  1. Welcome from me as well, even though I am a newcomer here myself. We bought a Dodge Journey R/T AWD 2012 as well. We are currently having an issue with it, but we hope that the dealership will be able to fix it for us. We really love the vehicle. Best of luck with your vehicle! It is so cool and excellent to be able to converse with other Journey owners. Whoever started this site deserves a Sainthood. So do those who look after it. Thanks to all of you. mechanical-idiot
  2. Recall on steering wheel wiring harness is complete. That gives us some peace of mind. Everything on the suspension has checked out okay - struts, links, sway bar etc. The dealership has asked to keep the vehicle overnight and tomorrow to see if they can replicate the problem. They realize that the vehicle does have a problem, they just want the technician to experience it first hand. I told them that I was happy that they were interested in solving the issue for us. The vehicle worked perfect for the technician today (just my luck). It is intermittent. It does it one day, then doesn't do it for 2 or 3 days, then does it again .......... I will let you know what they find. Hopefully we can get it fixed. Thank you Julie (and other responders) for you assistance. We love our Dodge Journey and we really want it fixed properly. I hope that they find the issue. It is probably just a matter of time now. So, ...............we wait. mechanical-idiot
  3. I forgot to add that the Service Guy looked up the VIN and told me that a recall on the steering wheel wiring harness was never done on our vehicle. I thought that it was pretty good for him to do that, as they get paid a fraction of the cost per hour for doing recall stuff compared to normal garage work. He could have just ignored it, but they seem very interested in fixing the vehicle for us. mechanical-idiot
  4. So, it started knocking again today. +2 Celcius. I immediately went to the Dodge dealer. The Service and Parts Advisor took it for a drive and he immediately said that he could hear and feel it. He said it wasn't something normal. I have made an appointment for the morning to have it put on a hoist etc. The Transmission, drivetrain guy is going to take a look at it. He was thinking transmission. I spoke to a mechanic and he said that it was likely not the transmission, but more than likely a differential/transfer case issue, but he was totally unfamiliar with Dodge vehicles. I will keep you posted. I pray to God that it is not something expensive. mechanical-idiot
  5. Another day of testing with no results. Not sure if this is good or not. Could it have been ice? Perhaps it is a mechanical problem and the cold is keeping it from happening? Perhaps it will start again when it gets warmer? I will keep you posted. mechanical-idiot
  6. 164136 KM 102006 Miles Weirdest f'n thing. Today we don't hear a thing. It is not doing it. It did it for the last 2 days, but not today. It was above the freezing point (5 or more degrees Celcius or 41 F) for the past two days. Today it is about 10 degrees below Celcius (14 Fahrenheit), but that shouldn't make any difference should it? We tried and tried over and over to get it to do it, but it refused to cooperate today. We went on the same route, same stops and turns, but nothing. I am glad that I didn't take it to the dealer this morning. I was going to, but I was just so tired. If I had taken it there this morning and it didn't do it...... well you know. If it does it again, I will let you know and I will drop in to a place that does wheel alignments and suspension jobs here in town. The guy has an excellent reputation and he is a good person. He has done work for us before. My dodge buddy thinks it is a strut problem (strut mount), but he is not a mechanic, just a big Dodge fan. It could be the flux capacitor for all I know, so all your helpful suggestions are welcome. I will let you know if it starts doing it again. Thank you everyone. Mechanical-idiot
  7. Hello everyone. I hope you are all well. So, yesterday a weird noise started when we were returning from a trip to another Canadian province. A weird REAR CLUNKING sound started in the back when we were starting off from stops. It does it on left or right turns. I don't know if it does it on straight starts, but I think it does, but not always. I can feel the clunk, if that makes sense. It's as if someone is hitting the bottom of the floor near the back tires with a hammer. It is a thud. 2012 Journey RT AWD Any ideas? I am really worried about it. Thanks mechanical-idiot
  8. Thanks jkeaton. I appreciate the help. Hope you have a great day. mechanical-idiot
  9. Neat salvage site for damaged vehicles. https://www.autobidmaster.com/en/carfinder-online-auto-auctions/?q=journey Lots of Dodge Journey vehicles on there from all over. Hope this helps somebody out! mechanical-idiot
  10. So, my question is: If you were driving that amphibious Dodge car on the freeway and the police pulled you over, would you give him/her your driver's license, your boating license, or your fishing license when he/she asked for your license? Just wondering. mechanical-idiot
  11. This must be the Dodge Journey Amphibious Prototype:
  12. Check out this video of the amphibious car with a Dodge front end. Pretty cool. Imagine yourself out fishing or sitting on a boat, having had a few too many beers, and suddenly a Dodge car starts driving toward you - on top of the lake. Time for a bottle of kaopectate.
  13. Yeah, that is pretty cool. It is actually quite amazing how good it looks. If any of you guys decide to plug in the grinder tonight, please take before, during and after photos to keep everyone here entertained. One of the body shops near where I live cut a car in two and put the front of one vehicle on the back of the other. They were the same make and model, one with front damage and one with rear accident damage. They made one car out of the two damaged ones. Unfortunately, the guy who bought it decided to go to Montreal, and on his way thru the middle of New Brunswick (a place often referred to a nowhere) the car broke in two and he was left stranded with the old wreck in the middle of the night. I wouldn't want to be in that Limo if it cracks in two! mechanical-idiot
  14. They are brand new, never used, still in the original boxes. I think I will get Wagner ceramic pads for them. Unless someone can suggest something else that would work better. I don't know shit from grease about vehicles. All suggestions are welcome.
  15. I wonder if this one has the smaller calipers and rotors or the bigger ones? HUMMMMMMM........................... and how many miles between brake jobs?????
  16. And here is the outside. Great job on it, but I like the lenght of the original just fine. mechanical-idiot
  17. Here is the inside of one of them. It is better than my basement! I could live in this thing! Sorry for the bad image quality. I downloaded it from the net. mechanical-idiot
  18. I just googled "Dodge Journey Limo" and found a few hits under images. Just when you think you have seen it all, somebody has enough time on their hands to do something like this. Great for a party. So, when OHareFred or jkeaton want to set up a party or a fishing trip for the boys and girls on the forum, we will have to make sure we rent one of these. Bitch to parallel park I would think! http://www.raspar.com.br/carro/2015/07/29/dodge-journey-limousine-2012-com-rodas-aro-22-e-pneus-delinte
  19. Dropped into a junk store yesterday. I didn't expect to really find anything. I was just wasting some time. I found a set of brake rotors (new in boxes). Copied down the numbers and went home to the Internet. Pumped in the numbers, and BANG! They fit the front of my wife's Journey! So, I went back and offered him 65 bucks for them both. He wanted 40 each, but he took the deal. I also picked up a drivers side Bosch wiper for 6 bucks. Wipers sell for 26 bucks here and the rotors sell on Amazon Dot CA for about 73 bucks each. The brakes on her Journey are the single piston caliper type (older smaller brakes). What a lucky day! Thank you God! When getting the pads, should we get ceramic or metallic? I have no idea what the difference is or wether one is better than another. I hope some of my luck rubs off on you guys today. mechanical-idiot
  20. That's me in the center, just behind Bruce.
  21. I can't wait for the amphibious Dodge Journey! We went on the Harbor Hippos in Boston. What a fun time that was! A great family adventure. If you get a chance, do the tour..... and buy the amphibious Dodge Journey, Mr. Bond.
  22. Anybody ever see a stretched Journey (like a stretch limo)? A friend told me that he saw one in Western Canada. I have not seen one myself, but would love to see it. If you have any photos, send them in please! Oh, your wife might like a school bus. It can haul lots of rug rats!
  23.
