  1. Only upgrades I have done is a K&N air filter with an intake tube from rpm motorsports. I have some better throttle response and slightly better MPG. Looking to get some high performance ignition coils and iridium spark plugs in the spring.

    Hydrosilex

Just wondering if anyone out there has tried these ceramic coatings like Hydrosilex. If so what are your opinions on this?
  3. Looking at getting mine done today. Let you know if I notice anything different.
  4. I have ordered one of these intake resonator delete tubes for myself from RPM Motorsports to found out if there really is any type of gain considering some folks say there is a gain. I will be doing a MPG comparision before and after to see what the difference might be. Worse case I will sell it to the nest guy who owns a Journey! LOL
  5. I have a 2015 blacktop edition and the recall was done on mine but the recall was for the long line that acts as the power steering cooler that goes all the way to the front of the car. I've recently had another power steering issue and it was because the shorter line going towards the rack and pinion let go and ended up getting it replaced under warranty at 42000km. It seems that line also let go at the crimp where the rubber line changes to the rigid metal line. This let go on a cold winter morning just as the other did for the recall. Something for all of you to be aware of. ee
  6. Since the battery was changed long ago I'm happy to say the car starts with the remote start without being plugged in fine even in temperatures as low as -30! I think Interstate batteries work great. I even have one in my work truck which is a Ford E-150 and it starts great in the cold.
  7. I've had the same intermittent issue when coming to a stop and reversing. I have an appointment at my local dealership and the service manager mentioned about a possible software update for the transmission computer. This could be the same TSB 18-008-13 I hope. I will post the results.
  8. Just wondering if anyone out there knows how to retrieve OBD2 engines codes on a 2015 Journey without a scanner tool. I know the older Dodge and Chrysler vehicles had a procedure where you would turn the ignition key from off to on position three times and the code would show up on the odometer.
  9. Well I took my 2015 Journey to the dealership and they ran a bunch of diagnostic tests to find out that my battery had a bad cell so they replaced it with an Interstate battery instead of a Mopar unit. When I asked them why all the test when a good battery load tester would find the same problem they told me that they needed to run these test in order to validate the battery change under warranty and to be sure nothing else in the car was draining the battery. They even have to provide a print out from the diagnostics machine to head office. All that just for a battery change! The tech also told me the only OBD2 code they found was a battery low voltage code.
  10. I have a 2015 SXT Blacktop and have experienced the same issue with the battery dying. Taking it to the dealer tomorrow. I will post what the dealer has done after the appointment.
  11. Thanks for the link. I was able to see my car has a recall for a power steering line.
  12. My parents have studded tires for their Charger and the studs do help on ice. Tried their car out myself and there is a difference when it comes to icy conditions. Studded tires are only allowed in Ontario if you live in northern Ontario. I believe its everything north of the Parry Sound area.
  13. Just wondering if anybody out there has had a set of winter tires from Sailun. The tires I picked up are the Sailun WST1 winter tires for my 2015 journey. They are 225 65R 17. Just looking for some feedback as for their performance. I will be getting them studded to provide extra grip for my wife since she drives the vehicle to and from work mostly.
  14. I use to own a 2010 Journey SXT with 17" rims and had 16" rims with snow tires for winter. Now I have a 2015 Journey Blacktop with 19" rims just wondering if my older 16" winter rims will fit on my newer 2015 journey?? As far as I can tell The 16" rims might not fit being that my 2015 has dual piston front calipers on it. Let me know what you all think. Thanks

I recently traded in my 2010 Journey SXT for a 2015 Journey Blacktop with only 237km on it (demo unit). Love the upgraded interior and engine. Lots of power from the 3.6 VVT compared to the 3.5L and the total handling of the vehicle is much better than my 2010. My real question is that I received a recall notice about my 2010 witch was traded in about the steering issues in regards to the power steering hose and fluid cooler. Being that this applies to all models from 2009 to 2016 I believe this recall should be applied to my 2015 also. The 2015 Journey was purchased because it was still new on the lot and was given a major price cut!! ( win for me ). Let me know what you all think. Thanks.

    Checking Out

Looking to trade in my 2010 sxt for a 2015 sxt new with only 500km off the dealer. let me know what you think.
  17. I have had some intermittent starting issues with my 2010 and after changing the battery 2 months ago I started having the same issues again. I checked the battery connections and others for corrosion and used a load tester on the battery. The battery was fine. I even had on one occasion at home ended up boosting the vehicle with my boat battery but yet would turn over very slowly. That's when I knew it was the starter. Replacing the starter is quite the task!! After disconnecting the battery I proceeded to remove the main bolt from the front engine mount (near the radiator) and continued on by removing the cross member going under the engine. Don't worry the engine will not fall down on you! LOL.. The remainder of the engine mount had to be removed off the engine in order to make room for the starter to be unbolted and removed. Installation is the reverse of course. I would suggest not doing this when black flies are out in spring!! I'm really gonna hate doing the water pump and timing belt on this thing! LOL
  18. I have a 2010 SXT with the 3.5 v6. I recently did a spark plug change that required the removal of the air intake that I performed myself easily. I have seen a dip stick tube that is capped for the transmission stating dealer service only in order for the mechanics to fill or check the fluid level. I would like to know if anyone has dropped the transmission pan and have this the fluid and filter change themselves. I would like to do the job myself considering I've done this before with my 2001 Caravan and my 1994 Spirit. Wondering how you may have gone about this? Thanks
  19. 1-7/8 is an old size. Any trailer you can buy today is a minimum of 2" inches here in Canada.
  20. I have a 2010 Journey and the power steering fluid in it is actually ATF4. Transmission fluid go figure?? Noise in the cold is very common for any vehicle. My work truck which is a 2010 ford E-150 likes to whine in the cold too! It was -35C this morning where I live in Ontario, Canada. Because of these cold temps I always run synthetic oil because it flows better in these cold temperatures. I wish there was a synthetic power steering fluid I could find to try and lower the noise and wear in the colder weather.
  21. I get a similar noise from the front when applying the brakes to stop and then when I release them and start rolling again. I thought it might be the brakes so I am going to service the brakes by taking them apart and cleaning everything. Its something to try while I take the time to swap my wheels for the winter tires. I hope it cures the problem.
  22. My 2010 SXT had a check engine light come up. I turn the key on and off 3 times and the trouble code showed up on the odometer as P0406. I googled it and it's saying its an EGR signal code. My friend Carl who works at the local Chrysler dealer told me to go get the part at NAPA and change it myself. All I had to do was remove the top air filter assembly and the intake tube to the throttle body. This allowed me more room to get to the valve. Only tools I needed to remove it was a 10mm and 8mm socket wrenches. I removed the exhaust tube from the old valve with a 5/16th wrench and installed it on the new valve. All bolts removed were coated with anti-seize compound for re-assembly. I put everything back together and it was working great. I should mention that I disconnected the battery before starting the work and reconnected after I was done. Doing so ensures that the trouble code is reset from the engine computer.
  23. I myself have been using a no drip oil spray type product from Dominion Sure Seal LTD. The only thing about this along with any undercoating is to make sure it is only used on metal surfaces only. I found out the rear hatch on the journey is made of a composite material similar to fiberglass. Therefore do not undercoat the plastic bumper covers front and rear and the rear hatch. These materials could react with the solvents or oils use in rust- proofing products.
  24. Well my wife was driving to Parry Sound along Hwy 69 and got to an evic number of 8.2L/100km. The only thing I've done is install a K&N air filter and running synthetic oil since the 3.5 v6 turn over 28000Km. No complaints here considering she was driving about 105Km/H.
