  1. So, the rear wiper quit working. Then it started working when backing up! So, I spoke to my Dodge maniac friend who said it was likely a wiring problem in the lift gate wiring harness. He came over and pried the rubber cover off the wiring harness and their was a broken wire and another wire that was bare (break in outer cover) in the wiring harness. Looks like there were lots of sparks in there because the wire covers were singed on several other wires. He fixed the problem for me with some solder, wire and shrink tube. Cost me a couple of beers, which I consider a pretty cheap fix compared to the 70 dollar an hour charge at the dealer. Thought I might let others know about this in case it is helpful to them. You people likely know about this, but I couldn't find it in a search of the form. Maybe I was not putting in the correct search criteria. In any event, I hope this helps somebody else out. mechanical-idiot. 2012 Journey
  2. I replaced the washers on the weekend, and it was as easy as can be. Idiot proof! Everything works like it should now. Still loving the Journey. We did a 770 Km trip with it this weekend, and I want to turn around and do it again! I need to get a travelling salesman job. I read somewhere on the forum where someone said that the Journey rides like it's on rails! They were correct. What a machine! Thanks Dodge! mechanical-idiot
  3. Only an idiot answers his own questions! I just spoke to my neighbor and he claims that part way through 2012, Dodge started putting the two red stripes on the front grille of the Journey. He says that some of them have it and some of them don't. I guess that it makes sense, if he is correct, which he might be since he is a huge Dodge fan. Mehchanical-idiot
  4. Just noticed that the grille badge on our 2012 Dodge Journey does not contain the two red stripes that everyone else seems to have on the far right. ?????? Perhaps the grille is an aftermarket replacement since we purchased it used????? Not the end of the world, but it leaves you wondering about it. Weird. Does anyone else have one like this? mechanical-idiot
  5. We have always owned GM and Ford vehicles until now. I have always wanted to own a Dodge after driving some of the newer Ram 1500 trucks. Man, they are nice. So, when our 2002 Ford Windstar died, we went looking for a Dodge Van, but ended up taking a Journey out for a test drive and we were instantly hooked. We have had it for a couple of weeks now and we love it. I hope the love affair lasts a long time. We are making excuses to drive more, so that is a good sign. We couldn't wait to get home when we were driving our Ford van. We are looking forward to going on a long trip with it in the spring. Glad to hear that you enjoy your Journey as well. They are a great looking vehicle and we love the feel and ride. mechanical-idiot
  6. So, I took some time today to open the engine bonnett and look at the hoses. One is broken off completely and the other is cracked and hanging on by a couple of threads. This is the problem! They worked fine until we had the vehicle undercoated. I suspect that the undercoater stuck his wand in these holes, since they are full of undercoating, and broke off the nozzles. I can't be bothered fighting with him about it since I have ordered two new ones and they seem easy to replace. I didn't get around to opening the bonnet until today because it has been -19 degrees celcius here etc for the past week. It went up to 0 celcius today (melting point), so I bravely sauntered out to the Journey to do my physical inspection. Unfortunately, we are now being hit with a weather bomb and getting up to 25 cm (3/4 of a foot) of blowing snow and 100km winds. Oh the joy of living in Canada! Hope all of you are well. Thanks for the help above. Mechanical-idiot
  7. Thanks for the information. I will have to book an appointment with the dealer. Great suggestions and information on what is causing the problem. Passenger seat is much warmer than the driver seat, but now I know that it can be fixed easily. Thanks. mechanical-idiot
  8. Thanks people. I will try to thaw them out and if that does not work, I will replace them as per your suggestions. I found a utube video that shows how to do it, and I think that even an idiot like me can do this. All the best. Mechanical-idiot
  9. 2012 Journey Driver washer not spraying, just running out and down engine bonnet. Passenger window washer sprays up about 4 or 5 inches only. Any suggestions? Happy New Year to one and all. Mechanical-idiot
  10. Three problems 2012 Journey: - Air in the rear second row behind the driver is not as powerful as the air on the other side. The side window remains frosted in cold weather. - Drivers side front window takes much longer to defrost than the rest of the window (two to four minutes). - Drivers seat is not near as hot as the passenger seat and both are set at the same setting Any suggestions would be appreciated. Happy New Year to all. Mechanical-idiot
