  1. That air dam on the front bumper is standard here (UK) and probably the rest of Europe too. I didn't know you don't have them in the US.
  2. That's right. For years over here in Europe (at least) there has been buttons inside the car to adjust the headlights down as you load up the boot (trunk) with luggage or passengers in the back. Obviously as you load up the rear of the car the front end comes up so the headlight aim switch operates small motors in the headlights that adjust the beam down, so you don't dazzle people comming the other way. To be honest I don't know of anyone who actually uses this functon it always seemed a pointless to me. The first car I knew that had this was a 1976 Renault 16 (Google it -it's French!). But instead of electrically operated motors there was a knob that you turned and the headlamps went up and down via cables. Anyway it's there in my Journey but is't 66% not working!
  3. Mines the same (UK 2009 R/T 2.0 Diesel) Anyone else out there got this? Check your switch, do your light move and do your motors make sound on all three settings? Mine only works between position '1-2'. '0-1' and '2-3' there is nothing.
  4. I've driven this car at over 100mph and never noticed any shimmying with front and rear mudflaps fitted.
  5. Rear brakes do most of the stopping? First time I've ever heard that one! I think your dealer is talking out of the hole where the sun don't shine! My 2009 R/T always had much more brake dust on the front than the rear wheels. Back in July I had the front pads and discs changed (friction linings, rotors in US language!) I had original Mopar parts fitted and the front brakes are much better at keeping the dust down. Whereas I was having to clean the wheels about every 100 miles or so now the fronts show almost no dust at all. The rear brakes however still have the same amount of dust as they ever did and now comparing to the front it's alot. My guess is your car has the new type of pads on the front (less dust) an the original type pads on the back (more dust). I don't know if new rear pads have been superceeded by a different material like the front to cause less dust but when they are due for replacement they might be. In the meantime keep your bucket and sponge handy!
  6. Yeah like how many Toyotas got recalled over the last couple of years? I'm going to look for a forum about cheese. I'm then going to tell everyone that I don't like edam and I'm going back to cheddar -or Brie. Ridiculous isn't it.
  7. And that's the same moan copied and pasted from another thread. Yawn ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Sounds to me that you dealer is more crap than your car.
  8. The other alternative is for someone with a new Journey can get together with someone with an older one and have a swap to see if they're interchangeable.
  9. Regarding black oil on a black dipstick, I painted the end of mine white now the level shows up clearly.
  10. Nope,I have the CRD R/T and have just done a 1600 mile roundtrip from just north of London to the Dordogne in France and back. Car perfect. Will keep an eye out for leaks just in case.
  11. Hi, Regarding your engine light I just replied in your other thread about servicing. It looks like another member on this forum has told you to put the wrong oil in your engine to save a few quid, it will make a difference. That's great mileage you've had! Cheers!
  12. We too have the Journey R/T Diesel Auto and have done 19,000 miles in it. A word about oil. The dealer isn't giving you BS about the low ash oil. If you put any other oil other than fully synthetic low ash oil to VW 507.00 specification you will sooner or later wreck the Diesel Particle Filter. This DPF needs to regenerate itself on a regular basis. This is done by the vehicle being driven at fairly high speed to get the exhaust system hot to burn off the residue in the DPF. Frequent short trips will start to clog this up as the car isn't getting hot enough to burn it off. Should you want to save a few £'s by putting the wrong oil in will permanently damage your DPF and it will need changing at your cost as it won't be covered under warranty, somewhere in the region of £1000 I'm told. If your engine light is on and the fault code comes up as 'Particle Filter' maybe the damage is already done. I'd get the oil and filter changed straight away. There is such a thing a special oil but in our case it doesn't have to be from a Chrysler dealer, all major manufacturers do it (Castrol, Shell, Fuchs etc) but as aleady said it MUST say Low Ash to VW 507.00 on the label. I think the Getrag dual clutch gearbox is great. Fantastically smooth changes. This too has special oil it's Castrol BOT 341 but unlike the engine oil you can't get it everywhere. I had a problem a couple of months ago with a tiny oil leak from the gearbox, long story short the dealer couldn't get the oil so I made a number of calls to Castrol, Petronas, Dodge UK and couldn't get very far. In the end I e-mailed Getrag in Germany, here's my e-mail to them; Dear Henning Von Watzdorf, I have a problem that I hope you can help me with. I live in the UK. I own a 2009 Dodge Journey R/T 2.0 Diesel with the Getrag MPS6 6 Speed Dual Clutch Transmission. Currently my car is in my local Dodge main dealer with a slight transmission leak whereby some of the seals have failed. The seals have been replaced and my garage is finding it impossible to obtain the correct oil to refill the transmission. The oil needed according to the owners manual is Castrol BOT 341. This oil cannot be ordered through UK Chrysler Dodge because now Chrysler is part owned by FIAT they won't supply oils and lubricants. Instead FIAT UK told my dealer the oil has to come from an independant supplier Petronas here in the UK and it will take 5 working days for it to be delivered. I am planning on taking my car on holiday on May 28th to Scotland (500 miles away) and therefore need to get my car back on the road as soon as possible. My dealer tells me thay only need about 1 litre of this oil. I have since spoken with Petronas and they confirm that Chrysler Dodge lubricant orders go through them but they are waiting for stocks of all oils to come in so 5 working days for delivery to my Dodge dealer seems unrealistic. I have also spoken to the technical department at Castrol UK and they tell me I have to go through my main dealer. I explained all the problems and they then suggested that perhaps the Getrag DCT 250 transmissions used in a number of Ford and Volvo cars could use the same oil in their transmissions as mine. It appears that Ford Motorcraft market an oil for use in DCT transmissions and this may be an option. My question to you as the manufacturer is, do the MPS6 (wet clutch?) transmissions share the same oil as the DCT 250 (dry clutch?) transmissions? Their answer back confirmed what I thought and that is Ford use a similar gearbox and the oil is available from Ford dealers, if not on the shelf it takes a day or two. Here's Getrag's reply; As you've mentioned already – the same MPS6 transmission / spare parts are also used at Ford. The easiest way to solve the problem is to buy the oil at a Ford dealer (should be on stock). Powershift Transmission Fluid BOT 341 from BP Castrol 5l à Spare Part No. 6U7J-M2C936-BA / Finis 1490761 1l à Spare Part No. 6U7J-M2C936-AA / Finis 1490763 Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards The part numbers are the 1490761, 1490763 numbers. Brakes; I just had my front pads and discs changed as they were about worn out. Luckily a Dodge dealer who had given up the franchise had a set of pads on E-bay for £40. I did buy genuine discs though. So far the brakes seem better and there is alot less brake dust, so maybe they have made improvements. With the old pads I had to clean the wheels about every two days, now it's about 10-14 days. Armrest; You do know it slides back and forward? I always drive with it forward and and resting my arm on it is fine. New Diesel engine? Dodge as a seperate brand has pulled out of the UK now so sadly no new Journey's. Even if they did continue to bring them in they wouldn't be fitted with a Merc or different VW engine. Now that Fiat controls Chrysler thay have put two versions of their diesel engines into what they call the Fiat Freemont (re badged 2011 Journey) that is just starting to be sold in Europe. Apparantly we in the UK arn't getting them (at least not yet). I hear production of the 'Freemont' needs to be stepped up in Mexico up as more people in Europe are placing orders than cars available. The Italian national football team are using the Freemont so at least the profile of the car has increased there -something that never happened here in the UK! Tyres; There have been many posts about this subject and it looks like 235/55/19 is the way to go. Out of curiosity have you had uneven tyre wear? I noticed my rear left tyre was wearing more on the outer edge than the other three. I mentioned this to my dealer and they told me (I'm not sure on this) but there's no adjustment on the rear suspenson and that they had seen this wear on this particular wheel before -maybe we have too many roundabouts here and the back tyre is scuffing? How's yours? I'm going to keep rotating the tyes so they wear out together and then replace the lot as we can't get the proper size. I hope this info helps. Do you get alot of people looking at your Journey? We do, I think I've only seen a handfull on our roads. Cheers!
  13. Look where the tail light meets the bumper at the rear of the car. On our one the bumper sticks out about 1cm towards the tailgate side. The bumper on the left of the car is almost a flush fit with the lamp. Compare both sides and you'll see what I mean. Then again yours might be okay so nothing to worry about. Cheers!
  14. Here's mine. And yes, it really is easy to do it yourself!
  15. That seems an expensive way of using the ipod in the car. I bought a cable with car charger built in for about £5 and just use the 'shuffle' mode for variation.
