  1. The explanation from the manual seems to be bang on. I'm a little heavy footed from the stop sometimes and have experienced wheel spin many times with the Grand Carvan and Caliber but not yet with the Journey. It seems to dig in and just take of. It only has 650 Km on the clock now so I'm not really pushing it. AWD handles excellent in the rain. It just feels more secure and safer. Keith
  2. NiceTrip, I agree that the center stack could be better designed and the R/T is nicer but it's nothing that I can't live with. There are always ways to make it look nicer such as custom paint, ordering the R/T covers or covering. Let your imagination run wild! In my case I will let it be for now and maybe it will grow on me. By the way every year they put more and more plastic in cars to make them lighter and more fuel efficent. Good Luck. Keith
  3. Good for you Xphyle! You're gonna love it! The R/T has a nicer center stack than the SXT but I was too cheep to spend the extra bucks. Let us know how you like it after a few days. Good Luck, Keith
  4. Well gower2352 you did the same thing I did. I traded in an 07 Caliber with 26,000 Km (About 17,000 Mi) for a Journey. I really liked the Caliber too but once I took a test drive in the Journey there was no turning back. I had to have it! I'm surprised a young 19 year old would be interested in a Journey. Most of the young guys around here are driving sport cars or souped up Hondas, Madzas, etc.but good on you for making a sensible choice because the Journey has all the safety equipment you can think of plus it has a 5 star front and side impact rating plus 4 star roll over rating. Welcome and good luck. Keith
  5. Just received vehicle on 16 May. above is now corrected. Keith
  6. Sorry to hear about all your troubles with the order. I think the dealer has a lot of explaining to do. There has to be more to this story than what they are telling you. I would complain direct to Chrysler. I know you will not be happy with another vehicle since you've been looking forward to this one so much. I believe something something happened to the Journey en route like stolen, destroyed, etc. If it did why not just tell you. By the way my Journey pops up on that site you sent. Keith
  7. They really gave my Journey a heavy undercoating this time. The salesman wanted to know if I paid extra but I didn't. Luck of the draw I guess. It will be sticky for a while. Keith
  8. mkaresh, I'm already on your form with the Caliber but I will switch vehicles as soon as I receive the next notice. Keith
  9. Mine was excellant in the rain yesterday and it handled the road as if it was dry with no noticable difference. I bet it will be good in the snow but I hope that trial doesn't come until at least January. Keith
  10. Hi radon, My 5-seat SXT AWD came with the cover which I promply removed and stored in garage. To me it's a nuisance for everyday use but I may use it to hide the suitcases, etc. if we go on a trip. Keith
  11. Congrads crepead! The wait is long but worth it in the end. I'm trying to figure out why Chrysler is not increasing production since it looks like they have a hit on their hands. I even hear of people getting offered more money than they paid after receiving their Journey. What's up with that? Maybe they are playing some kind of game like "Keep it scarse and people will buy more". Who knows? Maybe someone has some insight into this! Keith
  12. Welcome Dudeman042! We love ours as well! Had it out in the rain yesterday and it held the road like it was on rails. Part of the break-in recommendations is to go full throttle for short periods a few times which I did in a couple of open areas where no bears were hiding. The speed jumped to 150 Km before I knew what was happening and held the road just as good as at the regular speed. I'm impressed! Have fun with yours. Snow_ Runner the wait is almost over but it will be worth it. Keith
  13. After using the camera a few times I agree with radon360. You can only see about 20 feet behind the vehicle but when the object looks close in the camera it is close for real. It works great for backing into a parking spot because you can really tell when you're close enought to the other vehicle or object. It's a great additional safety device but doesn't replace your mirrors. It's designed to detect lower objects behind the vehicle that you wouldn't otherwise see and it works great for that but I have changed my mind as to needing it any other time mostly due to the angle of the camera. Keith
  14. I just picked my up on Friday. No squeaks! Really quiet! Only had a chance to drive it yesterday and I love it so far. Squeaks are not uncommon in a new car but the dealer should be able to fix it without any problems. Good Luck! Keith
  15. dencord123, I believe it has a lot to do with where you live; USA or Canada. There is a fixed number of Journeys aloted to the US and a lesser number aloted to Canada and this has nothing to do with the economy, etc. In the present economic situation Canada is fearing slightly better than the US and people are buying app the same number of vehicles per capita as last year. The US citizens on the other hand are buying less. With the same number of vehicles aloted to the US as before makes the wait much shorter in the US (About 1 month) than Canada (About 2 months). That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Good luck with yours. Keith
  16. Hello Legers and welcome to the Form, I would go back and talk to the dealer. I received my VIN when it went into the schedule to be built which was about two or three weeks before the build date and I believe that is the experience of most other members of the form. When you receive your VIN it enables you to get a firm quote for insurance, etc. Ask your Dealer " How come everyone else gets the VIN before the build date except you" and bring the existance of this form to his attention. I find you can gain a lot of information from these forms including good dealers and not so good. Good Luck with your new Journey whenever it arrives. Keith
  17. Thats great Rick, I thought it would be a close race since our VINs are so close. Oh Well, by next week there will be 2 more Journeys on the highways of the Ottawa Valley. Maybe by then we will start seeing a few more. Make sure you keep close tabs on it from the time it arrives at the lot. I snaped some pictures right away like Rob indicated and now I have them on my computer. Digital Cameras are wonderful! My Journey gets rust proved tonight and delivery is tomorrow at 1:30. Good Luck, Keith
  18. Got the call tonight. Delivery will be Friday afternoon. Had a meeting tonight so I went down to the dealer after they had closed. The doors were unlocked and back window was down an inch and a half. I couldn't put the window up but was able to lock the doors with the electric lock. Yes a light rain was falling! I will talk to the dealer in the morning if you know what I mean. Took away some of the excitement for sure. 2 other Jouneys were there (All Sold) and locked up solid. Come on Friday! Keith
  19. Square Top, I'm not sure where you live since you didn't fill that information in on your profil but in Ontario we have a two week "cooling off period" and that vehicle would be coolin of in the dealers parking lot. I read your problems this way if they are in fact true: 1. The vehicle was not PDI'd - The PDI is paid for by Chrysler (Over $600) in Ontario which includes installation of mats, hubcaps, etc, fluids topped up, cleaned inside and out and safety checked. 2. Until this is done the vehicle should not be picked up. Why was it? 3. If you noticed that the braking action did not turn of the cruise - that is a safety issue and the vehicle should have been returned to the dealer right away. 4. The standard warranty does not include a courtesy vehicle but I would demand my trade-in (If you had one) back until all problems were rectified with the new vehicle. Most dealers would provide one anyway! 5. If this is all true name the dealer and location so it doesn't happen to other people. I would! Call roadside assistance which covered under warranty. Have it towed to dealer. Ask for a loaner if one is refused then rent one and give them the bill. Get a lawyor if necessary. Keep copies of all your paper work and lists of people you talked to (As others have said) and keep us informed. Keith
  20. Hi Rob, It's good to have a tire expert on the form. Have you figured out the correct tire pressure to run in the Journey SXT with 19" wheels? I was thinking of running about 34 Pounds which is what I run in my Grand Caravan and for the last two years they have been filled with nitrogen instead of plain air. I have been thinking of doing the same with the Journey when and if I ever get it. What do you think? Hope your wait is getting shorter! Keith
  21. Hi Jay, I'm waiting for a five seater as well. The one I test drove had the extra seat which is the main reason that I did'nt buy it. It seems that most dealer are ordering in the seven seaters. Keith
  22. Hi Rick, Let us know how you make out. I'm always interested in saving a dollar or two. Keith
  23. Welcome Katz, I'm glad to hear that you're happy with the new Journey and especially happy that you were able to get one. Some of us have been waiting for a bit. Be nice to Rob in Alberta (Hit-By-Thunder) because he has been waiting two months and counting now. To say he's getting a little ansty would be an understatement but I think he read the manual front to back and is a good source of information on the radio and nav system. I would not worry too much about first year models because I believe it's just an Old Wifes Tale. It might have been true 40 years ago but not any more. Most new vehicles arriving on the showroom floor today have been tested and tested some more before it ever hits the street. Quality Control is very, very important to car manufacturers today and no one wants to put another lemon on the street. I bought a new 07 Caliber 14 months ago which was a brand new car line for Chrysler and it has been great. I had two minor issues. The software for the computer which controls the fuel injection system required an upgrade which was done during an oil change. One tie rod end was a little too loose which again was changed during an oil change. Hell I would keep the little car because it's great on gas with that CV Transmission and fun to drive except I took a SXT AWD Journey for a test drive and I had to have it. WARNING TO EVERYONE "Do not even think about a test drive if you're not in the market for a new vehicle". Again welcome to the form and come back often. Bye the way it's nice to know where people are posting from. As you can see, I live in Ottawa, Ontario and just because it happens to be the nations capital I have nothing to do with any government policies or decisions. I'm just one of the citizens that happens to have a job here. Hell, one of my sons lives in Clinton, TN Keith
  24. You'er right Snow Runner. My 02 Grand Caravan was undercoated when new and that's it for the life of the vehicle. It's a little costly but when you consider the cost of oil spray year after year than it becomes a bargain. I also know it works! My Journey will be undercoated before it leaves the dealers lot! Keith
  25. $1.21 A liter in Eastern Ontario. My next 2nd vehicle will be Electric. Keith
