  1. White smoke would indicate burning coolant. I think you had better call the dealer about that one!
  2. The battery is right here!!!!! http://img201.imageshack.us/i/dscf4654o.jpg/ OUCH!
  3. I haven't locked keys/fob in a vehicle since 1993, when I got my first vehicle with a fob. I ONLY lock the doors with the fob, NEVER with the inside button. This habit has saved me a great deal of inconvenience!! Before that, I had actually become an expert at breaking in to my 82 Olds!!
  4. If you have nav built in ot a portable nav, just compare to that... They should be quite accurate.
  5. About 10 years ago, I ran over a big chunk of wood on the highway. My sidewall looked very similar. Looks VERY close to blowing out. My advice is to get a new tire... Quick...
  6. I think the Uconnect update would fix that. I don't know how to link to another post, so search "update shuffle" and find the post that I started. The link in that post will explain how to download and install an update that also fixes the browse function. Perry
  7. It is something that everyone is having... The transmission seems very slow to downshift. I hope that they fix it with a different transmission program in the future, but I doubt it. I think they programmed it this way to get better mileage. it can be overcome by manually downshifting slightly before a hill. I shift to 5th before a small incline or 4th as I'm coming to a larger hill on the highway. Perry
  8. I sure will. All of the dents on the doors and quarter panels shouldn't be much of a problem for them, but there are a couple of them on body lines that I am going to inspect VERY closely before I sign off on this job!! Perry
  9. Does anyone have any experience with having "paintless dent repair" done to their vehicle? I have a couple of dents from the hail storm that the insurance adjuster says can be fixed by PDR, but I dont beleive him...
  10. It's only STUFF!! We are still healthy, and will have a good story to tell in the future... Perry
  11. So... My family and I were camping for the last 11 days... We were on our way to my Fathers lake house last friday, when my wife commented on how nice our trip had been so far..... BING... Low Tire Pressure warning. CRAP... stopped at a gas station and filled air enough to make it to the Lake. We put a tire plug in and it seemed to hold pretty well. During a conversation we mentioned how BEAUTIFUL the weather had been during our camping trip.... BANG... Sunday night, a HUGE hail storm hit the lake.. My 2 month old Journey is dented on nearly every panel.. Some of the stones were the size of baseballs. Wind knocked down several large trees. Driving home today (monday) we make it half way on the plugged tire when I decide to explain to my kids that even though the damage was a stroke of bad luck, we are a very lucky family because we are all healthy and no one was hurt during the storm and BING.... Low pressure warning... The plug pushed out... flat tire.. changing to spare in an abandoned farmyard!!! I think I will stop counting my blessings now!!!!
  12. I was able to weld a few beads down 2 sides and grind them until it fit nice and tight... Shouldn't have to!!!
  13. Every thing that I have read states 3500 lbs with tow package. The weight on the pin isn't the big problem, as the tongue weight should only be 350 lbs. My biggest problem is that i can't wire in the brake controller which you NEED if the trailer is over 2000 lbs ( law in my province.) Can't get a signal wire from the brake pedal and am told that because everything is controlled by modules, I cannot do it!!??
  14. I have had a few vehicles that are like that. I find that with the Journey, I only insert the nozzle about 2/3 of the way.
  15. I completely agree that the oem hitch is a piece of crap.... but... I prefer the look of it to ones that protrude horizontally under the fascia. I welded beads (lines) on my hitch and ground them down until it fit tight. Not an option if you don't have a welder, but it works. Perry
  16. WOW!!! Awesome airbrushing.. Love it!!
  17. As per Chrysler Communications on Facebook there is an update available for Uconnect... If you have a 2011 Chrysler 300, Dodge Journey or Dodge Charger with Uconnect Touch 8.4N (sales code RB5) or Uconnect Touch 8.4 (sales code RE2), the radio might be eligible for a FREE software upgrade: adds the ability to browse songs, use existing playlists & use the shuffle feature when certain Apple products are connected via the remote USB. You'll need the final 8 digits of your VIN to see if you qualify. https://qna.extra.chrysler.com/rhb/uConnectTouchPlaylistRadioUpdate.do
  18. AWD 3.6L... Just got back from 1200 KM highway trip... Can't lay off the pedal long enough to get decent fuel economy!!! Love the power.. Can't beleive I didn't get a ticket!! Average 125Km/H... put the hammer down hard on every pass... 11.7 L/100Km.. Last 400Km, I slowed to 110 and didn't do much passing, the average for the trip came down to 10.9 L/100Km.. Not really too bad, considering my driving habits!
  19. Did anyone notice that bluetooth and voice command are standard on the 8.4n??? Hope this is correct and not another mistake to cause 2012 customers to be missing these features.
  20. Even if these wires existed somewhere else, they maybe too small to handle the load of charging the battery in the trailer. I just ran a wire direct from the battery to the back. Be sure to install a 20 amp breaker inline and use 10 or 12 gauge wire to handle the current. Have Fun Perry
  21. So, today I ran all of the wires to install my brake control in my 2011 Journey. When it came to the brake signal wire, I had a problem. The normal way of hooking this wire up would be to find the wire at the brake pedal that supplies 12 volts when the brake is pushed. My test light was not showing any such wire, so I pulled out the multi-meter. The only wire that changes when I push on the pedal is the middle one (of 3) but it only changes from 1v with no pedal to 2v when pedal is pushed. This will not operate a brake control....... Does anyone know a different place to get signal from? Anyone know a Dodge mechanic who will share this info? Thanks Perry

I think the 245 is 20 mm wider than the stock 225. That may be cause some rubbing.
  23. You are going to LOVE it... We have had new cars in the past, but they were all base models (cheap.) This was our first vehicle that we went for all the options. It is awesome Good Luck! Perry
