  1. So, after a week, if they continue to come up with no answers, they WILL take it to the dealer???????  These guys are pathetic!!!!!  Get it there yourself, and get it fixed properly.  If I were you, I would have a shit storm brewing in me, and it would explode at CarMax as a full category 5.

You need to contact somebody at the head office of CarMax and lodge a formal complaint.  This is totally unacceptable.  Tell them that you might go on a social media rant and rave.  You deserve better service than this.

  2. It never hurts to do preventive maintenance.  It is cheaper to change the transmission fluid than to change the transmission.  Go ahead and do it.

The coolant is extremely poisonous to animals.  Make sure that you do not have any of it on the driveway or garage floor.  Your pets love the taste of it.  Only problem is that it kills them.  It is also bad for children.  Be careful.  It is recyclable.  Just needs to be cleaned.  Any radiator repair shop will probably accept it.  If it was my vehicle, I would take it to a shop and have it flushed.  That way it cleans all the sludge out of the system.  Might as well get it done right and not have to worry about disposing of the material.

    Good luck.

  3. Our Viscous unit worked like a top when it was cold.  As soon as it started warming up, the clunking started.  Anywho...... I hope you have warranty because this is not a cheap fix.  I think it cost us about 1600 bucks Canadian to finally get it all debugged and fixed.  They have to replace some seals in addition to the unit and the labour was about 3 hours to replace the unit, I think.

Good luck.  Please let us know how you get along.

  4. Welcome.  You will find a lot of great people here who are willing to help others, but hopefully you will never need the help!  This is the part where you cross your fingers.

    Congrats on your purchase.

  5. Bonjour encore!

Well Fred, I am really glad that your warranty will cover this shit storm for you.  It is not fun being stressed by surprise vehicle expenses, especially a shitload like you have.

Please keep us posted about it.

This might be your big opportunity to learn French.  Just be happy that it isn't displaying Swahili or Gaelic.  As bad as things seem to be sometimes, it could always be worse.

I know a guy that went to the junkyard to get some parts for his car.  He parked out beside the main garage.  The pay loader driver thought his old shitbox was a junkyard gem and he put the forks through the doors and planted it in the junkyard.  There are days that I feel like parking our Journey in the same spot.

  6. Bonjour!

Labour for those problems is going to add up in a hurry.  I hope that they can fix it for him without going over the vehicle value, as it is probably worth a lot more to him than the book value.

In the meantime Fred, you might want to start taking some French lessons in case they can't repair the hands free system!

Bonne journée et bonne chance avec il.

  7. I found this site which might be helpful for those who are replacing bulbs.

    https://www.superbrightleds.com/vehicle/2012-dodge-journey-vehicle-led-lights?make=22&model=1023&year=2012

Nothing is cheap about the prices!

Just put in the year of your Journey at the top and happy hunting.  Then click on the bulb picture and it will provide you with the LED info on the replacement bulbs.

I have no affiliation with the site.

  8. I didn't replace my own.  I needed rear seals replaced, so I told them to throw the blend door actuator in while they were at it.

If you know where it is, you might as well throw it in.  You can buy them on ebay, but I think I would buy an OEM part from a dealer if I were you.

Ours quit, then started working again, then quit again.  It was under the dash on the passenger side.  Looks like you are in the right place.

  9. Just had same issue.  jkeaton is right on the money.  Blend door actuator on passenger side needs replacing.  I live in Canada.  Part and labor cost about 150 bucks to repair.  Common problem with all kinds of vehicles, not just Dodge.  Check to see if there is a video on Youtube about how to replace it.

  10. Holy shit Johnny,  it sounds like you actually built an entirely new car!  I wouldn't dare tackle that stuff myself, so good for you!  I am very glad that everything worked out for you.  That is a very nice looking Journey - and I love the color.

I hope it gives you miles and miles of trouble free service.

You deserve it for your patience and perseverance.
