  1. I'm a big fan of custom decals and I've had lots made thru a guy in Athens, Greece that turns any high quality jpeg image into premium acrylic domed decals. I usually debadge a car and then add my own touches for a unique look. Here's a pic of the Scat Pack Bee I had on my 2005 Dodge Magnum I also did similar decals on my 200S that I call "Sunrunner" as an homage to the Mopar Roadrunners of yore So I started playing with some images for my forthcoming Journey which I've decided to name "Roadhawk" Name badge Dodge Shield badge Might do a fender badge followed by a double pinstripe like this one on the Magnum But instead of a Bee I altered the logo to be Roadhawk Or maybe a design without the wheel Looking forward to making my Journey distinctively my own
  2. I installed SV-4 LEDs in my 200S in both fog and headlights. They came with pre-wired inline resistors so they were the plug-n-play type. The fogs are working perfectly and the headlight pattern looks great but they (headlights) are randomly winking off and on. Not in unison and only flicker for a second but its annoying. Any ideas? Thoughts? These were definitely not cheap bulbs.
  3. 5x5(5x127) Offset Range: 25 to 45 Wheel Size Range: 17X7.5 to 22 X 9 OEM Tire Size: 225/55-19(225X730 mm) 225/65-17(225X724 mm) Hub Diameter: 71.5 Thread Pitch: I'm thinking that -18 offset is gonna put that tire way outside the fender line (unless thats what you want) but it can also make serious rubbing issues, alignment headaches and quickly wear out wheel hubs. 12x1.50mm

    Tires

BigWheels.Net has a tires page where you can plug in any size and it will give you width and height in mm. You can also plug in make/model/year and get a list of recommended sizes for what ever wheel you're running. I use this site a lot for reference. Wheel-Size.com is another excellent site that will give you Plus One and Plus Two sizes. Any height difference will always affect speedo readout to a small degree but typically not enough to be concerned over.
  5. I'm really surprised to see these 255 wide tires mounted on 7" wide factory rims and look that good. I always thought (based on looking at so many wheel/tire guides) that 7" was too narrow for that much tire. Nothing speaks truth like right before your eyeballs! LOL The fatter tire really adds to the stance. Nice job!
  6. Looks like you could've gone with just the 1" spacer and been right on the fender line. Either way, making the stance wider really improved the look. Great job ! I hope they don't give you any problems. Keep us posted.
  7. I'm surprised a 255 fits on the factory 7" wide wheel but it looks good!
  8. I test drove a 2018 GT AWD yesterday and I do wish I was in the position to buy because I would've jumped on that baby. I would prefer another color to white, preferably black, red or the Granite metallic. I'm leaning into paying off my convertible, making payments and adding extra payments against my balance. Not sure exactly how fast I'll get it killed off but hopefully this coming year. @NavalLacrosse Your comments are dead-on sir, and the mpg you describe will be just peachy with me. I get only slightly better with my 200S but its just a hoot to drive with the intake and Magnaflows...which I plan on adding to the DJ in short order....along with slotted rotors, painted calipers and some fat rubber...maybe 20s but haven't decided on that yet. I was surprised the one I drove didn't have the flip-up passenger seat cushion with storage under? Did that get dropped? The rest of the nifty cubbies make up for it but I'd still like that. I think I will also have to try fabricating a hatch spoiler....we shall see!
  9. Looking good! Best of luck going forward.
  10. Its always good to see people give an older ride a good home. My wife says cars are happy to wind up in my driveway because they get loved, not just used. LOL
  11. The Blacktop pkg really adds some panache. Looking good! Welcome!

    Hi All

Glad you found us! Sounds like a nice DJ you picked up....pics are always cool!
  13. BTW, there are little to no mods made specifically for my 2013 200s either but the K&N Typhoon kit for the same year Dodge Avenger bolted right on with zero problems. I suspect that kit might work just as well for the Journey. Also modernmusclextreme.com carries larger TBs and ported intakes, along with tuning pkgs for the 3.6
  14. he item John/Horace mentioned are indeed worth 40hp. Higher compression alone can deliver that but the better flow from the valvetrain is huge. When I was younger, everyone wanted to throw a cam in their V8 for more power and that unique sound....plus is was certainly good for more ponies when the revs got higher up. The VVT delivers the best of both worlds with smooth operation, good torque and fuel mpg at low revs while the cam phasers upon up big flow above 3-4k rpm to pour on the power. My 3.6 with a K&N intake howls like a demon above 4k when its really breathing deep. As he also mentioned, getting big bumps from your 3.5 could be costly with forced induction being the fastest way to lots of extra muscle. The twin intakes and dual TBs on the 300 Special could add some but fitting it on a FWD set up could be tricky. A larger throttle body and a tune can really wake up a vehicle. I'd explore that route first. The Pacifica (previous to the minivan) used a 4.0 SOHC in a transverse application. Maybe a 4.0 block with better induction?
  15. Its always good to hear about a high miles vehicle finding a good home. So often they are bought for beaters and driven like throw-away towels. For many years while my kids were growing up, a Mopar minivan was a staple for our brood. It was truly the most versatile, utilitarian and easy on the wallet at the gas pump than so many other choices. We didn't do any towing so that was never a factor but we haul plenty of kids, band gear, crafts and home items than you could shake a stick at. Just one more reason I think I feel a kindred spirit when I drive a Journey. As far as the drivetrain, my 3.6 powered 200S is a hoot to drive and it still delivers great mpg despite my heavy foot. I'm sure the 3.6 AWD will be a bit less frugal but I'm prepared for that reality. Good luck with your DJ and long may she roll!
  16. Although I'm not an owner yet, the Journey shares a lot of components with my Chrysler 200S. All manner of reviews and journalists said the 200 was a woeful car, calling out its sloppy handling, sluggish trans and saying it was slow and overweight. Granted, the car isn't my daily driver but it has been anything but unreliable. Most of the replaced parts were due my mods and upgrades such as the brakes, exhaust and other suspension pieces. The car is a 2013 and now has almost 77k miles on it without any major or repeating breakdown at all. I suspect the same will be true of the Journey. Any car needs good maintenance and failures happen to any and all brands, even Hondas and Toyotas. I've had more failure and tow truck rides with the GM cars I've owned than any other brand so it will take a pretty bad example of the Journey to turn me sour. I look forward to defying odds and getting the same kind of pleasurable miles as I've gotten from my 200 or my Escape for that matter. With all the bang for the buck the Journey brings to the table, I'll happily make some mods to hopefully overcome any of the vehicle weak points. We have a couple of lengthy road trips in our future vacation plans and I'm factoring on my Journey being a big part of those adventures.
  17. So is the suspension for the R/T and the GT the same option pkg?
  18. Truth and real talk! But this isnt the only time I've run into this dilemma with Mopar parts. I would be nice if they were a bit more descriptive. The bad thing is if you call a dealer Part Dept most of those guys have no idea either. Oh for the Mopar parts Guru!! LOL
  19. I'm curious about the link posted by FROGBOX as there are quite a few springs listed as "Euro High Performance Springs"...thats a lot of part numbers for the same spring? How can you tell the difference?
  20. The last I read the new Dodge would have a more road oriented chassis based on the Stelvio platform but making way for the Hemi as an engine option. Article also said the car would borrow heavily from the Charger in styling cues so it fits the Dodge performance image better. Five passenger seating is planned (Yup, no third row) Not a bad rendering but I don't think it will have the body shape of the Stelvio despite sharing the chassis. One of my questions will be if the 3.6 will still be offered or will a turbo four be the step down from the Hemi? Dodge has a huge opportunity here to not only replace the Journey but tickle former Magnum owners back to the brand. The show car will be very interesting to see. I expect it may hit the shows late next year? Could just easily look like this but on a shorter scale, although I dont think they will be quite so blatant.
  21. Hello all from Southeastern VA, It's been a while since I was here last and once again I'm shopping for another vehicle. A couple other cars have been in the driveway since I was here before. I've always loved wagons and while my grand experience with a Journey SXT rental was certainly a strong influence, in the end I wound up with a Dodge Magnum instead. Unfortunately that proved to be a woeful choice. While Maggie was a lot of fun and was fantastic in her utility, the constant trips to the gas pump became tiresome. That kind of trade-off is fine if the car is a toy or second vehicle, but as a daily driver it got old in a hurry. Combine that with a never ending clunking of front end parts and I sent Maggie up the road. I then wound up with a 2.0 EcoBoost Escape, which has also been a great vehicle but a little less than stellar in the mpg dept. However, not to the point that I want to send it away. My wife's car on the other hand is reaching its cliff, so I'll be passing the Escape over to her. This left me on the hunt for another wagon, and these days those choices are extremely slim. The Buick TourX has some nice attributes but is already out of production and I'm not so sure I want another turbo four cylinder. They have decent go-power but they lack the kind of sound that tickles my fancy. I also considered a Subaru Outback but found myself running down a long list of mods to make it less off-road basher and more on-road highway runner. Then for few days my wife's car was in the shop, she had the Escape and I was driving my playtoy, a 2013 Chrysler 200S convertible. The thought slowly began to sink in, that the auto press called the 200 a cheap, unreliable, slow excuse for a car. Conclusions that I take sharp opposition against. Yes it weighs almost 4k lbs, but with 300hp it makes tracks. The K&N intake sounds amazing along with the Magnaflow exhaust. Slow it is not. They said mpg wasnt great, yet on three different road trips the car easily returns 27-29mpg...20-23 if I'm flogging it hard. It occurred to me that for all the bad press, the Dodge Journey is much the same. Why would I not want another car with this spirited drivetrain? While marketed as a CUV, the Journey seems to be more road machine than off-road adventurer, which is fine by me. I've read others that compare it to a quasi-minivan. To me and my rose glasses, I see a capable wagon with the bones for a great road machine...with virtually zero exterior mods needed (a more pronounced rear spoiler would be cool) So once again I'm browsing Autotrader and I'm happy to see so many with attractive prices...probably a result of FCA announcing 2020 as the swan song of the model to be replaced by a Stelvio sister ship. They ended my 200S vert too, but that doesnt make it any less special to me.
  22. What a beauty! That color really pops!
  23. Are the fogs plug-n-play? Or do they require additional wiring? They look great! The headlights look awesome as well!
