chrysler Canada's top-selling vehicle, Canada's third-highest selling vehicle in 2007 and the No. 1 minivan in the country for 24 consecutive years. Canada's newly crowned favourite crossover, the fuel-efficient Dodge Journey, had another month of increasingly strong sales with 1,581 units sold. This versatile crossover has won over Canadians with its 35 MPG fuel economy (highway), a seven-passenger seating capability and a starting price of $19,999. Sales of Dodge Ram, Chrysler's second-highest volume vehicle, held steady in May with 4,034 units sold. Combined Jeep Patriot, Compass and Dodge Caliber sales were up 36 percent (5,771 units) compared to May 2007, setting a new record for best month sales. Jeep Patriot and Dodge Caliber are among Chrysler's top-five selling vehicles, and are just two of the over 20 vehicles that achieve an excess of 30 MPG Highway. Additional information and news from Chrysler is available at http://www.media.chrysler.com. Keith
  23. SuperTurbo, I'm trying to determine what your question is here because it's not very clear to me. Is your question "Is Dodge really improved that much"? My questioned back would be "Compared to what?". You have to be more specific and maybe you will get an answer from one of the Form Members. What does your statement "their basic morno strut only last for like 2 yr, then it will leak oil like crazy" mean? I've had so far in excess of 50 new and used cars and find the struts are pretty much bullet proof on all cars. Hell, they are no doubt made by the same manufacturer. Ford, GM or Chrysler don't manufacturer a lot of the parts that go into a vehicle. They are supplied by auto parts manufactures. In the future you're going to see a lot of cars, trucks and vans built by other auto manufactures and rebadged. A example is the new Volkswagen mini van produced for the North America market will be made by Chrysler but with a Volkswagen Badge. So what I'm saying SuperTurbo is if you're looking for information, this is the place to come because you have a lot of knowledge and experience to draw from. If you're looking for something else than maybe you're on the wrong form. Have a good day, Keith
  24. Sorry to hear your Journey is further delayed Rob, but it sure sounds like they had to start over and rebuild yours. That is no doubt a good thing if there was a major problem with the orginal VIN. My VIN ends with 436 so it was only 31 vehicles ahead of yours and it has been in my driveway for a week and a half now. I still haven't seen another Journey on the road since I received mine. I may have to take a trip up the Valley to see Snow_Runner's besides my roof could do with new shingles as well and since he is experienced!!! By the way, the recommended air pressure is 24 LBs but mine came with 33 LBs which is approximately what I would run anyway. I plan to switch to Nitrogen in the near future at which time I will run at 34 LBs pressure. I run Nitrogen in my Grand Caravan and the pressure stays constant for at least a year. It sounds like your dealer is doing everything possible Rob so hang in there. Keith
